Before starting Part 2, let's take a look at the video to see if it's worth it to share 500 baht for this kind of view. If it's not worth it, you can skip it and don't have to read the review. But if you think it's worth it, you can follow along to see how to travel to these 3 unseen islands with just this budget...

For the ultimate aesthetic experience, we recommend watching in HD mode, but you don't need to go as far as wearing 3D glasses.

Lately, I've been hearing a lot of complaints about the overwhelming number of tourists visiting my hometown, Phuket. It seems like everywhere you go, you're surrounded by Chinese tour groups. To be honest, I've been experiencing the same thing lately wherever I travel. But what can we do? We're a tourist destination, and Chinese tourists bring in a lot of money that helps our economy, both directly and indirectly. Of course, the problems that arise need to be addressed. That's why today, "Mr. Ant" has a big mission: to find ways for my fellow travelers to escape the crowds and find peaceful corners on islands near Phuket. Not only will you find crystal-clear waters, but you can also be sure you won't be bumping elbows with other tourists.

For the travel program, we will rent a long-tail boat from Chalong Pier, which is chartered for a full day (about 8-9 hours) at 2,500 baht per boat. We can go 7 people, which is 360 baht per person. We bought snacks and lunch for another large set, about 100 baht per person. In total, we will spend less than 500 baht for this trip. It's cheaper and more satisfying than going with a tour. Hehe... By the way, if there are only 4 of us, it will be 800 baht per person, which is a lot. There is definitely no island tour at this price... Oh! Since most of the residents on the island and the boat drivers are Muslims, it is recommended to avoid pork dishes in the food you prepare. Buying halal chicken sticky rice sold at the pier is not a bad idea. 20 baht gets you a huge piece. You can also share it with the boat driver while waiting for the boat. You can also take in the atmosphere at Chalong Pier.

The island you see is Koh Lhon, which is one of our destinations today. The island in the distance is Koh Hey, which is popular with tourists.

This is a pavilion at the foot of the bridge for boarding the boat. There are 2-3 food vendors where you can buy food as provisions.

For today, I will take you to visit 3 islands: Bon Island, which is located south of Phuket Island, followed by Lhon Island, which is opposite Ao Chalong Pier, and finally a small island in front of Lhon Island called Talan Island.

We left Ao Chalong Pier in the late morning, heading for the first destination of the program, which was Bon Island ...

The atmosphere in the late morning was bustling with boats entering and leaving the port.

From the pier, it takes about 30 minutes to reach a small beach on Koh Bon. On the beach, there were only two tourists, which is very few for the tourist season in Phuket.

On the shore, there were restaurants, but they didn't seem to be open. I took the opportunity to walk around and explore... The water here is crystal clear and perfect for swimming. The sand is quite white, but unfortunately, it's not very fine...

As I continued to take photos, two or three long-tail boats carrying foreign tourists, mostly Westerners, arrived at the beach for some relaxation. Although it didn't make the beach too crowded, the concept for today was a private beach, so I called our long-tail boat to pick us up and find another beach. ...Let's go find a new beach.

Exploring Google Maps, I discovered a small beach on the west side of Koh Bon. I asked the boat driver to take me there, but because the wind was quite strong that day, he said he would try to take me there but was not sure if he could get to shore. ... Luckily for us, that corner was in a windless spot and the water level was high enough to bring the boat to the beach. So we decided to make this beach our resting place. ...

This beach is very small and located at the head of the island. There is a small cape jutting out, which offers a beautiful view. Next to the beach, there is a grassy hill where you can climb up to enjoy the view and take photos. If you walk a little further, you will find another small beach hidden on the other side. If the wind is calm, I think it would be a nice place to visit.

The beach on the other side of the cape

Sticky rice with fried chicken is served here. It's really delicious because no one is bothering me.

After relaxing until almost noon, we decided to find a new spot for lunch. We boarded the boat and headed to Koh Lon. We originally planned to have lunch on the beach on the south side of Koh Lon, but since there were no restrooms, the boat driver took us to another beach on the east side of the headland.

Actually, this beach is quite long, but there are already people here. Let's go to another beach.

This beach is quite long, and there are houses built by local people on the beach. We used the benches by the sea of the villagers as a table for our lunch today... Of course, besides our group and the villagers there, there were no tourists at all. It was quiet and peaceful, and the owner of the house there was very kind. In addition to letting us rest under the shade of the trees in the house area, he also allowed us to use the bathroom.

After lunch, I took a shortcut to the headland because the map showed another beach nearby. It took less than 5 minutes to walk to the east coast beach, which is exposed to the wind. So it's no surprise that there was a lot of garbage washed up on the shore. And since it's not a beach used to welcome tourists, no one takes care of it or cleans it up. I felt sorry for myself because the sand on this beach is white and fine, and the water is clear. If it were on the island of Phuket, it would definitely be another crowded beach. Another highlight of this beach is the abundance of hermit crabs. They were all over the beach. It's another example of the natural abundance that we get to see without any disturbance.

It is a pity that a lot of garbage has been washed ashore on the beach.

However, there is no garbage on the beach. Importantly, the white sand is fine and the water is clear and inviting. Take a look at the pictures below, I think it looks like a beach on a famous island.

And here are the stars of the beach. There are so many of them, it's like they're everywhere.

Before leaving Koh Lon, I went to thank the uncle who owned the house. He told me to come back again sometime. This was another impressive thing about this type of travel, as I really got to experience the local way of life and hospitality.

Turning back to take another picture before waving goodbye to Koh Lon.

From Koh Lon, it's a short boat ride to Koh Tanan, which is actually right in front of the Koh Lon pier. However, we came from the other side of the island, so it took about 10 minutes by boat. ... I've seen this island many times from the viewpoint and sometimes passed by boat. I think it's a cute little island, and during low tide, there's a sandbar to walk on. ...

This is Koh Tanan.

When the tide is low, you can see sandbars like this.

The long-tailed boat brought us to the end of a sandbar about 100 meters long. It's a pity that the sand is not white and there are quite a lot of gravel and stones, otherwise it would definitely be another famous unseen. But anyway, we're here, so let's take some fun photos.

Looking to the other side, you will see Koh Lon, the island's port side.

After taking some photos, we boarded the boat back to Ao Chalong Pier, successfully completing our tour escape mission. As we had hoped, this was another option for exploring Phuket without having to worry about large crowds, and it was also very affordable.

Notes

  • As these islands and beaches are not tourist destinations, there may not be bins available. Please help to keep the environment clean by taking your rubbish back to the mainland.
  • The sand on some beaches may not be pristine white, but I believe that you can swim at all of them.
  • The tour program may need to be adjusted according to the tide times and weather conditions. It is advisable to consult the boat driver in advance to plan your trip effectively.
  • Bring enough drinking water and supplies, as there is no food service on the islands.
  • Additional items to bring include a mat, sunscreen and sunglasses, a diving mask, and photo props.
  • I have removed the boat driver's phone number because I have heard that he has been charging more due to the high demand. This is not fair.
