Greetings everyone, as the cold wind blows, the mist floats through the mountains.
The arrival of winter is heralded by this sign, prompting us to pack our bags and embark on a mountain adventure.
I had the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful and romantic getaway, perfect for a couple's retreat. The destination I'm about to present is likely familiar to many of you, a place you may have visited before and eagerly anticipate returning to: Doi Mae Salong in Chiang Rai Province. This location holds historical significance for the Chinese people who migrated there and serves as a source of livelihood for both the Chinese and tribal communities residing on Doi Mae Salong. The mountain boasts numerous tourist attractions, and in this post, I'll share my personal recommendations for places to visit and stay.
…………………………………………
The journey from Chiang Rai city to Doi Mae Salong is on a paved road, but there is currently road construction on the way up to Doi Mae Salong, which may make the road a bit muddy. The travel time from Chiang Rai city to Doi Mae Salong is approximately 1.30 hours.

Romantic accommodation on Doi Mae Salong
…………………………………………
The Hongfu Boutique Resort is a romantic getaway that offers exceptional service and a stunning atmosphere. The resort's cuisine is particularly noteworthy, with delicious dishes that will tantalize your taste buds. To reach the Hongfu Resort, simply drive to the Cha Market in Doi Mae Salong. Continue straight past the market and the path leading to the Phra That Si Nakarin temple. After approximately 1 kilometer, the Hongfu Resort will be on your left. In front of the resort, you'll find a small tea shop where you can purchase and sample organic tea from the Hongfu tea plantation.

The room I stayed in did not have air conditioning, as the weather on Doi Mae Salong is relatively cool. The temperature was around 14 degrees Celsius when I visited.
Just open the window and you will see a beautiful view.
No need to go far, you can enjoy the beautiful view from the balcony of your room.
After settling into your room, let's head out to explore the city and make the most of our time.
The first stop on this trip is just a stone's throw away from the resort, only 100 meters away.
"Museum of the Heroic Former Chinese Soldiers of the National Army"
The entrance fee is 20 baht per person. The Museum of the Veterans of the Former Chinese Nationalist Army in Northern Thailand serves as a community resource center for the Santikiri Village. It was established to commemorate the history of the "93rd Division," which assisted the Thai government in fighting and suppressing communists in the Doi Luang, Doi Yao, and Doi Pha Mon areas of Chiang Rai Province between 1971 and 1985, and in the Khao Ya area of Phetchabun Province in 1981. During these battles, many former Chinese Nationalist soldiers were wounded or killed. In recognition of their service, the Thai government granted these former soldiers and their families Thai citizenship. This act of kindness deeply moved the former Chinese Nationalist soldiers.
The museum complex consists of three buildings. Buildings 1 and 2, located on the left and right sides, house exhibits showcasing the history of the community on Doi Mae Salong, the history of the Chinese Nationalist Army, their settlement in Thailand, and a library containing historical information and photographs. Building 3, the central building, serves as a memorial hall for the Chinese Nationalist Army in northern Thailand. It displays the names of numerous soldiers and participants in the war.
After leaving the "Museum of Chinese Nationalist Veterans", I noticed a beautiful stupa on a hill less than 100 meters away. I decided to pay my respects, but I apologize for not being able to name it.
The next stop is the "Santitham Temple", where you can admire the beauty of the Phra Maha Chedi Thep Nimit Tham, which is just as stunning as any other temple in Chiang Rai. Santitham Temple is located in Moo 4, Mae Salong Nok Subdistrict, Mae Fah Luang District.
After admiring the beauty of the Phra Maha Chedi Thep Nimit Tham until the sun began to set, it was time to witness the breathtaking sunset. The designated sunset viewing point is located near the entrance to "Phra That Si Nakarin," a newly constructed spot offering stunning views of the setting sun.
It's getting dark, it's time for dinner. Tonight, I'm having dinner at the resort.
Capturing the ambiance of the resort's tea shop before heading up for dinner.
The resort's dining room is spacious and can accommodate approximately 50 guests.
This meal is amazing! I'm so hungry after a long day of sightseeing. We ordered enough food for two people, and I'm stuffed! Each dish is huge.
Signature dish: Braised pork leg with steamed buns
Recommended menu: Bamboo shoot clear soup
Recommended menu: Braised shiitake mushrooms with savory seafood dipping sauce.
Finally, the tea leaf salad is a must-try. Its zesty flavor is sure to please young people. In short, every dish at Hong Fu Resort is delicious. If you don't believe me, come and try it yourself.
After a satisfying meal, I took a short break to allow my food to settle before continuing my photography session. I find immense joy in pursuing my passion, which in this case was astrophotography. I eagerly drove to Wat Phra That Santitham, determined to capture stunning images of the stars. However, my excitement was short-lived as my memory card filled up quickly, limiting the number of stars I could capture.
The frustration lingered, but I managed to continue shooting from the balcony of my resort room. The view was just as stunning, although this shot also has a flaw: I forgot about the condensation, which covered the entire lens. The air was humid and very cold that night, around 14 degrees Celsius.
Not only that, you can also wake up early to watch the sunrise at "Phra That Si Nakarin", where the view below will be the village on Doi Mae Salong.
In the morning, there are many photogenic corners in front of the resort, including a corner with sheep, a corner with cats, and a corner with beautifully colored maple leaves.
A refreshing start to the day with a self-made siphon coffee. The perfect way to enjoy a rich and flavorful cup.
It was time to return, but not before another stop at the local market. The market offered a wide variety of goods, including tea, plums, local fruits, and other items. I purchased some of these as gifts for my boss, friends, and significant other.
A must-visit spot in Mae Salong is the tea plantation. Stop by Wang Puttal Tea Plantation, where the tea fields stretch as far as the eye can see.
The final stop on this trip is the 101 Tea Plantation, a vast tea farm located on the way up to Mae Salong.
And finally, this trip has safely returned home. I would like to thank everyone who has read this far. Thank you very much everyone.
Please follow my small travel adventures.
