The "snow meadow" phenomenon in Lad Phrao is a prime example of how beauty can be found all around us, if only we take the time to look for it and happen to be in the right place at the right time.

I have always been a fan of photographing meadows and wildflowers, especially the trendy ones like the Saccharum spontaneum. I particularly enjoy capturing the way the wildflowers sway in the morning or evening light, creating a warm and indescribable atmosphere.

To avoid missing out on the trend and fearing that people from Phuket will flock to Bangkok to take photos... Today, I would like to take you to see the "Snow Grass Field" in Phuket, along with the "Lanta Tim" field. Because in addition to the white cotton grass flowers, there are also ruby-colored grass flowers mixed in... Let me brag about the Snow Grass Field in Ladprao a little. In Phuket, my hometown, we have rubber trees and pineapples too, you know... Even though the area may not be as big... As for the location, it's easy to find and not too crowded. I consider it another unseen gem of Phuket... Come on, let's go see the pictures.

Don't forget to bring the model with you ... As for me, I'm going to practice yoga, so I'll let the yoga teacher be the model. Hehe.

Photography tips

  • -Shoot in backlight to make the wildflowers glow with an aura around them.
  • -Increase exposure + as you are shooting against the light, otherwise the image may be dark and gloomy.
  • -Use a telephoto lens with a wide aperture to blur the foreground and background, making the wildflowers or model in the focus point stand out more.
  • -It is recommended to go in the morning because there are fewer people passing by. If you go in the middle of the day, people might think you're crazy, haha. No, but seriously, the light is beautiful around 7-8 am, which is perfect for taking portraits.

Notes

  • The wildflowers need morning sunlight from 7 am onwards. Evening light is also okay, but you'll need to shoot from the opposite side of the road to get that dreamy, ethereal feel. As a result, the background won't be as beautiful as shooting towards the hills in the morning.
  • To capture the soft, ethereal feel and make the wildflowers glow as if they have an aura, you need to shoot against the light. Of course, there's a chance your model's face will be dark, so compensate for the light or use a reflector.
  • The location is private property that is currently up for sale. If you go in a small group, they probably won't mind, but if a lot of people go, I can't guarantee they'll let you in.
  • If you're going to take photos, there are paths around and some gaps where you can squeeze into the grass. Don't pick the wildflowers or walk too far into the undergrowth. I don't want to be responsible if you encounter snakes or get cut by broken glass or thorns.
  • I took this set of photos in early March. I expect they will be faded in a week or two. If you search and find this article at another time, please be aware that you may only find green grass instead.

Location

This meadow is located next to the Land & House 88 project fence on the way to Wat Chalong. From Phuket Town, when you reach Land & House, you can immediately turn left. There will be a good concrete road for you to turn into and park your car comfortably. You don't have to park on the side of the road, which can be dangerous.
