Suddenly, I felt like taking a relaxing boat ride. It would be so romantic. I want to take a boat ride to see the red lotus fields, and the closest place to me would be Phatthalung. I also want to see the way of life of the fishermen who catch fish with giant fishing nets, which is unique to that place.
The place we are going to is Pakpra. Why is it called Pakpra? Pakpra is the name of an important canal in Phatthalung. It flows from various streams to converge into the Pakpra Canal and then flows into Songkhla Lake. It is like an important gateway for water used for agriculture and for fish to swim in and out. Therefore, the Pakpra Canal area has become a gathering place for fish. So it is not surprising to see many giant fish traps.
We've arrived at Sri Pakpra, a resort, restaurant, and tour operator.
And this is the entrance, decorated in a cute way, while still maintaining the local style. There is also a "yo", which is a symbol of the local identity.
And this is the view of the restaurant, you could say it's right next to the giant swing of the villagers.
The restaurant has a music booth. During the day, they play relaxing music, and in the evening, there is live music.
It's almost evening now, and from where this shop is located, you won't be able to see the sunset. But since I didn't know where else to go, I came here to watch the evening light. I just found out later that there is the 80th Anniversary Bridge not far from here, which is a good spot for taking pictures. I'll keep that in mind for my next visit, haha.
While waiting for the sunset, I explored the area.
This is the entrance to the resort. There are bicycles as props for taking pictures.
There is a gallery of celebrities who have visited here.
Then contact us about the boat that will travel in the morning to see the giant water lilies, the red lotus sea, and the Amazon forest for a private charter of 1,200 baht. But if you only want to see the giant water lilies in the evening, it will be much cheaper, around 50-100 baht.
We decided to rent a boat in the morning because the giant swing and the beautiful morning light would be amazing. Let's see if we made the right decision. But first, the sun is about to set and the evening light is starting to come in. Let's take some photos.
The dining area has a giant swing for us to play on, it feels like we're actually riding a giant swing. It's a different kind of experience.
After taking photos, we ordered some rice to eat. It wasn't too expensive. We ordered 3 single dishes for 3 people, and it cost a little over 100 baht. I didn't take any photos of the food, sorry about that. We were so hungry, we just ate it all. Enjoy the atmosphere instead.
It's not crowded in the evening. It gets crowded late at night.
After finishing our meal, we took a leisurely stroll around the area. There were accommodations scattered throughout the vicinity, including some near the scenic viewpoint.
However, we did not stay at this accommodation. But from what I saw on the price tag, it is around this price.
Sripakpra Deluxe Room: Price of a deluxe room
Monday - Thursday Price 1,500 Baht
Friday - Sunday Price 2,000 Baht
Public holiday in January 2,000 baht
Price includes breakfast for 2 people
Sripakpra Villa Room: Villa room rates
Monday - Thursday Price 2,000 Baht
Friday - Sunday Price 2,500 Baht
Public holiday 2,500 baht
Price includes breakfast for 2 people
The interior is comfortable, while the exterior is surrounded by nature. If I wanted to photograph the stars, I would probably stay here because it's right next to the mountain. However, the sky was bright during that time, so I couldn't see any stars. Also, my budget was limited, so I drove to a hotel in the city center.
We are staying at the City Park Hotel. It is located in the city center and the room rate is 900 baht per room.
The bathroom is also okay.
I then lay down to sleep. When I woke up, it was past four in the morning. We had a boat scheduled for five o'clock. Usually, they schedule it for six in the morning, but we wanted to take pictures of the morning light before then. The gate closes at five, so we had to schedule him to come and open it for us.
The light has started to come, the boat driver has arrived, but we haven't left yet. Haha, let's take some pictures of the morning light here first. He said that it will take a total of 2 hours. We can tell him which points we want to stop at especially, and he will make up the time at other points to make it 2 hours. But actually, it's flexible. He's kind.
While waiting for the light, I took some photos from the side.
At six in the morning, the fishermen started to cast their nets to catch fish.
When the net is lifted, the fish are scooped up.
Then we set sail, along with other tourist boats.
Tell the boat to row and enjoy the sunset and the morning light.
After being fully satisfied with the giant catfish, we sailed to the Thale Noi Lake. However, along the way, there were many flocks of birds.
And there are some sea buffalo to be seen.
We have arrived at Talay Noi, where there are countless red lotus flowers and birds. It's truly breathtaking! Although it's called "Talay Noi" which means "small sea" in Thai, it's actually a freshwater lake. Locals often refer to it as the "Talay Noi Waterbird Park," which is also the first wildlife sanctuary in Thailand.
There are quite a few tourists.
There are lotus flowers, birds, tourists, villagers and lighthouses to take pictures of.
The bright red lotus flowers bloom in full bloom in the water where this type of lotus grows. It is another color of beauty that goes hand in hand with the lesser sea that has been together for a long time.
Then it was time to head into the Amazon rainforest (that's what the boat captain told me). Since it would be too hot to go back the way we came, we decided to take this route through the forest. It was another kind of exciting.
Along the way, we saw many villagers fishing. Our boatman greeted them in a friendly manner.
Some sections of the road are narrow, so be careful, but there's nothing too dangerous.
It was an amazing experience! We got to see the local villagers' way of life up close, admire the lotus fields in the morning, watch the water buffalo, and take a boat ride through the forest. It was definitely one of the best trips I've ever taken.
After that, we went back to our accommodation, checked out, and headed home. This trip was amazing, I must say!
