Hello everyone! This is my sixth travel review. This time, I chose to go to "Phuket" #JNLostInPhuket #PhuketSolo I went alone again, as usual... because when I planned the trip, I didn't invite anyone. I just wanted to go, so I went for a full 3 days and 2 nights. This time, I'm going to keep the review short, because something unexpected happened. My camera broke on the first day... I cried on the beach... Oh no!!!! Let's follow along...
Note 1: The photos from this trip aren't very good, but I just wanted to write a review of our travel experience. If you're only here for the photos, well...sorry!

Day 1: An Unplanned Airport Sleepover
Our journey began with an unexpected twist. Due to a booking error, we arrived at Don Mueang Airport at 1 am, much earlier than our 5:40 am flight. This oversight led to an unplanned adventure: sleeping at the airport!
As we had read online, the passenger terminal allows overnight stays. We found a spot near the Nok Air counter, close to the security guards for added peace of mind. We also secured a location near a power outlet to charge our devices for the day ahead.
The wait for the check-in counter to open at 4 am felt like an eternity. As soon as it did, we rushed to check in, eager to finally begin our trip.
Don Mueang at one in the morning is also quiet.
And we finally got our boarding passes!
Once we entered the gate, we were still waiting in circles. So I'm going to take a quick nap! I'm so sleepy.
Phuket, wait for me! I'm coming to see you soon.
We arrived at Phuket Airport at around 7:00 AM, which was on schedule and without significant delays.
After collecting our luggage, we set out to find a motorbike to rent. Our plan was to ride to Mai Khao Beach to watch and photograph airplanes landing close to the airport. We had researched rental options and found World Rent a Car, conveniently located just outside the airport. A short 300-meter walk to the left after exiting the terminal brought us to their office. The rental price was 300 baht per day, and we rented for three days, totaling 900 baht. Notably, there was no security deposit required.
Note: If you are not in a hurry, it is recommended to take the airport bus to the city center and rent a car there, as the airport is quite far from the city center.
The First Beach: Mai Khao Beach
The first beach we arrived at was "Mai Khao Beach". As mentioned earlier, we planned to sit and take pictures of airplanes landing close to the airport. However, during the month we visited, the airplanes were landing on the other side. Oh well! At least we got to see some birds.
If you want to see airplanes landing close to the beach, it's best to check the Jetradar app beforehand to avoid disappointment.
To get to Mai Khao Beach from the airport, drive along the airport fence until you reach a three-way intersection. Turn left towards Phang Nga, and then take another left turn. Continue driving for about 3 kilometers and then turn into Soi Mai Khao 5. You will see a pine forest; park your car there and walk along the beach until you reach your destination.
The waves on this beach are very strong, making it not ideal for swimming. However, since I wasn't able to take pictures of the airplanes, I decided to take some pictures of myself instead! I used a tripod and a remote to take the pictures myself.
After taking some photos to mark the start of our trip, we headed into the city to our accommodation for this trip…. And this is our accommodation in Phuket, "Blue monkey bed&breakfast". I won't review it in detail as many people have already done so… 555 It's a small, cute hotel with plenty of photogenic spots… The bed is soft and comfortable…
P.S. Actually, check-in is at 2 pm, but we arrived at 10 am, so we begged to check in early because we hadn't showered since last night…. 5555
This map of food options in the old city is located in the lobby near the check-in area. If you're looking for something to eat, be sure to check out this map first!
Our Sky Monkey, as the hotel's name suggests....
After freshening up, we headed to our first meal in Phuket. Based on reviews, we decided to try the highly-rated "Toop Ga Khao" restaurant. We followed Google Maps to get there, but it took us a while as we drove around in circles. Note: People in Phuket drive very fast, and we were constantly honked at throughout our trip! 5555
The stage suggests that there should be live music! But when we went during the day, there wasn't any. Haha.
The atmosphere is very good.... It's a great place to sit for a long time.
Having admired the restaurant's ambiance, let's move on to our first dish. This is a coconut crab curry with rice noodles, and let me tell you, it's incredibly delicious! (a million exclamation marks) The generous chunks of crab meat make it a signature dish of this establishment. On weekends, they serve it with rice vermicelli instead. If you're visiting Phuket, this is a must-try restaurant!
For those who come alone (like me), the restaurant also offers set meals. This is the "Moo Hong" set, served with fresh shrimp chili paste, which is also very delicious. This restaurant is amazing, you must try it!
After eating until we were about to burst, we set off for "Freedom Beach," a recently opened private beach. The journey was... arduous. We had to drive to Patong Beach, then turn left and drive all the way up the hill. In simpler terms, we went towards Paradise Beach but turned left at the junction. You can open Google Maps to navigate, but I guarantee you won't dare to drive there at first because it's a steep dirt road with a few small rocks that could cause a nasty fall. When we first saw the road, we thought the map was playing tricks on us. But it wasn't. If you keep driving, you'll eventually find it.
Upon reaching the parking area, we were required to pay an entrance fee of 200 baht per person. As we were about to pay, the staff member noticed our Thai identification cards. Initially, they had informed us that Korean visitors were granted free entry. Fortunately, they recognized us as Thai and allowed us to enter without charge. We then had to walk down to the beach, which was approximately one kilometer away. The path was well-maintained with steps leading all the way down.
As you walk, you will see this image. It is incredibly beautiful and peaceful!
After the camera broke, we went back to the hotel to rest and recover. At first, we were very disappointed and wanted to go home. However, since we were already there, we decided to make the most of our trip. After a short period of drama, we got hungry and it was time for dinner. We spent some time driving around Phuket town looking for a restaurant, going around and around until we found "The CAMP Grill n'Chill Phuket". It was a very relaxing place with both chairs and floor seating. Interestingly, it was only 5 minutes away from our accommodation! So, we decided to order some cocktails to cheer ourselves up.
And then... we finally arrived at Freedom Beach! It was amazing! When we arrived, we were the only ones on the entire beach! The highlight was that there was no phone signal to bother us. It's perfect for people who love peace and quiet and want to relax and listen to the sound of the waves. But heartbroken people should avoid coming alone! It's too quiet! 5555 And this is probably the last photo... because we dropped our camera in the sand, and it's gone forever.... From now on, it will be photos from our crappy phone camera.... Ughhhhh TT
After the camera broke, we went back to the hotel to rest and recover. At first, we were very disappointed and wanted to go home. However, since we were already there, we decided to make the most of it and go sightseeing. After a short period of drama, we got hungry! Dinner was served. We rode around Phuket town looking for a place to eat, driving around until we found this restaurant: "The CAMP Grill n'Chill Phuket." It's a very relaxed place with seating options that include chairs and floor cushions. Interestingly, it's only 5 minutes away from our accommodation! We decided to order some cocktails to cheer ourselves up.
Sipping cocktails alone is not enough, I need to pair it with a steak... This meal, I can enjoy myself even when I'm alone... Because I'm starting to get drunk... 555
Sipping cocktails alone isn't enough, I need to pair it with a steak. Enjoying a meal alone can be blissful... because I'm starting to get tipsy... haha
After dinner and cocktails, we returned to the hotel to sleep, exhausted...5555
[Day 2] We started our day with delicious dim sum! When in Phuket, you have to try dim sum... The restaurant we chose this time was "Ratcha Rasti Dim Sum" located near the police station. We have to say, we give this restaurant a 9/10. It was so delicious... The place was packed, but the service was fast. We loved it! We definitely recommend this restaurant!
This "Royal Steamed Egg" dish is also delicious.... It's really good, I like it.
After recharging in the morning, we set off to Patong to visit "Paradise Beach". The journey was the same as to Freedom Beach, but we turned a different way (according to the GPS). It was a beach with a lot of people, mostly foreigners who didn't speak Thai, so we had to speak English. We rented a beach chair and lay down to sunbathe for an hour or two, letting our skin get burned.
There are a few activities to do, such as kayaking, canoeing, and swinging. I would like to say that it is free!! The entrance fee is also free!! And this is the starting point of the second round of bad luck on this trip. Because when we went down to play in the water... all the money in the bag was gone. I don't know where I dropped it... Oh, no! I'm out of money for the trip! But luckily, I still have my card, so I can withdraw some emergency money to use first. Otherwise... I'll be eating rice bran for the whole trip! 5555
Or, if you prefer, you can relax on the beach and soak up the sun without anyone bothering you.
After a trip to the sea, Phuket still has other things besides the sea. This is "Wat Chalong" or "Wat Chaitharam", the temple of Luang Pho Chaem. ... At first, this temple was not in our travel plan, but due to the repeated bad luck of this trip, we had to rely on sacred things. He went to the temple to make merit to make his mind peaceful, hoping that something good would happen on the trip... 5555
Note: The original text is empty, so the translation is also empty.
The view from the Phra Maha Chedi Phra Chom Thai, which I must say, was almost devoid of Thai people on the day we visited. Perhaps it was because it was a weekday.
I don't know what kind of flower it is. We sat down under this tree, and then a fragrant smell wafted over, so I picked it up and took a picture.
After relaxing at the temple for a while, we set off for "Promthep Cape" to watch the sunset. Our mission at Promthep Cape was to walk to the tip of the cape and take photos of the sunset, which was another highlight of the trip.
It took us about 15 minutes to walk down, which was quite a workout... When we finally arrived, I realized... I had forgotten my water in the car!! I was so tired, I could really feel the dehydration. 555 We just sat and relaxed for a while, taking photos. This photo was taken by a foreign tourist who came specifically to photograph the waves crashing against the headland...
This is also a Thai person who is waiting to watch the sunset.
This picture might be a bit lonely, but it would be better if we were there...
As the sun began to set at six o'clock in the evening, we were disappointed to find that the sky was filled with clouds, obscuring the view of the sun dipping below the horizon. Deciding to head back up the hill before the crowds arrived, we soon realized that the climb back was significantly more strenuous than the descent. Remember to bring plenty of water next time!
After soaking in the romantic atmosphere, it was time for dinner. This time, we chose the restaurant "Chom Chan," which is owned by the same people as Wan Chan, a relative of Raya, a famous Phuket local restaurant. This time, we ordered the braised pork and young coconut shoot curry, which tasted the same as what we had at Raya 2-3 years ago. It was delicious, but the food was a bit spicier than at the Too Khao restaurant, as I don't eat spicy food, so I can taste these flavors quickly. 5555
After a savory meal, it wouldn't feel right not to have something sweet. ... So we went for ice cream at "Torry's Ice Cream", located in the Old Town area, Rommanee Alley. It's a cozy ice cream shop with a cute decor, and most importantly, a huge variety of ice cream flavors. This is the Butterfly Pea Coconut Ice Cream, served with black sticky rice and topped with coconut milk. If you're a fan of Thai desserts, this is definitely a must-try....
After a hearty meal, we strolled along Thalang Road, admiring the beauty of Phuket's Old Town at night.
Krungthai Bank Phuket Branch is designed in a Sino-Portuguese style to blend in with the old town. The lights are beautiful at night, but the photos are blurry! 5555
Soi Ramnit, a small alleyway that transforms into a dazzling spectacle at night.
Afterwards, we ascended to the peak of Khao Rang to admire the breathtaking panorama of Phuket City. The atmosphere was incredibly pleasant, with a refreshing breeze that invited us to unwind and let go. As we listened to our favorite playlist, we felt a sense of tranquility wash over us. Until tomorrow, may you have a restful night's sleep.
**[Day 3]** Our last day in Phuket... Today was a day of "birds" - we were unlucky all day long! 5555 We started with breakfast at a dim sum restaurant (again, 5555). We originally planned to go to Jun Heung, which the locals told us was delicious, but it was closed when we went! 5555 So we switched to **"Heng Heng But Teeym"**. This restaurant was nice - it was beautiful and not too crowded, and there were a lot of menu options. I would give this restaurant an 8/10, but the dim sum wasn't that flavorful...
Let's take a step back. After a savory meal, it's time for something sweet. Initially, I planned to grab some "o-aew" (a Thai iced dessert), but the shop wasn't open yet! (Typical me, haha!) So, I decided to have a coffee at a nearby cafe called " หนังสือ" (meaning "book" in Thai). This charming little cafe is located on a street in the old town and is perfect for snapping some hipster-style photos. (Hippo! Oops, I meant hipster! Ba-dum-tss! Haha!)
To reach the cafe, it is recommended to walk around Phuket Town on Thalang Road, as the exact location of the cafe is unknown due to the abundance of cafes on this street.
After that, we ended our day with "O-aew," a local Phuket dessert. Initially, we planned to visit the original stall on Soi Soon Uthit, but it was closed… (We were unlucky until the last shop! 5555) So, we ended up at "Yaek Ta Raeng Nam," located at the intersection of Thepkasattri Road and Thalang Road, right on the corner. The taste was like shaved ice! However, I had tried the original shop during my previous visit to Phuket, and it was definitely more delicious. Oh well… But if you're looking for a Phuket vibe, this place will do the trick! 555
This concludes our review for this trip. See you on the next one!
In the end, the bad luck wasn't over yet! I lost my wallet at the airport. It was a peak! Fortunately, a Thai person found my wallet and reported it to the information desk. I would like to thank you very much. I almost couldn't go home.呜呜呜呜呜
