What should we eat? ..at the Agriculture Fair 2017
On January 28, 2017, I had the opportunity to revisit my alma mater during its annual "Agricultural Fair." This was the second day of the event, which runs until February 4th. I would like to share some of the early event highlights.
However, it is important to note that this visit took place during the daytime, which may not fully capture the vibrant atmosphere of the event at night. Additionally, due to time constraints, only a limited selection of the food stalls and areas could be explored. This article will primarily focus on the culinary offerings of the Agricultural Fair. What food is available at the fair? What are some recommendations? Let's embark on a culinary journey together!
The annual Agriculture Fair will be held from January 27 to February 4, 2017, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM at Kasetsart University, Bangkhen Campus.
Recommendations:
- The most convenient way to travel is by public transportation.
- Phahonyothin Road should be avoided due to traffic congestion caused by construction. / Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road is a faster and more convenient route (although there may be some congestion, it is still better than Phahonyothin Road).
- The weather during the day at the event will be very hot and humid, and it will be crowded, especially on weekends.
- Due to the large crowds, please take care of your belongings and valuables.
The Agricultural Fair covers a vast area, divided into various zones, including ornamental plants, vegetables and fruits, pets, consumer goods, OTOP products, sweet tamarind, student shops, etc., as well as areas for activities and performances. Before visiting, it is essential to study the map carefully to locate the desired zones. The map is available in the event brochure, which can be obtained at all entrance gates.

KASET FAIR 2017: Agricultural Fair 2017
Entering the event... Walking into the event from the Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road entrance, the number of visitors attending the agricultural fair is quite high, as today is a holiday.
Zone F: Treasures from the Earth and Water (Vegetables, Fruits, and Processed Products)
Upon entering the first zone, the vegetable and fruit zone, visitors are immediately greeted with the opportunity to sample fresh strawberries. Numerous vendors eagerly offer tastings, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
As requested, here are fresh, sweet strawberries.
Let's take a walk around this area first. There are a few seedless grape shops scattered around.
Cape gooseberry is a fruit that is rich in vitamin C, which can help prevent colds. It is also rich in vitamin A, which helps maintain healthy eyesight.
Zone G: Sweet Tamarind (Sports Complex Area)
A staple at the agricultural fair is the **sweet tamarind**. Numerous stalls display impressive piles of the fruit, and vendors eagerly offer samples to passersby. Be warned: you might find yourself full before you even start shopping!
Passing by this way... I had to give it a try!
Let's find something else to eat. There's also... fried chicken.
The aroma of the honey-baked pork ribs was equally tempting.
The grilled chicken looks delicious.
Assorted Meat BBQ
This crispy pork rind stall is a popular spot at the agricultural fair, with many visitors enjoying the opportunity to sample the crispy pork rinds and try a variety of dipping sauces for free.
"Try a taste of the chili paste. If you like it, you can buy some to take home."
Friend Cheese Shop is a popular spot for young people, with its extensive cheese offerings. The shop is located opposite the hockey field and offers a variety of cheese products starting at 59 baht.
As a cheese enthusiast, I couldn't resist trying the cheese fries. The fries were generously coated with melted cheese, creating a truly indulgent experience. I was thoroughly satisfied with this dish.
On a hot day, a glass of orange juice is a must.
Student Shop Zone and Student Club Restaurant
Next, we move on to the **student store and student club restaurant zone**. In this zone, you will see booths set up by students from Kasetsart University, offering a wide variety of products for sale, ranging from food and beverages to clothing and accessories. The products vary depending on the faculty, club, and interests of the students involved.
#SeafoodFisheries: A Student-Run Restaurant of the Faculty of Fisheries
**For fresh and diverse seafood dishes at affordable prices, this restaurant is a must-visit.** Located near the Thepsatri Building, it opens in the late afternoon. It is recommended to dine early in the evening, as some menu items may sell out if you arrive too late. The restaurant is consistently crowded every night. Contact details can be found in the image.
#IndianBar: A Forestry Student Restaurant
This restaurant offers delicious food and beautiful music from the faculty band! (Located next to the Sports Office)
#Humberger from the Faculty of Humanities (Shop located in front of the Judo Club)

If you're feeling hot, consider supporting the students by purchasing a refreshing ITALIAN SODA (non-alcoholic).
Mr. Mustache's packaging is also noteworthy.
#Maodivebar also offers refreshing ITALIAN SODA (non-alcoholic) to quench your thirst and beat the heat. Prices start at only 29 baht.
Customize your flavor and color preferences (similar to a traditional Thai herbal liquor stall).
I tried a cup to support the students. It seems like I got... a lot of extra toppings too.. 55+
The crowdedness of the event and the rather stifling air during the day certainly helped a lot.
Nearby, there is another recommended restaurant to try, from the Mushroom Club.
It is a mushroom ice cream, and what it tastes like... I'm curious too... I guess we'll just have to try it ourselves.
Fresh milk in various flavors, priced at 10 baht per bag, is available for purchase to take home.
Affordable cake shop 35 baht per piece / 3 pieces for 100 baht
Zone D: Floating Market - Ancient Floating Market
For those who want to experience the atmosphere of a floating market, this zone is a must-visit. (Located at the Museum Office) It recreates the atmosphere of a floating market with a variety of delicious savory and sweet dishes, as well as renowned local wisdom products from famous floating markets such as Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market, Amphawa Floating Market, Kwan Riam Floating Market, and MahaNakhon Ancient Floating Market.
Zone E: Culinary Delights of the Thai Land
This zone brings together delicious and famous foods from every region of Thailand. You can find and buy food from each region without having to travel far.
Grilled squid with seafood dipping sauce.
The colorful appearance of the Khanom Tan makes it visually appealing.
Many dishes are available for free tasting. You might get full before you even order, as you can try everything at every stall.
Grilled pork from Trang, a long journey from the southern region.
And also the menu "Ma Ya" ... oh no, I mean, this is a dog in the pet zone sleeping peacefully!
In addition to the examples mentioned above, the Agricultural Fair also features numerous shops and restaurants across various zones, catering to diverse preferences. Exploring the entire event thoroughly would likely require more than a single day.
