Summer has truly arrived.
Our skin color has become so dark (actually, it has been dark since birth).
I've heard it said many times that people go to the sea to escape either the heat or heartbreak.
As soon as it gets hot, I wonder why we would go to the beach.
The hotter it gets, the hotter it gets. The sun is so hot that it's like a slap in the face.
I'm one of those people who has never been to the sea to escape the heat, escape love, or escape anything at all.
It's just that I feel that "summer" makes the sea "super beautiful".
And this summer, I have to say, "Hey, man! Lipe! It's really awesome, you know!"
Nothing much, if you want to get to know each other and say hello more, please come here.

001 The beginning of the journey
This trip happened both intentionally and unintentionally. It almost fell through, but it didn't.
Let's just say it happened because one of our friends went to Phuket. She visits us every year.
But, you know, we live in Phuket... are you going to visit Phuket again?
So we tricked her into taking a plane to Phuket as originally planned.
The only difference is that she had to take a long flight to Satun with us.
The journey starts from Phuket to La-ngu District, Satun Province.
Nui used AVIS car rental again because for long trips, she needs a bigger car.
It will be much more convenient and safe.
It's recommended to book in advance... it's more convenient and reliable. Because during peak season, you can be sure that the cars will be sold out.
Choose a model and inquire through the website www.avisthailand.com or call center: 02251131-2
002 Get to know Lipe
*
Lipe Island is a small island (but small and spicy) in Satun Province.
Lipe Island is a local language of the Chao Lay people.
It means an island that is flat like paper.
Koh Lipe has 3 main beaches: Sunset, Sunrise, and Pattaya.
Each beach has a very straightforward name.
Sunset Beach ... is a quiet beach, perfect for relaxing and watching the sunset.
Sunrise Beach ... is the beach with the most beautiful sunrise and has many accommodations.
As for Pattaya Beach ... it is known as Pattaya 2 because it is lively and bustling.
And there is a variety of food, accommodation, and people. It is the most popular beach by far.
Getting to Koh Lipe
There are several ways to reach Koh Lipe, all of which involve getting to Pak Bara Pier in Satun Province. Here are some options based on your budget and preferences:
By Bus:
- Take a bus to Satun (La-ngu District).
- From there, take a songthaew (shared taxi) directly to Pak Bara Pier.
By Plane:
- Fly to Hat Yai Airport.
- Take a van from the airport to Pak Bara Pier.
- If you booked a tour, transportation from the airport to the pier will be included.
Additional Notes:
- Choose the option that best suits your budget and comfort level.
- Consider booking your transportation in advance, especially during peak season.
- Allow ample time for travel, as the journey can take several hours.
For us, we drove from Phuket. It took only a few hours. We dozed off and woke up, and soon we arrived.
***
What to do when you arrive at the port
What to do when you arrive at Pak Bara Pier
Everyone should be prepared to go together.
As for how to get there, there are many speedboat operators offering services from the pier to the island.
The price will be around 1000-1200 baht, but if you haven't booked in advance, don't worry.
As soon as you get off the bus, there will be people rushing towards you, which may make you deaf and dizzy. You can barely hear them.
But just say that you have already booked, everyone will walk away from you quickly.
However, for those who use tour companies, most of them will be One Stop service.
Which prepares everything for us, including transportation, island hopping boats, accommodation, various miscellaneous expenses, and diving tours.
This time we used the services of SealactionSealaction, which made everything more convenient.
Let's move on to the next topic. Once we arrive at the pier, we should immediately contact the company to confirm our booking. This is because those who arrive first have priority. We will receive a number indicating our order for boarding the ship, as passengers will be called in that order. While this may not seem significant, it's a good opportunity for those who get seasick to choose a suitable seat. We recommend the back of the boat, where the impact is minimal.
And this is the queue for us to board the ship.
Along with these details
That is the various expenses that we will have to pay
Port fee 20
Park fee 40 (Please keep the coupon well, because you have to use it throughout the trip. Otherwise, you have to pay again the next day.)
Long-tailed boat fee to the shore 100 baht (50 baht each way)
But we went with a tour, we don't have to pay these expenses because they are included in the package.
On the day we board the boat, there will be a guide to pick us up at the pier.
I forgot one more thing. For those who bring their own car, there are many car parks available.
But the price is almost the same for all of them, which is 100 baht per night.
****
There are many boat trips available, but today we chose the 11.00 am trip.
Because it is the only round that stops at Tarutao National Park and Ko Kai.
But now there is still plenty of time. Let's find some food to fill our stomachs first.
I saw this restaurant nearby and it was very crowded.
We often fall victim to this kind of marketing. A lot of people must mean it's delicious (really?).
This restaurant has both rice with curry and cooked-to-order dishes. The taste is considered okay (or maybe we're just hungry).
3 plates of rice, 1 bottle of Coke, 175 baht.
003 Stepping on the island
*
Don't rush, you still have to take a boat for almost two hours before you reach Lipe.
Our luggage preparation is simple: a backpack and a camera bag.
My friend's luggage, on the other hand, is like a suitcase for a catwalk.
I even asked my friend, "Are you going to the sea or Hong Kong?"
Before boarding the boat, oh... there were almost no backpacks, only wheeled luggage.
Now, I'm being told that the sea has speedboats, not rowboats. ^^
**
The first stop where the speedboat stopped
Okay, here's the translation:
So... Tarutao National Marine Park...
This is the first marine park in Thailand, you know? New knowledge!
Before entering, you have to pay the park fee first.
And the coupon you get from this point, this is what we have to keep safe.
The boat will only stop for us to explore here for about 15 minutes.
Don't be slow... Otherwise, before you even step on, you might have to step off.
It's like a 6, 7, 8 tour.
Roughly translated information about this island
This island used to be a prison before. Information that came in blah blah
Who has the heart to listen? Can I take a picture first?
Even though it was only a 15-minute period,
What we still felt and experienced
This place is beautiful, the beach is white, the water is crystal clear, it is quiet and the sun is very hot.
After a long boat ride, we finally arrived at Khai Island.
It is another beautiful island with fine white sand. It is located between Adang Island and Rawi Island.
The highlight of this island is the stone archway, known as the "Arch of Eternal Love".
The curved stone gate... Tarutao, Satun
A place to enhance the legend of young love
A land to start love to last long
We both step into the gate... eternal love
Love will last forever, it's worth a try, isn't it?
It is said that young men and women who pass through this stone archway will find their true love.
Hmm! It's tempting to try, but today it's high tide and I can't get through.
I guess we're not meant to be.
***
Our tour 6 7 8 is over.
After leaving Koh Kai, we soon arrived at Koh Lipe.
But, but,
But we haven't stepped on any island yet. Now we have to step on the boat first. There are millions of people.
Then take a long-tailed boat to the island. The long-tailed boat costs 50 baht per person per trip.
Or we can inform the resort to pick us up.
From now on, we will not have any information or verbose descriptions.
Because the picture will describe itself better.
The first image that caught my eye, oh my god, the water is clearer than Phuket! The sand is also white, this time Phuket is dead, dead from my memory for a while.
This beach is called Pattaya Beach, and of course, we're staying on this beach.
Pattaya Beach is the most diverse and lively beach among the 3 islands.
Why would we go to a quiet place?
Because this is the sea, we have to have fun with our friends.
Wowwwwwww.... How can it be so beautiful?
Why is the water so clear?
Give me 10 minutes to put my things away, then I'll come and play in the water with you, you little dog.
The beautiful sea makes us see the world in a beautiful light. Today, I suddenly became an animal lover.
Actually, I envy it running and playing.
****
Accommodation
Lipe Island offers a wide range of accommodation options, from budget-friendly to luxurious, catering to all styles, budgets, and preferences. Whether you're looking for a sunrise or sunset view, a lively atmosphere, or a stunning beach, you'll find the perfect place to stay that reflects your personality.
But today we are staying here... We don't have much choice.
Just something comfortable, Pattaya Beach, not too expensive, with a good view, not too expensive (that's a lot to ask for).
So we got this place.
It meets the requirements, but the price is still a bit high.
This is a general view of the Deluxe seaview room.
It's almost at the end of Pattaya Beach.
It's quite a walk to the walking street, but it's a good thing (women think positively).
That is, we will be able to explore the entire beach, see all the resorts, and see what the locals are doing. Hehe.
The first day was quite tiring, as we had to leave Phuket very early in the morning. It took almost 6 hours to get to the 11:00 am boat. We then took another boat for about 2 hours. Wow, Lipe, you're so far away... But on the first day, we already fell in love with you. You're so beautiful.
And the rest of the first day was spent sleeping.
004 Seafaring
*
Day two's journey begins.
We met our guide at 9:00 AM. This is another advantage that makes me love Lipe so much.
Because we don't have to wake up early to go diving, because we don't have to travel far anymore.
Just wake up, eat, and walk down to the boat.
Today, we went on a sea adventure with a long-tailed boat, with only us, the guide, and the boat driver.
This is the face of our handsome guide, Bangmeen. He looks very heavy.
I also dream that one day I will have a slender waist, a big butt, and slender legs. I can wear a bikini and pose like this on the bow of the boat.
But today, let's go with the big, fat legs first (we should play ourselves first because it hurts less).
**
About 15 minutes from the shore, we reached the first point, called Hin Son or Hin Ruea Dam.
According to Bang Min, the story of Hin Son is that in the past, the two rocks that are stacked on top of each other were under the sea. However, there was an underwater storm that swept the two rocks together and stacked them on top of each other. They have remained like this for a long time without falling.
This area is another diving spot, but the water is quite strong and fast, so it is not popular.
***
Apple Bay was the second spot where the guide brought us to anchor, but it would be the first spot where we would go diving.
When we parked, we thought to ourselves, "Is there anything here?"
No one else had parked here, so why were we the only ones? Was the guide messing with us? (We thought to ourselves.)
But as soon as I went underwater, it was like heaven. I've never seen such a perfect underwater world before. Just the first dive site made me realize that
***What a mistake it was to come to Koh Lipe.***
***If it's this beautiful, I'll have to come back many more times.***
A family of starfish lifted each other up, and they came in many colors.
The tiger conch is very big.
I'll tell you that we've never seen it before, or we've only seen it small.
We've always thought that this is coral, coming out of the water, telling Bang Min that
Bang, the colorful coral is so beautiful, it's full of yellow and purple.
Bang looked at me and said, "Where's the coral?"
Here it is, the one Bang took a picture of for me.
Everyone on the boat looked around, I knew right away, I just didn't know, right? I'm not stupid, I don't know this is a shell.
The first point is over, I'm fighting to the death, I'm telling you.
****
Bee Island
According to Bang Min, this is a diving spot where you can see soft corals in various colors.
Woo hoo! I'm excited because I've never seen it before. I've only seen bleached coral.
The water looks calm and peaceful, perfect for diving.
I could only get myself into the water, really. Suddenly, the water was flowing fast, very strong.
I could barely get back on the boat.
–And this is another point that we will have to come back to collect next time—-
*****
Little Bee Island
For safety reasons, we moved to another dive site, which is very close by, Ko Phaeng Noi.
Ko Phaeng Noi is the kingdom of the clownfish.
We have never seen so many clownfish, and we have never seen the anemones closed like this.
It was truly magical.
Besides Nemo fish, Ko Phi Phi also has many other kinds of fish. (We apologize that the underwater photos in the review are only a few that we have downloaded to our mobile phones before our Gopro was lost, and we did not download all the image files to the computer.)
From Ko Phing Noi, we continued our journey, passing Ao Jak and Ao Ling. This area boasts a long, white sandy beach. However, on the day we visited, the tide was high, and the beach was submerged. Despite this, we could still sense the white sand and clear water.
*****
Floating Rock Island
This island made us go "wow" even before we docked the boat.
We don't know what words to use to describe it,
because it's so beautiful. The pictures we took don't even capture half of what we saw.
The water is crystal clear, like a mirror, reflecting the shimmering sunlight.
The white sand is so fine it almost melts your heart, even though you have to look at it through the water.
Normally, this area has a long white beach that stretches out into the sea, but today, the high tide has left no beach at all.
This made us immediately interested in the tides.
Bang Min told us that the best time to visit is during low tide, between the 8th and 12th waxing or waning moon.
Oh boy... from now on, we'll have to check the lunar calendar before we go to the beach.
Koh Rok is perfect for swimming, so we couldn't miss it.
Don't miss the chance to walk up to the top for a panoramic view.
This event showcases the magnificent beauty of the Thai sea.
******
Ravee Island
Around noon, we stopped for lunch at Koh Ravi.
We encountered a large crowd because this island is like a spot where every group stops for lunch.
But luckily we chose to come in the afternoon because some people started to go out to the water.
On the island there are still tables, chairs and shops selling made-to-order food, papaya salad, grilled chicken too, you know.
Upon arrival, we need to refuel first.
Bangmeen has prepared food for us.
I forgot to mention that when diving with Sealection, you don't need to bring any drinks. The guide will provide them for us.
Both plain water, soda, and fruit juice, but bring your own snacks. But don't drop them in the water, as it will affect the ecosystem.
Today's meal is chicken fried rice.
After lunch, it's time to relax.
But if anyone here falls asleep, we'll really respect them.
The beach is so beautiful and the water is so clear...
Whoever wants to play in the water, play... but we'll go for a walk around the island for a bit.
We stayed on Koh Rawee for quite a while.
It was relaxing and we got to swim in the water.
On this island, besides people, trees, and sand,
there were also monkeys... Ah, ah, wait, what is a monkey?
It's just a monkey, but we're calling it something cool, not a monkey standing by the sea.
*******
Rubber Island
After a satisfying meal and some fun in the water, our next stop was Koh Yang.
The highlight of Koh Yang is the lettuce coral, which covers the entire area.
It's incredibly beautiful.
Koh Yang is another island that is very complete.
Nui likes to come across strange and unique things, many things.
Found both seahorses, lobsters and what made us open our mouths and forget that we were in the water
It's the crown starfish. It's beautiful and very big (very sad for the missing picture, I want to show it off, my heart will break).
Brain coral can still be found in some places.
We have no idea what this tree is, we forgot to bring it with us. There are tons of them.
We've been diving in many places and this is the first time we've seen it here.
And finally, on Koh Yang, we have the "dressed-up" sea urchins.
Usually, we see them as black, spiky, and long-haired creatures, but the sea urchins here are really cool, they can even dress up!
********
Beautiful Stone Island
This is a must-visit spot, aptly named "Beautiful Stones".
We recommend wearing shoes, or you'll regret it later.
Previously, you could see stacks of stones resembling pagodas.
However, stacking is no longer allowed... Don't ask why, we don't know.
Even though it's hot on the island, the stones near the water are refreshingly cool. We spent a long time rolling around on them.
**********
Jabang Canal
We can only say that we are very sorry. The day we went was the day the water was strong and cold.
The water was cloudy and we couldn't see anything through it.
Our boat driver, Mr. Sumeth, volunteered to dive down and take a VDO for us to see. We were very happy, even though it was a VDO.
Because the Jabang Canal is the most important highlight of Koh Lipe, we might as well say.
But we missed it. Not only that, the VDO file disappeared with the camera. In conclusion, we don't have even one picture of the Jabang Canal.
***Then I will go back again.***
At least I got a watermelon to comfort me on the way back.
Thank you Sealaction for taking good care of the crabs and mats.
Thank you Bangmeen, the coolest guide, thank you Sumeth, the super skilled and lovely boat driver.
Throughout the trip, I didn't mention Sumeth's name, but he was really awesome.
Our diving trip is over... but Lipe is not over yet.
005 Chill Out
Back from diving, no need to ask what we did.
Of course, we slept like the dead. It was a trip that we felt was more chill than ever.
Usually, we don't sleep or sleep. We have to wake up before the sun rises, the sun sets, we have to sit and wait.
But this time we slept long, woke up because our stomachs were growling.
Stepping out of my accommodation, I headed towards the walking street, only to be greeted by this kind of atmosphere.
I don't know how to describe it, but it felt so chill, so blissful, so free.
Many people came out to walk, relax, and enjoy a slow pace of life, sitting, walking hand in hand, and chatting.
And finally, we parked at this restaurant, which is located near the walking street. The name of the restaurant is Islanders Sea Sport Bar. The restaurant is very beautiful and the colors are very vibrant.
But a place like this, you have to sit like this, cool breeze, beautiful sky, people chatting, a cold bottle of beer.
A big smile, close your eyes and relax.
Walking Street 006
Did you know that Koh Lipe now has a walking street? And guess what? They even have food stalls there!
Most of the stalls sell food, but the variety isn't that great. It's mostly seafood.
There are a few other types of food available, but I have to warn you, it's expensive. Each dish costs more than 200 baht.
There are also drinking shops all the way.
This pizza shop is very popular, all the customers are foreigners.
The price is 100 baht per slice, which is considered a good price if we can eat just one slice and be full.
There are plenty of roti and teh tarik shops to choose from.
They say there are famous shops too, but I don't focus on famous shops, I focus on deliciousness and not having to wait.
The taxis on the island are cute. The fare is 50 baht per person.
There are also medical facilities.
Finally, we ended up at a restaurant.
We walked almost to the end, looking at both prices and variety.
We ended up at this restaurant.
Steamed shrimp with glass noodles. The taste is good, the price is reasonable.
Fried squid with garlic, delicious taste, affordable price.
Shrimp rice for people with toothache. I forgot to ask about the taste. The price is okay.
Steamed sea bass with lime sauce is delicious. The fish is steamed perfectly, the flesh is tender and not fishy. The price is a little over three hundred baht, which is acceptable.
The stir-fried crab with curry powder was delicious and the portion was huge. We couldn't finish it. Compared to the price, it was okay, but the crab meat wasn't very firm.
The 3-day, 2-night trip to Lipe has come to an end.
The next morning, we woke up late and took a boat back. That's all.
For this trip, I can only say one word: "LOVE". I love the sea even more.
I forgot how to spell "afraid of being black" and didn't cry for sunscreen.
** In my personal opinion, you should go for 4 days and 3 nights.
Because you should go diving for 2 days, there are still many interesting spots. That means we definitely have to go back.
Both to dive at the spots we haven't dived yet and to go back and fix the spots we missed.
** When it comes to choosing between going on your own or buying a tour, it really depends on your preferences, budget, and time constraints.
Personally, I think buying a tour offers several advantages, especially in terms of convenience.
Since I don't have much time to research, I don't have to prepare a lot of information.
Going with a tour also means having a guide to explain things and a great boat driver.
I've noticed that some boats only have one driver, which can lead to less attentive service.
They also tend to go to diving spots that are crowded with people.
**Food on the island is quite expensive, but if you look around a bit, there are cheap restaurants hidden away.
But if you want snacks, milk, instant noodles, you can prepare them yourself, because we took them too.
It's not heavy in your bag, but it helps to fill your stomach. Sometimes when you're hungry and haven't gone out yet, you can eat it as a snack first.
As for alcoholic beverages, if you think you'll drink a lot, bring them with you. They're definitely more expensive on the island, but if you only drink a little, don't bother carrying them around.**
On the island, there is a 7-Eleven, the prices are a bit higher and it's quite crowded. But we tried walking around to compare prices, and the minimarts outside are cheaper than 7-Eleven.
**Medical facilities are available**
**There are ATMs, so you don't need to carry a lot of cash.
Finally, and finally,
Thank you for every journey that has taught us to learn and feel love for every story that has happened.
