Chiangmai Therapy: A No-Plan Trip with 5 Days, 5 Hotels in Chiang Mai That Everyone Says Are the Coolest
Tourist attractions Chiang Mai - Mae Kampong - Grand Canyon - Nap - Hello Craft
The Core Chiangmai Hotel - D-well Hostel & Cafe - Pyur Otel - Two gals and the pig boutique hostel - Oxotel
For this trip, I didn't intentionally choose the cheapest hotel. I chose the hotel that best matched my lifestyle and met my needs the most. Thank you.
I paid for everything myself, mostly through Agoda and Booking.com.
Updated! I used a Sony A7 camera in Auto mode for all photos and an iPhone 6S.
Is there anyone out there who feels the same way I do? When life becomes a monotonous routine, it feels like I'm just breathing to pass the time. It makes the coolness and chicness of life fade away like a bland tofu and egg soup with jute leaves. It's truly devoid of any vibrancy. That's why I choose to be addicted to "travel," the best medicine to cure a bored heart and life. So I chose to travel to Chiang Mai with the trip Chiang Mai, She-ra-py (The-ra-py), did I read that right? With a 5-day, 5-night stay, 5 hotels, and 5 activities that hipsters and backpackers shouldn't miss. Allow me to share some stories with the songs in the playlist that I listened to throughout this trip.
Let's get started, shall we?
I traveled from Phuket airport to Chiang Mai in 2 hours. The pilot was on time and went straight to the first hotel.
1. The Core Hotel, Chiang Mai
The brand new hotel is located right in front of Chiang Mai University. Inspired by the traditional tie-dye fabric, the hotel is decorated in white and indigo colors. The warm feeling inside the hotel is enhanced by the use of natural wood materials. The lobby is spacious and airy, with a swimming pool that looks inviting, but I skipped it because it was cold that day.
The room is simply decorated. After a good night's sleep, I must say that the bed and feather pillows are very soft. I slept like a log. The bathroom is new and clean, but the hot water is a bit slow to heat up because the hotel uses solar energy to heat the water. On the rooftop of the hotel is a restaurant for dinner and breakfast. It is a great spot with a beautiful view, as you can enjoy your breakfast in the fresh air with a view of the mountains. It's so beautiful that you might forget to chew your food.
Let's take a look at the atmosphere around us.
The pool looks very inviting.
Come upstairs and visit the upper floor.
The hotel's rooftop is a restaurant with a great view.
Let's go see the bedroom.
It's late, let's go out and have some fun. The weather is nice. Today, let's go to The Harbour, a cool beer bar.
Woke up to breakfast with this kind of atmosphere (when I came to stay, the hotel was rearranging the dining room).
Upon returning, there were souvenirs given as it was during the Soft Opening. They were very cute.
It's time to check out. Overall, The Core Hotel is very new, having only been open for a few days. Its location near the market makes it very convenient for walking around. What impressed me was the soft bed and pillows; they were truly amazing. The hotel seems to be ideal for couples or families. There's a coffee shop opening downstairs, so I'll be back to stay again.
Tips : I booked through Facebook and there were always promotions. Check it out www.facebook.com/thecorehotelchiangmai
The accommodation price was around 1,XXX baht, I can't remember exactly. It was probably over a thousand baht, but even at 2,000 baht, I think it was still worth it.
The first day was a relaxing one as I hadn't slept in days after returning from a scuba diving trip. For the remaining 4 nights, the room rate was between 350 and 550 baht. On the first day, I decided to rent a car and go to "Mae Kampong".
On the way to Mae Kampong, I had to stop the car because there were what I thought were a lot of dandelion seeds floating in front of the car. It was so beautiful that I stopped to watch.
I'm not sure if it was fluff or something, but that 1-minute moment was really beautiful.
I've arrived in Mae Kampong.
Stop by for more energy
The iconic Maekampong wall, a must-visit photo spot for everyone. If you're alone, take a picture with the empty wall.
Feeling lonely and alone? This song is the perfect way to express your emotions.
Good God, Robin, is what I'm hearing true?
Oh my god, bat, what an unbearable story.
Who dares to hurt you?
Who dares to make her sad?
Who are you?
Oh my god, is that your amazing father, George?
Oh my god, close the game story with that person.
Who is the one who made you forget me?
Who is the person who made us break up?
You did that to me, you did that.
We broke up for no reason. What do you think I am?
How sad I am, on the day I embraced it.
If there is a reason, then how are you?
You've been hit, haven't you? You won't die, just endure it.
The music makes the cold air even colder. If you're not strong, I suggest you don't listen to it.
Mae Kampong Waterfall
In summary, Mae Kampong is very relaxing, but it's also incredibly quiet and lonely for solo travelers. It would probably be more fun with friends. There are plenty of photo opportunities.
I'd love to come back, but I probably won't come alone again. I can't handle the "drama and the weather".
Right now, what's on my mind is "Damn, Robin." I searched on Google and it said not to miss a certain restaurant, it's amazing. Don't go to the market stalls or the really crowded places because it won't be cool.
Mixology Chiangmai Burger is another restaurant that opens its doors and takes you to another world. Inside the restaurant, there are several of my friends sleeping on the floor. I had the opportunity to talk to the owner, who told me that the restaurant was born from a group of friends who had studied in England. The concept of the restaurant is "back to the old route". The partners are a mixologist, interior designer, graphic designer, and the person I spoke to is in charge of the food.
The food here is a fusion of international and Thai cuisine. The signature dish is the Laab Burger, which does not contain offal and is therefore safe for Westerners to eat.
I highly recommend it. The menu looks delicious. Please ask if you don't understand, because I can't read it either.
Just to let you know, this is just basic coffee. I have to check it myself. The person who recommended it said that it takes a long time to stir it to make it delicious. I'm going to have some muscles after this.
This must be the most extravagant coffee I've had this month.
A little syrup was added. When it was poured, the aroma was so strong that it was overwhelming.
Let me introduce you to my new coffee drinking buddy, Krush. At first I thought he was a statue.
Sleepy, aren't you, Phi Rang? Come and have some cheap coffee, brother.
Today I tried fish n chips with salad. Honestly, it's not just beautiful, the chips are delicious.
I used to order food, the menu that people used to think about often. Then... are they not here anymore? Sad salad. I'd better eat salad again. Night 2, Hotel 2 D-well Hostel & Cafe
Following from this thread, beautiful pictures, your red shirt is very beautiful for your age (just kidding, just kidding)
http://pantip.com/topic/34024674
The bedroom is here. Tonight I have to share a bed with 3 other friends. No one snores because I'm so drunk, I'm fast asleep.
Take a look at the bathroom.
I slept very well last night thanks to the 5 bottles of Singha. The blankets here are good, I like them.
The top hostel secretly feels similar to Korea, because it uses a translucent roof. It looks very different during the day and night.
The room I stayed in: A bunk bed in a 4-bed mixed dorm room for 450 baht/night (I saw it on sale for 350 baht).
Interested in staying here, follow to www.facebook.com/Dwellcnx Take a walk around the hotel.
To be honest, this is my first time coming to Chiang Mai alone. It's a bit lonely.
A couple of days later, a friend who was studying in Chiang Mai called me and invited me to go to the Grand Canyon.
I've seen it on Pantip, but I don't really feel like going. But whatever.
Admission fee 50 baht, can be exchanged for herbal water or used as a discount on coffee drinks.
I've read the news, I've heard about it, I've known about it before. I told the younger brother who came with me, "I won't jump." I kept my head down and continued eating fried rice.
However, what changed my mind here was the large number of foreign tourists. All the time, they were busy eating fried rice with their heads down, and there were cheers for them to jump.
If a woman comes, I believe it will be fun. If a man comes, it will be fun too. If a lesbian comes, it will probably be fun too.
You can jump in, but don't scream when you jump into the water. Many people only show up when they jump.
( What does jumping have to do with being gay or not? I'm curious. )
I lowered my head and walked to grab another 2 cans of beer. Actually, I'm really afraid of heights. Just climbing the stairs to change the light bulb, the ceiling is already howling like a dog.
"Brother, don't look down when you climb up, okay? If you look down, you won't dare to jump. While climbing up the 17-meter-high cliff, I passed many men."
I decided not to jump. Fuck, did I make the right decision? The feeling of being down here is so different from being up there. It's like the difference between eating a Krispy Kreme and a donut from a street market. It was so scary that every part of my body was shrinking. The sound of people falling into the water was constant. My legs started to shake. I stood there for 20 minutes.

The image at 17 meters, no one took it. Frustrating!!!!!
The 17-meter high dive was completed in just 3 seconds.
Numbness in the feet, pain in the buttocks, and a clear mind.
How did we get here? We didn't jump off a cliff, we jumped off something we didn't dare to.
I'll be back later, the ice and soda are gone, there's still plenty of cool stuff to follow.
Another reason I wanted to come to the Grand Canyon is because of the song by Atom. Has anyone ever heard it?
SCAR - Atom Chanakan This song makes me feel more pain than jumping off a cliff. Not recommended for the faint of heart.

In short, Grand Canyon is another place you shouldn't miss when visiting Chiang Mai. It's not just about the hype or getting Instagram-worthy photos. Visiting Grand Canyon allows you to witness the vibrant energy of young Westerners having fun and experiencing excitement that's different from the reserved nature of Thais. It's also a challenging place to jump from. However, for safety reasons, it's recommended to choose a jump that you're comfortable with and prioritize safety. If you're not a strong swimmer, it's best to wear a life jacket for your own safety. As for me, I'll remember this cliff jump for a long time. It was a huge step in overcoming my fear of heights and my own limitations. It felt like I left something behind on the cliff and started a new chapter in my life. One thing I won't forget is that my butt still hurts!
Hotel 3 for tonight Pyur Otel & Ombra caffe
The name Pyur is pronounced "Pee-yur". This hotel is incredibly eye-catching due to its unique appearance, which sets it apart from other hotels. As far as I know, the owner is an architect who converted the building from an office into a hotel. The interior design is industrial-style, and the ground floor features a cafe that fills the air with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, tantalizing the taste buds. The scent of coffee blends with the chatter of patrons placing their orders. After seeing photos of the hotel on their page, I discovered that they have rooms dedicated to famous figures like James Bond, Che Guevara, Bruce Lee, Kurt Cobain, and many more. Each room has a distinct design, so if you have a specific preference, be sure to book early. Let me take you on a sneak peek of one of the rooms.
First of all,
Vladimir Putin, the world's most powerful man, reads with power.
If you want to read the history, please click here.
[url]http://www.trachoo.com/2015/02/22/vladimir-putin-background-history/
Outside the room, there is a large balcony, quiet and perfect for reading books.
But the coolest thing is the room I'm going to sleep in tonight. I'd rank it as one of the TOP 10 coolest Domitory Rooms in Thailand.
The price is only 450 baht, including a soft breakfast. But I have to tell you that it's very difficult to book because there is only "one room".
Opening the door, I was met with the sight of my roommate, with whom I would be sharing the night.
This dorm room has beautiful lighting thanks to the decoration and the direction of the light coming from the balcony through the sheer curtains.
The decor is so frilly and comfortable. Usually, dorm rooms don't have a common table, but this one does, which provides a space to meet and chat with roommates. The balcony is also very wide, with beanbags where you can lean back and read a book in the cool air until you fall asleep. Let's take a walk and explore downstairs. I must say, it's beautiful from every angle. But I forgot that I came alone. The end.
Keep it in your own brain.
I had the chance to talk to the hotel owner again. This hotel is so lovely and peaceful. I believe it's a hidden gem for many Chiang Mai residents who choose to come here to read books or work quietly. The atmosphere is very relaxing. I recommend ordering a cup of coffee to help you keep your balance. Last night, I went to Tha Chang. I've tried to go there many times before, but it was always too crowded. But last night, my determination and desire were at an all-time high, so I went and waited early. I ended up drinking at 2 different places (not 2 million places!), and I got completely drunk. As a result, I woke up late the next day and had a massive hangover.
Try listening to the song, it's so good [Spoil] Click to see hidden texthttps://youtu.be/-y-CxK0TW_0 I'm about to cry
The music ended, the sound of my stomach growling cut through the mood. I saw someone say that 450 baht includes a Soft Breakfast, is that true?
So I had to go down and check it out.
I've been sitting here for a while and I'm starting to get really hungry.
Waiting, hungry, waiting, hungry, walking around, walking around, walking around, walking around.
I've just finished making another MV. I'm thinking about this song, "Journey (Backpack)" by Chart Suchart. [Official MV]
[Spoiler] Click to reveal hidden messagehttps://youtu.be/Jy35oa5oFoY I'm so sad, I could cry.
I can already smell the bread, it's so good.
It's here! It looks so good, really. Hot croissants, sticky rice with custard, and muesli yogurt with fresh berries overflowing the plate. It's so delicious, I could cry.
But during good times like this, it's sad to have to eat alone. Keep your head down.
A fragment of loneliness: MARK
[Spoiler] Click to reveal hidden messagehttps://youtu.be/ReELHHbSqXs
Can you give me some? Just a little bit of loneliness.
From the disappointment she had
Love me unconditionally, ready to be a vent.
Just to see her smile again.
I never wanted to replace anyone.
Just to be someone who is ready to share the loneliness
In the minute that you have no one left.
Leave me with the many heartbreaks you've encountered.
Let her know that the more lonely she is, the sadder the world becomes with her.
This was the hotel I enjoyed the most on this trip. Not because my roommate was good-looking and cute, but because the atmosphere of the hotel was so peaceful. It almost felt like time stood still when I was staying here. Everything was quiet and everyone had their own space without disturbing each other. It was perfect for someone who was traveling to recharge their batteries and who needed some encouragement in life. Being alone isn't as bad as I thought. Sometimes being alone in a quiet environment gives us the opportunity to ask ourselves questions and find answers on our own. In the end, we may find that the encouragement we need comes from ourselves.
For those who come to stay here, please respect the place and do not disturb others. Because it is the charm of the Pyur Otel.
This one focuses on party movies, wants to drink loud music, please skip it, or walk to Nimman, it's not far, the weather is good, comfortable, near Pyur, there is a local restaurant called Ruen, Huen Muan Jai, the food is delicious and very cheap. Highly recommended.
Check out the information on Wongnai.

It's a regular shop that I have to stop by and drink every time I come.
It really helps with hangovers and stimulates the heart to function normally again. It's really refreshing.
Today, we're going to the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden in Chiang Mai to see the cactus forest. I hear it's a must-see for hipsters.
My eyes are so blurry that I'm about to vomit cactus spines. Let's play some music to set the mood. The cool air in the greenhouse, the gloomy mood is awesome.
"She's good (Still)" - Jetset'er, a song played in every bar in Chiang Mai. If a bar doesn't play it, kick it. #KickItButNotTooHard

The cactus is beautiful, but it hurts to touch it. #Love is the same.
There are about 300 more pictures. Enough, I saw on Pantip that everyone was reviewing Sleepy Canapé Canopy >> Canopy Walkway, so I went there to try it out. In the end, I was embarrassed because it was raining and dangerous. Do not enter.
Let's switch from the view of trees and mountains to the abstract view of the steel bridge.
Tonight, let's embark on an adventure at the heart of the city's largest mall, MAYA.
Feeling lonely and bored, not knowing what to do, I happened to read a review of the movie "The Lobster" and decided to watch it.
It's a dark comedy that takes people on a rollercoaster of emotions with its story of love. The ending left some people booing, while others wondered what the hell they had just watched.
But seriously, if you watch it from the beginning, you'll understand a lot about love. It's super satirical.
There are two options: watch it intentionally or fall asleep from the beginning. You will be very happy when you reach the Maya Roof top. The weather today is very cold.
Let's come to this restaurant. It should be the most famous one like Myst.
They say it comes from the word Mystery, mysterious. I want everyone to come and find it. The shop is very crowded, but luckily someone just walked out. The music is great. I got a table right in front of the stage.
And finally, a song popular in Chiang Mai, "You're great as always."
This shop is famous for its cocktails that use liquid nitrogen, which makes you worry about the bartender's performance until you have to pee.
If you have the chance, try visiting MAYA shopping mall on the 6th floor of Nimman Hill. Many people might wonder why I associate music with travel. Music is an excellent way to record the emotions and stories of a journey, both happy and sad. Every time I travel to a new place, I choose songs with a similar mood and listen to them in different locations. Every time I return from a trip, the music helps me reminisce about the experience. Sometimes it might make me cry, but other times it brings a smile to my face. Don't let your travels fade into a blurry memory lost in the past.
Arrived at the 4th hotel, Two gals and the pig boutique hostel.
The name is very indie, you know. Sometimes it's called "Two Girls and the Pig", sometimes it's called "Three Pigs and the Girl". Just kidding.
The hotel is absolutely stunning, with a whimsical and vibrant atmosphere. The white color scheme, popular in 2015, creates a clean and elegant contrast with the lush greenery of the ferns and orchids. The overall ambiance is ethereal and dreamlike, reminiscent of the misty forests of Indonesia. Just kidding! But seriously, it's a beautiful place.
There is also a Soft Breakfast corner. Taking a picture of the toast in the morning would be nice.
Please park your shoes on the 2nd floor and walk to the room. My room is called BUFFY, a single room with a shared bathroom. It is compact in size.
The price is only 550 baht, which I think is okay. I got some privacy from sleeping with other people for several nights. I want to do this and that.
It's a bit private, the room size is just enough to put your luggage on the floor. The bed might be a bit too new and hard. At first, I was quite shocked because I couldn't find the remote. It turned out that this place has a central air conditioning system. When I checked in early, the air conditioning wasn't turned on, so I had a fat-burning sauna. I'm not sure how the system works, but it's okay, I'm chill.
The bathroom was very impressive because it was super clean.
The hotel just opened a few days ago. I think everything should be ready now. At that time, I didn't know which one was shampoo and which one was soap. I mixed them together and washed my hair and body. It was good.
Here is a summary of the new, lovely hotels in this area.
The hotel is located at the end of Nimman 15 Alley, which is very convenient to get around. The hotel is relatively new and the materials used look really clean. In my personal opinion, it is more suitable for women than men. It looks very fancy. The room I stayed in for 550 baht is worth it. If you are a woman traveling alone, especially for the first time, this place is perfect. It is safe and convenient. I don't have much information and details about the accommodation or rooms. You can try asking on the page. [Spoiler] Click to see hidden textwww.facebook.com/Two-gals-and-the-pig-boutique-hostel-1502929960030254 I will take my friends to visit the Nap event and Hello Craft. Please stay tuned.
Perfect timing! During my visit, there was a Nap festival, which made my trip even more enjoyable and relaxing. I really loved strolling around and taking in the sights.
This coincides with Father's Day. "Long live the King."
Another round of coffee please.
On the way to the event, Sawasdee-Kraf would like to stop by a temple for a bit. The temple is called Wat Umong Suan Phutthadham.
History in this area [Spoil] Click to view hidden messagehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Thailand
I like it very much.
I'll continue writing later. When I get home, I'm thinking of a cold Singha beer and the sea. 5 bottles to the brim.
But in reality, I miss Chiang Mai so much. The beer in Chiang Mai is delicious. It may seem lonely, it may seem boring, but it's so free to let your heart go wild sometimes. I miss the warm up. I miss the good view. I miss the beer in front of 7-11 with two dogs sitting and eating as my companions. It's not over yet. I'll come back to continue later. Let's stop by to refuel before going to the "Hello Craft" event. Let me eat something that is very local.
Eat and eat, believe and believe
Here is the translation:
It looks like laab, but the difference is in some of the ingredients, especially the use of fresh blood. The colors are bright and vibrant.
The taste is sweet, crispy, salty, creamy, delicious, satisfying, and red-toothed.
We're here, "Hello, Craft" at the house next to the temple.
The house next to the temple is located behind the Rampueng temple. What should we call this project? The house floor, the avenue, which was built to be a tourist attraction.
Intentionally designed to be as community-friendly as possible, with a wide range of activities, it looks peaceful and super chill.
Hello Craft
Held on December 5-10
The event features a contemporary handmade market and restaurants that are committed to responsible production for consumers and the environment. Oh, just hearing about it makes me excited.
Let's go for a walk.
Paid 20 baht for the entrance fee and got this. It's like a blast from the past.
I got pumped once, overlapping the Warm up mark with the elephant pose that I forgot to scrub with soap while showering. I realized that I didn't shower properly and I'm a dirty person.
It's truly a joy to be here. If I were with someone, I'm sure we'd get some really cool photos.
They came as a couple, while I came alone. A little drama.
And this is the most impressive thing at the event. It's so cute. Normally, you shoot cans, ducks, and geese.
Only 20 baht for 5 or 6 bullets, I can't remember.
Super worth it, got a prize too
This is so cool! It lets Korean people write our names in Korean, and the writer is so cute.
Long live the King.
Before heading to another hotel on Cow Lane, I'll sneak in another visit to the NAP event. It's evening now, so there should be a lot of people.
We're almost at the last hotel, the last night. Are you guys tired yet? Let me go to the beach for a while. I'll update you later.
Please follow my IG for more travel inspiration. I have many trips documented there.
This is the last hotel of our Chiang Mai trip, "She-La-Pee".
5 Oxotel Hotel, Wualai Road
The new hostel that everyone in the city is talking about is the most amazing creation ever. I found this hotel while searching the web. I really like the design, but from the pictures, the hotel doesn't look very big. When I actually saw it, I was shocked. It's so amazing!
And then I chose to stay as usual. The Dormitory room costs 450 baht. I checked in quite late in the evening. At that time, there was a walking street in front of the hotel. I was so hungry that I ate two cows. I ate all the way to the hotel.
Anything now, please go straight to put the bag first. I'm very tired, the bag is from buying things here and there. Nap and hello craft.
The path to the bathroom is like a separate building, making it look like a dimension that enhances the magnificence of the cow-patterned work according to the concept.
The hostel is right on the street, so it's very lively.
A bull and a cow
My current roommates are two foreign men. From their accents, they seem to be American with a somewhat hipster look.
The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, making it a great place to unwind. Since it's the last night of the trip, I wanted a chill vibe, so I chose to hang out at Good View.
There are enough tables. The weather turned out to be very cold on the last night, so I didn't want to go back. That night, I drank with two juniors I had just met.
- Four towers of beer are gone, of course I'm drunk. -
Upon arriving at the hotel, I encountered my Room Mate engaged in conversation with another Thai gentleman.
When the man turned to talk to me, I was shocked because he was the owner of the hotel. He was sitting there so discreetly that he looked like a customer. So he ended up striking up a conversation with me.
I learned that Oxotel was founded by a group of architect friends, just like
The name Oxotel comes from the fact that the hotel is located on Wualai Road. And what's cool is that the building is a converted building.
It's hard to believe that this used to be a wholesale liquor store. Since the new owners took over, everything has changed for the better. They've managed to address the previous shortcomings and create a much more pleasant atmosphere.
The building's strengths are very well highlighted. The entire space is spacious. As it is a hotel designed by an architect, the decoration in various parts
This results in a well-organized thought process and the selection of materials and objects that are arranged in a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing manner. The lobby is as beautiful as a 3-star hotel.
View of the classic car showroom is beautiful.
I'll update you later. My brothers and sisters are very friendly. This morning I had to wake up early to fly back home. From the beer I drank last night, my brain is only working at 40%.
Balancing is called 0. I have very little time, I'm afraid of missing my flight, so I didn't eat breakfast. But the hotel staff still volunteered to warm up the croissants and pack them in a box for me.
Thank you very much. I am very impressed.
If you look closely, the hotel's logo is derived from the shape of the stairs. As the building is old, the owner decided to take
Cool features to use.
This place has a water dispenser for your convenience. If you don't have a key, you can buy one yourself. It's really convenient.
I heard this cabinet costs hundreds of thousands.
The last morning in Chiang Mai was bittersweet, but it was also the best memory. Each of the five nights here, each place had a different story and memory.
We thought we would be in a regular City Car, but we were wrong. The owner took us in his favorite classic car. I was so impressed.
It's the feeling of experiencing a hostel that's not just about sleeping. It's about being immersed in the atmosphere, the place, and it makes this trip end beautifully.
My 5-day, 5-night trip started with the anxiety of flying solo, but I ended up meeting many new friends.
Thank you to the host, friend of a friend, and many others here for recommending places. It was cool. It turned out to be a fun trip. It was tiring to move hotels.
And every place has a different memory. It's a joy every time I look at every picture I've taken.
Thank you, every song that has been with us. Now that I'm back to listen to each song, I still remember every place where each song was played.
Thank you to all my friends who have been following me. I didn't think there would be so many people reading.
