This afternoon, I went to run errands around the old Sam Yan market. I walked around, looking for something to eat, and tried to use the number of people in the restaurant as a measure of my decision. When I went, it wasn't during a mealtime, so if there were a certain number of people sitting in the restaurant, I figured it would be acceptable. I walked and walked until I reached Soi Chula 50. I saw a BBQ Buffet and, since I was hot and hungry (very hungry), I decided to go for it.
The shop is a two-story building with large glass windows and a black color scheme. The menu and prices are displayed at the front. Inside, there were about 5-6 customers before me, but the shop can accommodate around 50 people.
I started by reading the restaurant's rules and regulations first, because these days, buffet restaurants often have strange conditions, such as being able to eat for 1.30 hours but only being able to order for 1 hour.
Only something like this, but this shop doesn't have anything like this. 349 baht, you can eat for 1.45 hours. Free soft drinks and iced green tea. If you want to drink plain water, you have to pay an additional 20 baht per bottle. The shop is open from 11:00-22:00 every day.
The stove here uses charcoal, but it doesn't use a grill like Japanese or Korean yakiniku restaurants. Instead, it uses a flat pan. The restaurant provides yakiniku dipping sauce on the table, but also serves jaew dipping sauce and seafood dipping sauce at the same time. After a while, they also brought a large block of margarine or butter.
And on the table there will be an order form for you to choose from. Write the table name and then tick what you want to eat.
The meat menu here offers a wide variety of cuts, including outside skirt, hanger steak, hump, shank, miso-marinated beef, and the eye-catching crocodile meat. I asked the owner about the crocodile meat because I had never heard of it before. He explained that it is the tail end of the crocodile, with fat around the edges.
The pork section here offers pork collar, pork loin, three-layer pork belly, and miso-marinated pork loin. Pork dishes are garnished with chopped spring onions to distinguish them for those who do not eat beef.
Actually, some parts of the meat are not suitable for BBQ because they will be very tough. They are more suitable for stewing. However, this restaurant uses the method of slicing the meat thinly. I like it because it reduces the problem of tough meat a lot. For example, I was prepared for the beef shank to be tough, but it was okay. It wasn't as tough as I thought. However, some parts that should be very tender, such as the neck, which has a lot of marbling, didn't feel much more tender than other parts. I think the method of slicing the meat thinly has its advantages. It makes the difference in texture between different parts of the meat less noticeable, allowing us to choose from a wider variety of cuts. The pork itself was also normal, not particularly outstanding. I don't like pork that much because it has to be cooked all the way through when grilling, which makes it harder than beef. But if you just cook the edges of the beef until they are done, it is tender and delicious. 555 As for the chicken menu, I didn't try it.
The main vegetables are shredded cabbage, pumpkin, onion, golden needle mushroom, enoki mushroom and kimchi.
The seafood section only offers three options: salmon, dory fish, and squid. The salmon comes in thick slices, which is great because it's easier to grill than the thin, grilled salmon you get at some restaurants. Those thin slices just fall apart on the grill.
And there's a menu of Japanese rice, garlic fried rice, soup, French fries, chicken karaage, and chicken nuggets.
When you come to this restaurant, don't just enjoy the barbecue from the "savory stove" until your time runs out. Because there is still a delicious dessert to end your meal, which is the "sweet stove", which is a D.I.Y. pancake. The shop will change the pan for you and reduce the charcoal so that it is not too hot. They will give you 1 bottle of ready-made pancake. You can eat it until it's gone. But for toppings, you can only choose 1 per person. Toppings are available in chocolate, strawberry, chocolate chips, honey and ice cream. I went to eat with two people. But on the way, I talked to the owner's team about the details to collect information to write a review very often. So the shop kindly arranged all the toppings for me to try. It's not funny to eat, because I'm not funny. 555 But it's another way of being friendly and taking care of customers.
Squeeze the pancake batter onto the pan and cook until done. Then add the topping and you're good to go.
Not all shops are good. There are some disadvantages that I have encountered here, but I have found ways to avoid them. There are only a few things, and all of this is my personal opinion.
-The table is a bit small, but it's okay to increase the number of tables and customers. The shop uses extra tables to place it.
- The sliced outer thigh meat came with bone in the pieces. It might be that the cut wasn't very good, or that the bone was left in unintentionally. It's probably just a minor mistake, but I don't think it would be in every piece. It's just that I happened to get the jackpot with every piece on my plate.
- Pork or beef miso sauce, I ate it without dipping it in the sauce to get the full miso flavor. The miso smell tastes good, but it's very salty. So for the next bite, I had to dissolve it in the sauce a bit to make it just right.
- I only used margarine or artificial butter for the first time in the pan to take a picture. Because I know it's margarine, it only has a good smell and prevents sticking to the pan. But I know the production process and main ingredients. So I avoid putting it in. The solution for the barbecue restaurant that uses my margarine is to "not use" margarine at all. Just put it on the grill to let it coat the surface of the pan instead. The fire doesn't have to be too strong and I change the pan frequently. I change it once every 10-15 minutes. The shop also provides very good service in this matter.
- As for the pancake toppings, such as chocolate and strawberry, I tried them and they didn't taste like toppings. I felt that there was a lot of flour mixed in. In my personal opinion, I think the shop might have used filling instead of topping. The filling I'm talking about is the ready-made filling that is used to stuff bread. It will have a denser mass than topping, but the taste will be weaker and thinner. There are many different fillings available on the market, such as custard filling, pandan leaf filling, etc. IMHO, if the shop uses topping, I apologize. 55555
In conclusion............Overall, I'm quite okay with this shop. The exhaust system, I saw the shop running pipes all over the shop, also helped to a certain extent. It wasn't bad at all. The service and care for customers, I think it's very good. As for the food, the fresh ingredients are also good. It's considered good. As for the personal shortcomings, I just avoid them and enjoy the other good parts instead.
