Hello everyone. This is Penguin's Travel Episode 2. For this trip, we will be going on a one-day snorkeling backpacker trip to Koh Saemsan in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province.

On this trip, I met a fellow traveler, a junior whom I met by chance while visiting Koh Samet. Her name is "Nong Poo". Our journey will begin at Victory Monument.

We'll meet up a bit earlier because there are many activities for us to do on the island.

Stepping out with a suitcase, let's travel with the penguin.

Interesting facts

1. The peak tourist season is from early March to mid-June.

2. Tickets for the ferry to Koh Samae San can be purchased without advance booking. On weekdays, the island is not very crowded and there is no need to book tickets. You can buy tickets and board the ferry directly. On weekends and public holidays, the island is quite crowded and you need to book ferry tickets in advance. There are 5 ferry departures, with the first departure at approximately 7:00 AM (time is not fixed). Tickets may be sold out before 8:00 AM, but if you are lucky, you may be able to get a ticket around 10:00 AM. This is because the island only allows a maximum of 500 tourists per day.

3. There are no restaurants on the island, so you need to buy lunch boxes from the mainland to eat on the island. There is drinking water for sale on the island, and there are lockers for rent. There are separate bathrooms for men and women.

4. No alcohol consumption allowed.

5. Do not wear unhealthy bikinis.

6. Do not litter to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of nature.

7. Do not touch marine life or natural plants.

Traveling to Koh Samet, Sattahip

-Private car

Take the Bangkok - Rayong Motorway.

From the Bangkok Motorway, at the end of the road that intersects with the Chonburi bypass, drive straight towards Rayong. Pass the interchange that diverts left to Laem Chabang. You may choose to change your route and use this road to Sukhumvit Road, but it is recommended to continue driving straight towards Rayong. At the interchange, turn left towards Rayong and look for the signpost for Sattahip. When you reach the Sattahip intersection, turn left onto Highway 331. Pass U-Tapao Airport and reach the traffic light intersection at Ban Kilometer 10. Drive straight along the route to Sattahip Port (Juk Samet Deep Sea Port). After a short distance, turn left into Ban Khlong Chansomsae. Look for the signpost for the Luang Pho Dam Shrine and the Marine Science Museum of Thailand. Drive towards the signpost for the Marine Science Museum of Thailand. The pier to Koh Kham will be located inside the museum.

From Sukhumvit Road

From Bangna, drive straight to Rayong, passing Chonburi, Bangsaen, Sriracha, Pattaya, and Sattahip. From the Sattahip intersection, note the car's mileage. When you reach kilometer 6, there will be a large intersection. Turn right and follow the road to Sattahip Port. At the intersection where the road intersects with the one coming from Ban Kilometer 10, turn right and follow the same route as Route 1, using Highway 331.

-Public transportation

Take a bus from Bangkok to Rayong (old route, not the new route). Tell the driver to drop you off at Sattahip Market. Once you arrive at Sattahip Market, take a blue songthaew (shared taxi) with a sign that says "Saemsarn" on the front. To be sure, ask the driver if they go to Khao Ma Cho Pier or the Underwater Conservation Center. This songthaew will take you to the front of the center.

- Minivan

From Victory Monument, take a van to Sattahip and get off at Sattahip Market. Then take a shared taxi, which is the same as the one used for traveling by bus.

EP."Samaesarn Island"

Our journey began with an early morning departure. We met at the van queue at Anusawari (next to 7-Eleven on the Century Mall side) at 6:30 AM. We purchased round-trip tickets for 140 baht per person.

The car leaves at 7:15 AM and takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach Sattahip District, Chonburi Province.

After getting off the bus, we need to take a blue songthaew to Khao Ma Jor Pier. It costs 30 baht per person and takes about 10-15 minutes.

Very lucky, the sky is open today.

Take a songthaew, sit comfortably and enjoy the sea view.

Upon arrival, present your ID card to the officer (1 card per person). Purchase a boat ticket for 300 baht (per person). This ticket also grants you access to the Thai Island and Marine Natural History Museum.

Due to our tight boarding time, we need to leave at 11:00 AM and also factor in time to buy lunch boxes.

In front of the island, there is a coffee shop and a souvenir shop. Next to it, there is a canteen where you can order lunch boxes and buy drinks to take with you to the island.

Waiting for lunchboxes 555+

Follow the signs, you won't get lost! Khao Ma Cho Pier!!

Tickets ready to go!

The destination is right there. Run for another 5 minutes. The boat is leaving.

From the shore, it takes about 10-15 minutes to cross to Ko Samaesan. You will be greeted by a long white sandy beach.

Upon arrival at Koh Samet, you will be greeted by a navy officer who will provide a briefing on the history of the island, its natural environment, and recommend interesting activities (approximately 15 minutes).

Koh Saemsan has a total of 5 beaches.

- Thian Beach is located on the eastern side of Koh Saemsan.

- Laem Farang Beach is located on the southeast side of Koh Saemsan.

-Tei Beach and Krad Beach are located on the west side of Koh Saemsar.

-Loog Lom Beach is located on the northern side of Samaesan Island.

Koh Samet has two beaches where you can swim and snorkel: Ao Thian and Ao Luk Lom.

Activities on Koh Samet Island

-Diving 2 beaches 1.Haad Thian (No diving due to coral bleaching) 2.Haad Look Lom

- Take a glass-bottom boat tour to see the coral reefs.

-Kayaking

  • Cycling on nature trails

- Hiking

-Beach volleyball

-Take a kayak

Transportation to Haad Luuk Lom is provided free of charge by park officials.

We have arrived at Hat Luk Lom, where the fine white sand contrasts beautifully with the crystal-clear water.

Our first activity today is a glass-bottom boat ride, which costs 20 baht per person and takes about 20 minutes.

The sea is full of sea urchins.

After taking a glass-bottom boat ride, we went up to take in the view of Haad Look Lom.

The prop is a boat.

Pay hundreds, get millions of views

Our second activity was snorkeling. The equipment used was the same set as used in many other reviews.

Scuba diving costs 50 baht (per person) and takes approximately 40-50 minutes.

The kind navy officer lent me fins, and with them, my diving experience was much better. 555+ Today, there were strong waves and a jellyfish invasion, so we had to be careful while diving. The staff took very good care of us, carefully watching out for jellyfish and helping us stay safe.

The resident clownfish swam out to greet them.

Thank you to the diving team, the glass-bottom boat team, and all the navy officers who took such good care of us.

Thank you, Nong Poo, for being my travel companion.
