Hello, fellow travelers!^^ After returning from Chiang Mai last December,

I finally have time to write a short review to share information for tourists who are interested in traveling to "Mae Kampong" without a private car.

Review

"Mae Kampong: Let's live a simple life... 2 days 1 night by bus + motorbike"

I have visited Chiang Mai countless times.

Chiang Mai has numerous tourist attractions, and I have visited at least 10 of them.

Today, I am visiting Chiang Mai again.

Our destination is Mae Kampong, a small village nestled amidst the mountains, with a gentle stream flowing through it.

Surrounded by simple houses, the village is located just 100 kilometers from Chiang Mai city, making it an ideal getaway for relaxation.

Essential expenses for this trip

- Roundtrip bus fare is approximately 1300 baht per person.

  • Motorcycle rental for 2 days: 600 baht.

- Fuel for round trip 150 baht (including driving around Chiang Mai city)

- Maekampong Homestay 550 Baht (2 meals included) /person/night - The accommodation will be a shared bathroom.

Embark on a Journey

We departed from Bangkok at 8:30 PM by tour bus >> Arriving in Chiang Mai at 5:30 AM.

After completing personal tasks, such as washing my face and brushing my teeth, I walked to a nearby motorbike shop located in front of the Akhet Bus Terminal.

We booked the motorcycle about a month in advance because we were worried about getting an old one. We had heard that...

The road leading up to Mae Kampong can be quite steep in some sections, so it's important to choose a vehicle in good condition.

After getting our trusty car for our Chiang Mai travel adventure, we decided to stop by the morning market for a quick bite of hot coffee, bread, and soft-boiled eggs.

The distance from Chiang Mai city to Mae Kampong is approximately 50 km, with a travel time of about 1 hour.

Before entering Mae Kampong village, let's stop for a photo.

And this is the bedroom, there are many power outlets, which is great. As for the fan and air conditioner, they are not needed because the weather is good and it is very cold, even to the point of being freezing! 555+

Relaxing seating area in front of the room

The lower floor of the accommodation offers coffee and Ovaltine for consumption. Dinner is served at 6:00 PM, and tourists must gather here to enjoy the evening meal.

After checking in and exploring the accommodation, around 3 pm, I decided to relax at a coffee shop.

The Chom Nok Chom Mai Cafe is a landmark in Mae Kampong. It's a small, cozy cafe with a view of the village.

They offer coffee, pastries, bakery items, and ice cream.

Stop 2 >> Mae Kampong Waterfall Take some photos here.

3rd Place >> Doi Tung Royal Project

6:00 PM Gather downstairs for a simple dinner.

After dinner, we went for a walk around the shops.

And then take a picture of another landmark >> Uncle Pud, Aunt Pung (In the evening, there are a lot of people, so I have to sneak in to take a picture in the dark, lol)

The morning atmosphere at Mae Kampong is bustling with tourists.

Thank you for joining us on this journey.
