Welcome to my travel journal! This is my first international trip review, and I'm excited to share my experiences with you. The trip lasted four days and three nights, covering Hat Yai, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur. Due to the abundance of photos, I'll be splitting the review into two parts. Let's begin our journey in the vibrant city of Penang, Malaysia!
Our journey began in Hat Yai, Thailand. We boarded a van and embarked on a four-hour journey. The border crossing was time-consuming due to the high volume of tourists. After clearing immigration at the Sadao checkpoint and the Malaysian checkpoint, we continued our journey to Penang, Malaysia.
The starting point is at the Komtar shopping mall, a department store located in the heart of Penang city. It is also a transportation hub, so no matter where you go, you can start from this mall and you won't get lost. When you arrive in Penang, get off the bus and look left and right. Where should you go? You need to calm down and be mindful.
The first thing you need to do is buy a SIM card. You can buy it at the Komtar mall, on the 3rd floor. It took me a long time to find it. There are many different SIM card systems and networks. Choose according to the price. I got one for 20 ringgit, which is 200 Thai baht. Then, check into your accommodation. I was very tired from the bus ride. This time, I stayed near George Town at a hotel called M Hotel.
After a refreshing shower and a short nap, it was time to explore the city of Penang. We set off on foot, feeling strangely familiar with the surroundings. No need to worry about getting lost, just keep the Komtar building in sight and you'll be fine. We encountered mosques, churches, Chinese temples, and even passed through Little India, a vibrant district with the unmistakable aroma of Indian spices wafting through the air.
Walking through, I encountered religious sites of all faiths, and the ancient sites were also diverse.

A must-visit location in Penang is Penang Hill, a viewpoint offering panoramic views of the city. Access is via funicular railway, with tickets costing 30 ringgit (approximately 300 baht). Opening hours are from 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM. To reach Penang Hill, take bus number 204 from Komtar building. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes and costs 2 ringgit (approximately 20 baht).
It's time to head back to the accommodation, but let's grab a bite to eat first. I haven't tried the food here yet. Let's stick to the same style: easy to eat, easy to sleep. I'll just eat whatever I find while walking. There's a small shop in front of the accommodation that looks like a tea shop back home. Let's have dinner here. But I wonder if I can eat this food. I'll have to try it.
This is a small fish chili paste with boiled egg, the taste is okay, spicy and creamy. Price 1 Ringgit.
This dish is stir-fried yellow noodles. The taste is oily and bland. I saw the menu sign in the shop and pointed at it. 555
Good morning on the 2nd day. Today, we have a plan to explore Street Art. I would like to inform you that we only have a few hours for this spot because we have to catch a flight to Kuala Lumpur. We got lost for a while because the GPS led us astray. As for my friend who will go to the starting point, it is still at the Komtar building. Then walk to George Town, find the World Heritage building, and then walk to Little India. You can rent a bicycle in that area. I recommend renting a bicycle because the paintings we are going to hunt are far apart. To save time, renting a bicycle is the most convenient. The bicycle rental price for 3 hours is 7 ringgit, but I'm not sure about the price for the whole day. Then you will get a map and you can start exploring.
Beat the heat with this refreshing treat! A scoop of shaved ice topped with sweet fruit syrup, all for just 3 ringgit.
Time is up in Penang. It's time to take the bus to the airport. For Street Art, I only got this much because I had little time. Walk back to the starting point to take the bus to Penang International Airport. Take bus number 1 to fly to Kuala Lumpur with AirAsia. It takes about 1 hour. The plane will land at KLIA2 and then take the bus to KL Sentral, which is near the accommodation we will stay in tonight.
Stay tuned for the next review of Kuala Lumpur...
