Hello, dear fellow gourmets. Last month, Tamkarnwela was invited to attend the launch of a new Thai menu at OSHA Thai Restaurant & Bar on Witthayu Road. The menu features Thai dishes paired with Mekhong Thai cocktails. This menu will be available at OSHA for a full year.
Some of you may have heard of this activity before.
Let's take a look at the appearance of Thai food and see if it goes well with Thai cocktails.
Ocha Restaurant is a Thai restaurant with 9 branches abroad. The owner has chosen to open the 10th branch in Thailand. 17 years abroad must have proven the goodness of the food at this restaurant.
This restaurant aims to be a delicious destination for food lovers from all over the world to come and try under the concept of The Best Authentic Thai with Molecular Twist. Chef Thunthinthorn Chanthawan, an expert in Molecular Gastronomy Thai cuisine, has come to help create delicious dishes for Ocha Restaurant.
It's no surprise that Mekhong chose Osha as one of the 3 Thai restaurants in 2015 (Top Thai Restaurants: Osha, Blue Elephant and Dara Dhevi Chiangmai). It's a Thai restaurant with authentic Thai flavors that pairs Thai cocktails with Thai food.
Get ready to be served with refreshing pandan-infused Uthai curry in this hot weather.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is luxuriously decorated.
It's all set.
We are sitting here.
Let's have a drink first while waiting for the food.
The atmosphere at the press conference
There is a seminar on the topic "Revolutionizing Thai Cuisine: Presenting the Art of Pairing Thai Flavors". The unique characteristic of Thai food is its perfect balance, achieved by blending sour, sweet, savory, salty, and spicy flavors. When paired with Thai cocktails made from the same group of ingredients, the dining experience is further enhanced.
The principles of pairing cocktail flavors and food are divided into two categories: flavors that go in the same direction, which are derived from ingredients that come from similar or the same groups, and contrasting flavors, which create a more distinct and harmonious taste.
Now serving.
Siam Sparkling is a perfect blend of Mekhong and Sparkling Wine. Rock Sugar is added to the glass to enhance the flavor.
Serve Squids and Salted Egg Deep-fried squid tossed in a rich and flavorful salted egg sauce.
The fried menu cocktails should be designed to have a refreshing taste that cuts through the richness of the food, but the drinks should be light-bodied so as not to be too heavy.
Prepare to mix the second glass.
I wonder how it will taste.
Mekhong Thai Sabai has a sweet and sour taste. It's easy to drink.
Yum-style dishes tend to have a sour, spicy, salty, and slightly sweet taste. Therefore, suitable cocktails are often those with a sweet and sour taste, and the aroma of fruits, herbs, or a slight fizz. The recommended drink menu is Mekhong Thai Sabai, a cocktail made with Mekhong, fresh lime, and basil leaves.
This dish is Spicy Beef Salad. The Wagyu beef salad is very refreshing to eat together.
Chicken Soup This dish has no pairing because it contains Mekhong in the soup. I like this soup very much, the taste is good. It's a pity that the soup was a bit cold when it was served. It's a good way to adjust the taste in your mouth before eating the next heavy meal.
The Mekhong Mantra is the final cocktail of this meal, served to be enjoyed with two dishes.
Mekhong Mantra captures the essence of the Mekong River, with its herbal and ginger notes.
Enjoy with Crispy Snow Fish, pan-fried snow fish with chili and ginger sauce.
The fresh snow fish is incredibly sweet, almost like eating deep-fried catfish with chili and ginger. It's served with thick noodles tossed in a chili and ginger curry sauce.
And the Main Course is Massaman Lamb, this dish is very rich in curry paste. It is served with rice. A dish of curry eaten with Mekhong Mantra is a good way to reduce the richness of the coconut milk curry.
New Zealand lamb marinated for 48 hours, Massaman curry with almonds, served with brown rice and cinnamon sticks to enhance the aroma and flavor of the curry. When eating, dip the cinnamon stick into the curry.
For those who do not eat lamb, please change it to roasted duck with red curry.
Topped with coconut ice cream
Completely.
We usually see Western food pairing with wine, but today we are going to try Thai cocktail pairing with Thai food, which goes really well together. Mekhong has been a Thai staple for a long time, and today it has been given a new look to make it more appealing.
