7 Reasons Why I Fell in Love with "Koh Kood," the Enchanting Island of the Eastern Sea

Koh Kood: A Hidden Gem in the Eastern Sea

"Hey, believe it or not, Koh Kood is amazing!"

We want to shout it out loud to anyone who hasn't been here yet. It's incredible that the last island in the eastern waters could be so incredibly feel-good! Come along, Epring and Yai Muey will take you to chill out on Koh Kood.

Koh Kood, the last island of the Gulf of Thailand

Koh Kood, beautiful sand, clear water, we love it!

Koh Kood, I'm already in love with your charm.

Do you know Koh Kood yet?

From Bangkok, it takes about 4-5 hours to drive to Trat province. If you're coming to Koh Kood, it's better to plan a trip for 3 days and 2 nights.

Koh Kood is located in Trat province. It's the last island in the eastern waters of Thailand. Beyond Koh Kood, you'll enter Cambodian waters. Koh Kood is the fourth largest island in Thailand and has a very well-preserved natural environment. The island has several large waterfalls, such as Klong Chao Waterfall and Klong Yai Kee Waterfall. It also boasts beautiful sandy beaches, crystal-clear seawater, lush greenery, and a thriving mangrove forest with diverse coral reefs.

Historical Traces of Koh Kood

Evidence of Koh Kood's existence dates back to the reign of King Rama I (King Phra Phutthayotfa Chulalok). "Ong Chiang See," a Vietnamese lord who sought refuge under the king's protection, fled Bangkok and boarded a ship at Koh Sichang. He then sailed for seven days in the Gulf of Thailand before reaching the uninhabited Koh Kood. The original inhabitants of Koh Kood were mostly Thais who migrated from the city of Phetchaburi (Koh Kong).

Traveling by Boat

You can take a boat from various piers in Trat province. We chose to take a speed ferry from Laem Ngop Pier, which takes only 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach Ao Salad Pier on Koh Kood. From there, you can take a shared taxi to your resort. The boat fare is 350 baht.

Traveling by Plane

If you have a bigger budget, we recommend taking a private plane to Koh Mai Si Island (located near Koh Kood). From there, a boat will take you to Koh Kood.

"Because traveling makes our world bigger," this sentence made my girlfriend and I hold hands and set out to explore the world. We created a small page called "Escape Work to Travel" and a blog called www.ibreak2travel.com.

Reading this far, we want to say… Looking back several years ago when we first met, "I was a tourist who had to work a regular job, and my girlfriend was someone who worked a regular job but wanted to travel." We were so different, but when we started dating, our differences found a balance that led us to the point where we wanted to create a page to take our fellow working friends on trips with us. If we can do it, anyone can do it!

Please support us by liking our page. It will encourage us and let us know that you are still with us. "Work hard, but know how to travel."

Let's start at the Nang Phaya Pier in Trat Province.

Koh Kood Express Ferry Ticket Booth

This trip, we took a Koh Kood Express Speed Ferry from Laem Sok Pier in Trat Province. The fare was 350 baht per person, and the journey took only 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Form two lines to board the boat.

The Speed Furry boat can accommodate 180 passengers and has two decks. The upper deck is open-air, allowing passengers to enjoy the sea breeze, while the lower deck is air-conditioned and features comfortable seating. The boat is beautifully decorated and includes restrooms. The cleanliness is satisfactory. If the boat is not crowded, passengers can comfortably lie down and even use life jackets as pillows.

The upper deck is a great spot for enjoying the breeze and the view. If you're not afraid of heights, you can even sit on the edge. Most of the tourists who visit Koh Kood are foreigners.

Arrived at Ao Salat Pier on Koh Kood.

Upon arrival at Ao Salad Pier, a shared taxi will transport you to your chosen resort. For this trip, we stayed at Koh Kood Paradise Beach Resort, which is conveniently located near the island's center, approximately 15-20 minutes away.

The majority of roads on the island are well-paved with concrete.

Reason 1: Escape to the Sea

The sea at Koh Kood is more beautiful than many other islands in the Gulf of Thailand. The sand is fine and the water is crystal clear. The area where we stayed is located near the deep-sea port.

**Hat Taephao offers breathtaking sunset views.**

Several swings are tied in front of the beach.

Let's take a look at this Russian-French woman. Oh my, she's stunning!

Reason 2: Change your view...recharge your heart

Visiting the sea is like recharging. Just by taking ourselves out of the four walls and seeing beautiful views and lush greenery, we feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

Nature is truly wondrous. It has the power to energize, heal, and bring us profound joy.

I love swinging on this hammock. It's so relaxing to lie here and feel the sea breeze. Oh, it's pure bliss!

Visiting an island like this, you have to have a selfie spot. Any angle is good.

Hooray!!! Visiting Koh Kood Island is so good!

The crystal-clear seawater is a rare treat.

Kayaking is a fun activity. We think that foreigners enjoy water activities a lot, and Thai people are no different.

Reason 3: Nature is Calling

Go jump in the waterfalls of Khlong Yai Kee and Huai Nam Khieo, and see the giant Makha trees.

Ko Kood boasts an abundance of natural beauty, including pristine streams and numerous waterfalls. Come and explore the natural wonders of Ko Kood!

Khlong Ya Kee Waterfall, also known as Khlong Kee Waterfall

Foreigners will also come to sunbathe.

Simply gazing at the waterfall brings immense joy.

Crystal clear water.

From Khlong Yai Kee Waterfall, we also visited Huwang Nam Khieo Waterfall.

Green Valley Waterfall

During the dry season, the water level may be low. However, Huai Nam Khaew Waterfall is known as a hidden gem, with relatively few tourists visiting. To reach the waterfall, visitors must carefully climb over rocks. Please exercise caution when visiting this location.

After climbing to the bottom of the waterfall, I must say it was spectacular.

Giant Makha tree: I must say that this is the first time I have ever seen a Makha tree this tall with my own eyes.

Reason 4: Peace and Tranquility at "Magock Home"

Another must-visit location is Baan Makok Homestay, a vintage-style riverside homestay with a relaxing atmosphere and proximity to the mangrove forest. It offers food and beverage services (even for non-guests), a spa, and guest rooms.

Entrance to Makok House

An inviting atmosphere that makes you want to sit and relax all day long.

There are many cool corners for taking pictures.

"Muay loves children. Little Charlie loves playing in the water the most."

The most popular drink is lemon soda. When you order it, the shop will bring you the soda and let you add it yourself. 5555

Reason 5: To The Sea The Resort Koh Kood

On Koh Kood, there is another resort with stunning views: To the Sea Resort. The highlight of this resort is the wooden balcony that extends out into the sea, resembling a pier.

One of the renowned resorts on Koh Kood, it has hosted numerous celebrities and actors. The views are decent, and the resort's design is stylish.

The sun was not harsh, the sky was cloudy, so the little girl was not afraid of the sun. She sat and enjoyed the sea view.

We like this angle facing the sea.

Reason 6: Koh Kood Paradise Beach Resort

This trip, we stayed at Koh Kood Paradise Beach Resort, which truly lives up to its name. The resort is newly opened, but I must say that the design is perfect for those who love to relax. The rooms are tropical-style villas with a lot of space. The beds are huge and comfortable, and the bathroom is very spacious. Each room has a balcony, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a ceiling fan.

You can read reviews of the accommodation here: http://ibreak2travel.com/2017/02/15/koh-kood-parad...

Reason 7: Delicious Seafood at Baan Ao Yai

Upon arriving at Koh Kood, a must-try experience is indulging in the freshest seafood at the fishing village of Ao Yai.

At the fishing village, most villagers open seafood restaurants. There are many restaurants to choose from, depending on your preference.

Some restaurants have fish, crab, and shellfish ponds.

Fishing boats from Ban Ao Yai deliver seafood to various resorts.

Fishing village of Ao Yai

The restaurant we visited today is called Noochy Seafood.

A renowned restaurant in Ao Yai, offering delicious dishes with incredibly fresh ingredients. Rumor has it that actress Ploy Chermarn recently dined there.

The fresh oyster menu features oysters arranged in small, bite-sized cups, accompanied by fried shallots, seafood dipping sauce, and acacia leaves.

Deep-fried mantis shrimp with garlic, incredibly delicious!

Blue crab, not too small, not too big, but the meat is incredibly sweet and delicious.

The special menu ends with parrotfish sashimi, which has a soft and chewy texture and is very delicious.

I hope you enjoyed the 7 reasons why I love Koh Kood, the beautiful island of the Eastern Sea.
