This information is almost 2 years old, but I see that the train is still free, so I'm sharing it.
0 baht! Plenty of seats available, no need to fight for a seat, no need to cut your credit card. Just be Thai, that's all.
I haven't taken a train in almost 20 years. I happened to be free, so I tried to find information about traveling by train nearby and for 0 baht to celebrate the policy.
Hua Lamphong wasn't crowded when I went.
I have finished my homework from the internet. Let's choose the place we want to visit and go!
The seats are empty because it's the beginning of the train, so you can take your pick. But if you want my advice, sit on the right side for the outbound journey, as the left side will be in the sun. And choose a seat with a fan, if possible.
But it's not hot on the way there (if the car is running, hehe).
Beautiful scenery along the way
We're here! It was a pleasant and quick journey.
Let's catch frogs together. The whole train station is full of them. They're so cute.
I booked a room here. I didn't see anyone review it, so here it is.
I chose this place because I read on Agoda that it's suitable for people who don't have a car and are coming by train. Let's see how it is.
The room is a bit small, but it's very beautiful.
Delicious Thai food. I love it.
No TV, refrigerator, shared bathroom.
In the evening, I rented a bicycle and took a ferry across the river to the Chao Phrom Market. The ferry only cost 4 baht, and the bus was 2 baht. It was very cheap.
I don't know where to go. Let's find something to eat.
It's almost dusk, I should head back. (The ferry stops running at 9pm.)
Instead of going back to the hotel, I decided to take a walk around the train station. It was still crowded with tourists, mostly foreigners. The station never sleeps, as trains arrive and depart throughout the night.
The accommodation has a fresh market in the morning.
Initially, we planned to offer food to the monks. However, the monks here, just like in our country, were standing and waiting in front of food stalls and wouldn't go anywhere. Therefore, we decided not to offer food and instead opted to ride our rented bikes. We figured we should make the most of our rental.
Note: The original poster does not ride pillion alone and does not rent 2 motorcycles because we want to go together. Hehe, where should we go for a sweet escape? We drove and drove until we reached the floating market. However, we arrived too early and the shops were not open yet. But it was quiet and peaceful, without any tourists blocking the camera. 55
Watching your little sister take a bath, it seems like she's enjoying it.
The little one is so cute after a bath.
Strolling around, taking pictures of everything I see. The weather is cool and not too hot.
I was taking pictures when something wrapped around my ankles and legs. Oh, my dear, I miss my chubby husband at home.
Without you, it's like my heart is missing. I've walked around several times to check if the water is hot yet. Oh, it's so refreshing.
Taking pictures as we go, there are a few tourists, not many.

That's enough for now, let's go back. Find something to eat near the train station. It's delicious and cheap.
Balcony in front of the house
I think it's better to go home. I did my homework and checked the bus schedule since last night, so it wasn't difficult. The staff were all kind. At first, they thought we were foreigners when we checked the bus schedule, so they came to speak English to help us. They were so nice.
On the way back, it was crowded, but luckily I got a seat. We were lucky on this trip, the train arrived exactly on time, no waiting at all. Our compartment was empty, but the other compartment was crowded, and they wouldn't even bother to look for a seat. The conductor walked around grumbling, haha. But by the time we reached Bang Pa-in, it was empty again.
The journey has ended. The line we took may have had fewer people, so it was comfortable and relaxing. For those who don't think much, it's the most economical trip we've ever taken. Hehe.
To Hua Lamphong Station, wait for the bus at the bus stop. Wow, the wooden chairs, the seats are very hard. There must have been a lot of trees in the old days. Bye-bye. If you have the chance, try traveling by train. You can go in the morning and come back in the evening. It's comfortable and convenient, and it's also economical.
P.S. The bathroom at Hua Lamphong Station, which costs 2 baht to enter, is still as horrifying as ever. On the way back, I held it in and took it home with me. 555 Bye.
You should try it. The atmosphere is warm and pleasant. You can see the way of life of the villagers. It's not as rushed as taking the bus in Bangkok. People who take the train are relaxed. One book is enough. Even though the stations may look old, they have a certain charm. They're beautiful. I like many of the stations.
