"2 years, 42 trips, and 5 more countries"
Yes, that's the total number in 2 and a half years since I started traveling seriously. It's something we, as salarymen, can do.
Is it a lot?
From what I've seen in the travel industry, among the travelers I know,
This is still at a medium level, tending towards a lot. 55+
There are still... still... There are still gods. There are still people who travel more than this. 55+ This is true. I can confirm it. My friends and younger siblings are like this.
The Journey Begins: A Solo Travel Adventure
The journey began with a trip, a solo adventure that sparked a transformation. It was a trip originally planned with a partner, but fate intervened, leading me to embark on the adventure alone. This pivotal moment revealed a newfound realization: I could travel solo, explore new horizons without waiting for others. The thrill of meeting strangers along the way, the joy of independent exploration, and the sheer exhilaration of the journey itself ignited a passion for travel.
From that point forward, I shed the constraints of waiting for colleagues, friends, or perfect timing. I embraced the freedom to travel whenever and wherever I desired. Solo trips, adventures with friends, and new experiences filled my days. In just two and a half years, I've embarked on 42 trips, exploring 5 different countries.
This journey is a testament to the fact that even ordinary salaried individuals like myself can travel extensively and frequently. With careful planning, budgeting, and resourcefulness, the world is within reach. In these two and a half years, I've even managed to visit 5 different countries, a testament to the possibilities within reach.
This series will delve into the methods and thought processes I employ when planning each trip, year after year. We'll explore the starting point, the planning process, the execution, and the various modes of transportation. This guide aims to empower those hesitant to embark on solo adventures, providing insights and inspiration to overcome their fears and embrace the world.
Together, we'll discover that with passion and dedication, even salaried individuals like ourselves can fulfill our travel dreams. Join me as we explore the planning process, the destinations visited, and the lessons learned along the way. Let's embark on this journey together, and discover the world that awaits.
A Note on Affordability:
As salaried individuals, our primary limitations are often time and money. While some may have the funds but lack the time, others may have the time but not the resources. It's important to remember that everyone's circumstances are different.
Personally, I work as an IT support staff in a factory, earning a modest salary comparable to my age. I have financial commitments, including sending money to my mother each month and renting an apartment. However, I've made conscious lifestyle changes to prioritize travel.
I avoid unnecessary shopping, opt for affordable meals instead of luxury dining, and limit nightlife activities. These adjustments have freed up resources for frequent travel, allowing me to embark on trips costing around 2,000-3,000 baht within Thailand and international trips every few months.
The key lies in changing our perspective and spending habits. By planning effectively and prioritizing our passions, we can find ways to make travel a reality.
The Secret Weapon: Gradual Payment
For those aspiring to travel frequently, I recommend adopting the "gradual payment" approach. Create a travel calendar for the upcoming six months, considering your available weekends and calculating how many trips you can realistically manage.
For instance, with two consecutive weekends off each month, I can plan two 2-day, 1-night trips without needing to take additional leave. This translates to 12 such trips within a six-month period.
Once you have your travel schedule, start researching destinations and calculating expenses. Then, begin booking and paying for your trip in stages. For example, if you have a trip to Chiang Mai planned three months in advance, book your flight this month and your accommodation next month.
By spreading out the payments across multiple paychecks, you avoid the burden of a large upfront cost, allowing you to travel more frequently without significant financial strain. This approach has proven effective for me, enabling me to book flights up to six months in advance.
Embark on Your Journey:
This series will guide you through the planning process, from choosing destinations to budgeting and booking. We'll explore various modes of transportation, accommodation options, and tips for maximizing your travel experience.
Join me as we delve into the world of solo travel, overcome challenges, and discover the transformative power of exploration. Let's embark on this journey together and create memories that will last a lifetime.
The sentence is already in English and does not require translation.
The Similan Islands and Koh Tachai: A Life-Changing Trip
This trip marked the beginning of a transformative journey for me. Gone were the days of waiting for my girlfriend to plan our outings, of prioritizing comfort and convenience, and of relying on others to organize my adventures. This trip completely shifted my perspective.
For the first time, I found myself researching destinations, planning itineraries, and figuring out transportation. Would I survive? (laughs)
In the end, I didn't complete the entire trip as planned, thanks to getting lost (laughs). Even after meticulously studying Google Street View, I still managed to go astray (laughs).
The most I managed to see were the viewpoint and Laem Phromthep. Oh well, at least it was something. Another challenge I encountered on this maiden voyage was the issue of transportation time.
We had checked the distance from Phuket to Khao Lak on the map: 112 kilometers. We figured it would take about 1 to 2 hours. But… I forgot one crucial detail: the vehicle we were taking from Phuket to Khao Lak was a "หวานเย็น" bus.
That means our 2-hour journey turned into almost 4 hours (laughs). The bus stopped at every single flag, picked up every passenger, and cruised along at a leisurely pace. Sigh…
But the slowness wasn't the worst part. We actually ended up missing our resort! Thankfully, we realized in time and ran to inform the bus staff. They sheepishly admitted their mistake. Oh well… (laughs)
This is the kind of experience you can't buy. You have to go through it yourself to truly appreciate it. It's the magic of travel.
We never know what each journey will bring. Sometimes, our plans don't go exactly as expected. We need to learn to be flexible, solve problems on the spot, and accept whatever comes our way.
And that's how my first solo trip transformed me, changed my mindset, and ignited a passion for travel that continues to burn brightly today.
2. Kanchanaburi
I haven't planned any trips yet. I just know that after returning from the Similan Islands and Koh Tachai trip,
I feel like I love traveling and want to travel again. But I don't know what to do. I don't have any friends. I don't know who to invite.
This trip started with a sudden urge to travel. I remember thinking about it just a few days before I left.
I started by wanting to go to a nearby province that I had never been to and that had a train passing through.
So I ended up in Kanchanaburi Province. Because there is a tourist train that goes there and back in the morning and evening.
At first, I was just going to go there because I didn't have a lot of money. So I bought a ticket just one day before I left at Hua Lamphong.
The price was around 100-200 baht.
The tourist train will take you to Nakhon Pathom for 30-40 minutes, then to the River Kwai Bridge.
Continue on the Death Railway and end at the Waterfall Station.
But...
I didn't make it again. 55+ Because my friend who lives in Kanchanaburi told me to get off at the bridge over the River Kwai.
And he would pick me up to go drink beer together. In the end, I only went to the bridge over the River Kwai and then went to drink beer with my friend and came back the next day. 55+
# 3 Koh Kham, Sattahip

Koh Kham, Sattahip: A Journey with Strangers United by Travel
This was my first trip where I embarked on an adventure with complete strangers, united by our shared love for travel. It was the early days of travel pages, and I stumbled upon "Chuanเที่ยวหารเฉลี่ย" (Let's Travel and Share Costs). This sparked the idea of inviting strangers to join me on a trip.
My goal was to find a beautiful, secluded beach near Bangkok. After some research, I discovered Koh Kham in Sattahip. At the time, it wasn't the popular tourist destination it is today. The now-famous "shoe queueing" system for buying tickets hadn't even begun.
I posted an invitation on the page and ended up with eight new companions, all eager to explore. This marked the beginning of my journey of traveling with strangers who shared my passion for adventure.
The benefits of traveling with strangers are numerous:
- Spontaneity: They're ready to go, no waiting or convincing needed.
- Cost-effectiveness: Sharing transportation costs like van rentals makes trips affordable. This trip cost less than 600 baht per person.
- Instant connection: You'll find yourselves bonding quickly, spending the entire time discussing travel plans and experiences.
- Expanding your social circle: You'll meet diverse individuals, and if you're open to new experiences, the trip is guaranteed to be fun.
- Discovering genuine friendships: You'll realize that amazing friendships can blossom even with people you've never met before.
These are just some of the advantages of traveling with strangers who share your passion for exploration. While I've encountered a few individuals whose lifestyles didn't quite align with mine, time has helped me find compatible travel companions.
So, don't worry about finding travel buddies. In this digital age, a few clicks can connect you with people ready to join your adventures. Just give it a try!
This trip also marked my first attempt at writing a review on Pantip. If you're interested, you can read it here:

4 Baan Kokkod, Kanchanaburi
March 5-6, 2015
4. Baan Kokkod, Kanchanaburi
This is another place that impressed me a lot because the atmosphere is amazing.
Especially in the morning, this place is a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise.
This trip was a journey I took with a stranger, just the two of us, and she was a woman! 55+
But don't get any ideas, she was just someone I shared the journey with, nothing more, I assure you.
Actually, this trip came about unexpectedly. I met this girl on a travel page.
She messaged me and invited me to go on a trip with her. I had to take an extra day off work to go on this trip, but I really wanted to visit Baan Kokkod.
So I decided to give it a try with her, and I'm so glad I did because the atmosphere here is incredible.

5. Sangkhla Buri
This trip flowed from the Ban Kokkod trip, haha.
We wanted to continue traveling because my friend wanted to go.
Another reason I wanted to come here was because of the review by High on Dream, the queen of travel, haha. I loved it.
Sangkhla Buri is another destination that every traveler should not miss.
I have written a review, haha. Please follow me.

# 6 Koh Lan
March 15, 2015
6. Koh Lan, Chonburi
This trip, I missed out on booking Koh Saemsar, Sattahip. 55+
After I went on a trip to Koh Kham, both Koh Kham and Koh Saemsar became famous. 55+
It has nothing to do with me, but I don't know why they suddenly became famous. People flocked there from 3 or 4 am. It was a phenomenon at that time. 55+
The "queue booking" for shoes also became famous during this period. 55+
Koh Saemsar is located next to Koh Kham. You take the boat from the same pier, but the boats go to different islands.
This trip was a reunion with friends from the Koh Kham trip, but there were 3-4 new members.
The fun and laughter were unforgettable, but there is no review because Koh Lan is easy to get to on your own.
#7 Suan Son Pradipat
March 31, 2015
7. One Day Trip to Suan Son Pradipat with the State Railway of Thailand
This trip came about because I had only one day off, but I still wanted to get away. So I invited a few friends from my Koh Lan trip to join me.
Since we only had one day, we started looking into where we could go on a day trip with the State Railway of Thailand. That's when we came across Suan Son Pradipat, a place I had never been to before. Some of my friends had never even been on a train, so we decided to go for it.
Even though it was just a morning and evening trip, the experience of riding the train, relaxing, and enjoying a beer by the sea was enough to make us happy.
8. Baan Rim Kwae, a Floating Raft House in Kanchanaburi
April 4-5, 2015
8. Baan Riw Kwai, Floating Raft in Kanchanaburi
This was another quick trip, decided on a whim. We planned it today and left tomorrow!
I went with 6 new friends, all girls, and I was the only guy.
It wasn't intentional to be the only guy, but due to the short notice, only these 6 people were available.
I had a long weekend but didn't have enough money saved for a trip, so I had to find an alternative. Since I was on a tight budget, I looked for places accessible by free train.
There are many free train routes, including north, northeast, east, and south.
I decided to go to Kanchanaburi again because it's close and has many attractions. I looked for places accessible by free train and stumbled upon this one.
The price for the floating raft was only 350 baht per night!
Wow… yes, only 350 baht per person per night (the price has now increased to 500 baht).
Plus, the travel was free, making the total cost of this trip less than 600 baht!
If you're interested in a unique experience with a great atmosphere and an affordable price, follow my review!
9. Sabai Dee, Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, Laos
May 1-5, 2015
9. Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang, Laos
This was my first trip abroad, and it was to Laos! Even though the language wasn't a barrier for me, we could understand each other just fine. I planned this trip for 2-3 months because I really wanted to visit Vang Vieng.
It's a city that you can't miss if you're going to Laos. It just so happened that I went during the Labor Day long weekend, so I decided to extend my trip to Luang Prabang as well. I took an extra 2 days off work, but it was worth it because I got to visit two amazing places.
For details about the trip, expenses, and other information, you can check out my review. This trip was so much fun, especially with the 9 crazy people I went with!

# 10 Kaeng Krachan, Kaeng Krachan National Park
June 27-28, 2015
10. Kaeng Krachan, Kaeng Phaneun Thung
This trip was a continuation of the trip to Laos. We wanted to see each other again.
So I organized a short trip near Bangkok, Kaeng Krachan, Phetchaburi.
We drove our own car, relaxed and had fun.
We went rafting and then rented a car to go see the sea of fog on the top of Kaeng Phaneun Thung.
This trip was all about relaxing and having fun, so I didn't write a review.
# 11 Khao Lom Muak, Prachuap Khiri Khan
July 11-12, 2015
11. Khao Lom Muak, Prachuap Khiri Khan
This trip was another one where I met strangers and we decided to travel together on the day of departure. Khao Lom Muak was one of the places I really wanted to visit at that time, and it was the first mountain I ever climbed.
As usual, I found some travel buddies on a Facebook page and we planned the trip together. This trip was very economical because we took the free train again. Plus, the accommodation was very cheap, only 500 baht per night for two people, making the total cost of the trip very low.
It was less than 1,000 baht in total, and on the way back we took a van for only 200 baht each.
It was a shame that I didn't write a review of this trip, but it was a lot of fun. Most importantly, the friends I made on this trip have become close friends to this day.
As I always say, traveling always brings good things into our lives. Let's go on an adventure!
12. Chiang Rai
July 25-26, 2015
12. Chiang Rai
This Chiang Rai trip was another one where I booked my flight tickets 3-4 months in advance.
Because I got a round-trip promotion price of only around 1,000 baht. So why not, right? 55+
For this trip, we flew and then rented a van in Chiang Rai.
By now, I have a lot of friends. I've been on many trips already. 55+
So I invited them through our Line group and got 10 members.
We visited a lot of places. We were so busy that we barely rested during the 2 days. 55+
The main places were Doi Tung Royal Villa, Doi Mae Salong, Wat Rong Khun, Choui Fong Tea Plantation, Mae Sai, and Chiang Rai Walking Street.
It was so much fun and worth it. And that's why I didn't write a review again. 55+
# 13 Singapore
August 8-12, 2015
13. Singapore
This was a very special trip for me. Not only was it my first time using English seriously in a foreign country, but I also happened to be there during Singapore's National Day celebrations. I was able to witness the grand and spectacular festivities, making the trip truly worthwhile. I got to sightsee, watch fireworks, and enjoy a magnificent light and sound show.
This trip was a real eye-opener for me. It made me realize what "foreign country" truly means. It was an amazing and exciting experience, especially since it was my first time traveling abroad and planning everything myself.
The trip started when I found a round-trip promotion from Bangkok to Singapore for around 2,600-2,800 baht. I invited my coworker and a friend to join me, and we booked our tickets about 2-3 months in advance. We then researched and planned our accommodation, sightseeing, and transportation using the internet. It was a lot of fun!
This is one of my most memorable trips, and I'm planning to go back for a second round this year. It's a shame I didn't write a review, but I did make a video about it. I've become quite advanced, making videos now! You can check out the atmosphere here:
# 14 The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Bangkok
August 16, 2015
14. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Bangkok
Actually, I wasn't going to count this trip because I didn't go far, haha. I just explored Bangkok.
I visited the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the surrounding area for one day.
And it made me realize that Thai temples are truly the most beautiful in the world.
No wonder Chinese tourists and foreigners flock here. If you haven't been, you should check it out.
It's not far, and it's incredibly beautiful.
# 15 Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market, Samut Prakan
September 5, 2015
15. Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market, Samut Prakan
This was another trip where I focused on relaxing and taking a break after spending a lot of money on my Singapore trip. 55+
The Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market is actually quite close to my accommodation, believe it or not. 55+
I've been working in Phra Pradaeng, Samut Prakan for 5-6 years now, but I've never been there before.
So this time I decided to go for it. It's so close, why not? 55+
#16 Pha Hin Ngop, Chanthaburi
September 12-13, 2015
16. Khao Kuap, a magical sea of mist and a paradise in Chanthaburi
This was a trip I loved so much that I went back for a second round! It was also my first real experience with hiking and mountain climbing.
We hiked up a real mountain, with nothing but hills and leeches. But it was all worth it because the view from the top was absolutely breathtaking.
The trip started with the same gang that climbed Khao Lom Muak in Prachuap Khiri Khan (that's how we became close friends). We wanted to get together again, and one of our friends lived in Chanthaburi, so we decided to explore the province.
One of our friends found this place online, and we decided to give it a try. Before we went, I had no idea it would be so challenging. All I knew was that we would be hiking, climbing, sleeping under a rock, cooking our own food, and there would be no electricity or bathrooms.
But when we actually got there, it was even more difficult than we expected. Maybe it was because we had to carry our own backpacks and supplies. It was definitely more tiring than our previous hike at Khao Lom Muak.
But personally, I loved this place. I never thought that a province so close to Bangkok and the sea like Chanthaburi would have such a beautiful sea of mist.
And most importantly, it was a chance to experience real life in the forest and mountains. We slept under a rock, cooked our own food, showered with a hose connected to a natural water source, and had to walk in the rain. We even slept through a whole night of rain.
But we were lucky because if it hadn't rained that night, I wouldn't have seen the beautiful sea of mist the next morning.
It was a great trip, and it was also very affordable. We spent less than 1,000 baht. If you're looking for a similar experience, I highly recommend it.
You can read more about it here: https://pantip.com/topic/34188748
There's also a video of our trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRdXxVy3_1Q
Pattaya, Chonburi
October 3-4, 2015
17. Pattaya, Chonburi
This was another trip where I wanted to relax and not do much. Just roll around, sleep, and get drunk in Pattaya. 55+
This trip was pretty simple. We drove ourselves in a car borrowed from a friend and rented cheap accommodation for 600 baht per night.
Then we went sightseeing around Pattaya.
# 18 Doi Inthanon, Chiang Mai
October 23-25, 2015
18. Doi Inthanon, Chiang Mai
This trip was with my colleagues from work. They planned the trip and booked the tickets 2-3 months in advance. One of our colleagues from the department created the itinerary for the various tourist spots. On this trip, I just followed their lead.
We stayed at the Doi Inthanon Agricultural Station and explored the surrounding areas, including Mae Klang Luang and a couple of waterfalls.
In the morning, we went up to the summit of Doi Inthanon to enjoy the view and hike the Ang Ka Nature Trail. Initially, we wanted to go to Kew Mae Pan, but it wasn't open yet in late October, so we went to Ang Ka instead.
We also visited the two pagodas on Doi Inthanon.
This trip was pretty straightforward; I just followed the plan.
19. Phu Kradueng, Loei
November 14-15, 2015
19. Phu Kradueng National Park, Loei
Finally, I made it to the legendary hiking trail, Phu Kradueng.
For all nature and mountain lovers, this is a must-visit destination.
Don't miss the chance to take a picture with the iconic slogan sign: "Once in a lifetime, we are the conquerors of Phu Kradueng."
This trip was another unplanned adventure. My colleague invited me to join her on a hike to Phu Kradueng the following week.
Yes, she invited me just one week in advance. I was surprised, but I couldn't say no.
Her reason was irresistible: her boyfriend had just broken up with her, and she wanted to mend her broken heart in Phu Kradueng (who in their right mind would go to Phu Kradueng after a breakup?).
But when I saw her pictures, I couldn't resist. I had to go.
I had seen her post a picture with this girl on Facebook before.
I even teased her about it, but she had a boyfriend then, so I didn't pursue it further.
Now, she was single again, and I couldn't miss this opportunity.
So, there we were, one guy and two girls. Hence the name of this trip: In My Memory #WhenOneLikesToTravel #OneWantsToCome #OneIsHeartbroken @PhuKradueng 14 - 16 November 2015.
I actually started writing a review, but she stopped me. I was secretly crushing on her and wrote about it in the review.
Anyway, it was another amazing trip, with a lot of challenging hikes.
I don't think Phu Kradueng is a difficult hike because I carried my backpack and managed it comfortably. There are plenty of resting spots along the way.
There are shelters, food, restrooms, and accommodation available. All you need is money, and you're good to go.
The challenging part was that we wanted to see everything in three days and two nights.
As soon as we arrived, we went to watch the sunset, which was only 2 kilometers away, making it a 4-kilometer round trip.
The next morning, we woke up early to watch the sunrise, another 2-kilometer hike, making it a 4-kilometer round trip.
Later that day, we explored Phu Kradueng, visiting waterfalls and hiking to Pha Lom Sak.
In total, according to the app on my phone, we walked over 60 kilometers.
We came back with sore legs and lost toenails. We were exhausted.
No matter what your interests are, don't miss Phu Kradueng.
You'll fall in love with this place.
Oh, and please don't build a cable car or install electricity.
I think it's better to keep it as a legend, a story to be passed down to future generations.
Let's say, "Once in a lifetime, we are the conquerors of Phu Kradueng."
# 20 Doi Inthanon National Park, Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail, Mon Cham, Mon Thawan, Chiang Mai
14 - 15 December 2015
Doi Inthanon, Kiw Mae Pan, Mon Cham, Mon Thawan, Chiang Mai
20. Doi Inthanon, Kiw Mae Pan, Mon Cham, Mon Thawan, Chiang Mai
Yes, you read that right. I went back to Doi Inthanon again in just 2 months! 55+
The first time I went was with my work colleagues at the end of October. This time I went in December.
Because there was a girl I was interested in who wanted to go to Kiw Mae Pan. 55+
So I took her there, and then we also went to Mon Cham and Mon Thawan.
And then we also went sightseeing in Chiang Mai city, Wat Phra That Doi Kham, and the walking street.
There's nothing special about this trip, just taking a girl out. 55+ Oh, and it was a trip where I rented a car to drive myself in Chiang Mai for the convenience of getting around to different places.
21. Nan, Doi Samer Dao, Phu Langka
The first trip of 2016 was a big one, 3 days and 2 nights, to the charming province of Nan, the city of whispers of love.
This trip started with a conversation with my old colleagues about wanting to visit Nan and Phu Langka Resort. We ended up forming a group with most members from my old workplace and a few new additions.
As usual, I planned everything for the trip. We traveled by van from Bangkok to Nan province.
Our first stop at dawn was the viewpoint of Nan city, Wat Phra That Khao Noi, where we watched the sunrise.
From there, we went to the salt wells in Pua and then checked into our accommodation at Phu Langka Resort.
I must say, Phu Langka Resort is one of the destinations I wouldn't want you to miss. The morning atmosphere, especially during sunrise, is breathtaking.
It's also a perfect spot to enjoy the sea of mist without having to climb any mountains. Just wake up, open your eyes, and step outside your room to witness the magnificent sea of mist, just like in the pictures.
After waking up, we rented a car and drove up to the top of Phu Langka, which was stunning.
Then we headed back to Nan city and continued to Doi Samer Dao.
This trip was another fun and memorable one, especially because of one person I met during the trip. He became one of the inspirations for me to travel abroad.
I had never met anyone who had been to all the places I mentioned wanting to visit. This person had been everywhere I truly wanted to go. It was incredible.
However, 3-4 months after this trip, he passed away in a car accident while traveling in Egypt. It made me realize that death can happen anywhere, anytime.
Therefore, if you want to do something, do it now. If you want to go somewhere, go now. Don't wait, because we never know when our time will come.
I would like to express my condolences to this wonderful person, an amazing traveler. Rest in peace, Ko.
This trip wasn't documented, but it was truly enjoyable.
22. Ang Khang, Grand Canyon, Chiang Mai City
January 31 - February 1, 2015
22. Doi Ang Khang and Grand Canyon, Chiang Mai City
The second trip of 2016 was with my girlfriend at the time. 55+
Therefore, there are few photos and no reviews. Hehe.
We visited the Grand Canyon, temples in Chiang Mai city, and Doi Ang Khang.
This was a self-drive trip in Chiang Mai, which was a lot of fun, especially since it was my first time driving up to Doi Ang Khang.
Nothing much, just a relaxing vacation with my girlfriend. 55+
# 23 Doi Luang Chiang Dao, Ban Saimok, Chiang Mai
February 20-22, 2016
23. Doi Luang Chiang Dao, Baan Sai Morakot, Chiang Mai
Finally, I have arrived at the heavenly land for hikers and mountain lovers: Doi Luang Chiang Dao.
This is another must-visit location for those who enjoy exploring the wilderness and mountains. The beauty of this place speaks for itself. It's truly one of the most stunning mountains I've ever seen.
I've been here twice now, and both times have been incredible. It's a fun trip, especially when you're with close friends and fellow travelers. We had a blast, laughing, drinking, and enjoying the journey together.
There are both challenging and easy routes to the summit. For those who want a tough climb, the Pang Wua trail is the way to go. For those who prefer a more relaxed approach, the Den Ya Krad route is recommended.
The first part of the Den Ya Krad trail is a leisurely 3 kilometers, but the next 5 kilometers involve a gradual ascent. Take your time and rest when needed, and you'll reach the top in no time.
If you visit during the late months of the year (November and December), you might be lucky enough to see the beautiful bird's nest orchid, which looks remarkably like a flock of parrots.
Nowadays, there are tour services offered by local people who will take you up the mountain. If you're interested, you can contact P'Aoy Chiang Dao. I've used their services twice, and they're very friendly and helpful.
The cost of a 2-day, 1-night tour is around 2,900 baht, which includes everything. You just need to bring your clothes. They'll provide tents, sleeping bags, food, water, and porters.
On my first trip, they even treated us to a delicious barbecue dinner on the mountaintop. It was amazing!
The toilets provided by this tour service are unique. They are high tents with chairs that have holes drilled in them. You simply place a black bag in the hole, do your business, tie the bag shut, and throw it in the designated pit. It's very convenient.
Whether you go on your own or with a tour group, you'll have to use a pit toilet, which can be quite smelly.
Overall, Doi Luang Chiang Dao is a must-visit destination. It's worth every penny.
We spent two days and one night on the mountain, which was enough time to enjoy the experience. (However, I went back a second time to capture the sunrise from the summit.)
After descending, we relaxed at Baan Sai Morakot, enjoying the stunning views of Doi Luang Chiang Dao.
This place is beautiful in every season. I'm considering going back during the rainy season to experience the mist and the lush greenery.

24. Cameron Highland, Penang, Langkawi, Malaysia
April 10-14, 2016
Cameron Highlands, Penang, Langkawi, Malaysia
This was my third trip abroad, and the first one in 2016. It was an exciting road trip, my first time driving a rental car in a foreign country. I planned and booked everything myself, making it a truly independent adventure.
The trip started with a friend I met on my first trip to Koh Kham. He suggested a trip during Songkran, which I usually avoid due to the crowds. I initially resisted, but we eventually decided on a trip to Malaysia.
While Malaysia wasn't on my travel list, I stumbled upon Cameron Highlands and was captivated by its stunning tea plantations. I knew I had to visit.
Since it was a long Songkran holiday, we decided to explore Langkawi, Penang, and Cameron Highlands.
For a detailed account of the trip, check out my award-winning Pantip review: "Escape Songkran and Cool Down at the Best Tea Plantation in ASEAN #Cameron Highlands @Malaysia April 10-14, 2016"

# 25 Cheow Lan Dam, Surat Thani
May 20-21, 2016
25. Cheow Lan Lake, Surat Thani
Finally, we made it to another must-visit destination for travelers: Cheow Lan Lake.
I must admit, the place truly lives up to its reputation. The emerald green water, the unique limestone mountains, and the incredible atmosphere of the accommodation are all breathtaking.
Most importantly, there's no phone signal, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in nature. After the rain, you can witness clouds drifting across the mountain peaks, creating a truly magical experience.
This trip started with my friend and I, who have been close since our days at Khao Lom Muak, both longing to visit this place. We decided to organize a trip, with my friend handling accommodation and boat arrangements, while I took care of the van and helped find additional members.
We ended up with a group of 10, including old friends and new members. It was an amazing trip, and I especially loved the relaxed atmosphere of the accommodation.
If you have the chance, don't miss this trip. While I haven't written a full review, I've included a video to give you a glimpse of the experience.
# 26 Koh Samet in Love 7
June 4-5, 2016
26. Samet in Love 7
Taking a break from traveling, let's talk about parties and concerts! 55+ I'm into everything, haha.
This trip, some friends from the travel group invited me. I thought, "Hey, that sounds interesting."
There would be lots of beautiful girls, I mean, the concert atmosphere would be fun, haha.
Actually, a friend who had been to this event before told me that it was amazing. Girls in bikinis everywhere.
Oh… let's go to this event! 55+
But somehow, all the members who went on this trip were girls, 55+. I was the only guy again.
But they were all young girls, and I knew them all from previous trips. So we decided to change things up and get drunk together, haha.
And I wasn't disappointed! There were girls everywhere, haha. The event was really fun, 55+.
It was another moment I enjoyed. Listening to music, getting drunk, and swimming all at the same time.
But that day, the seawater was a bit saltier than usual, haha.
For some reason, everyone kept walking into the sea, even going far away alone. Of course, I know what they were doing, haha.
At first, I didn't know. Out of curiosity, I went to see what they were doing there, haha…
Just a little bit, I was too lazy to walk to the bathroom, haha.
I didn't write a review for this trip, but I didn't miss out on the video of the Samet in Love 7 event, haha.
And damn, it's so frustrating. I made dozens of videos.
In the end, the video with the most views was this one, over 2,000 views. I can't believe it, haha.
Well, you want to know why it has so many views (the most for me)? Go watch it!
P.S. It's a shame that there might not be another Samet in Love event after this.
The National Park Department doesn't allow the use of the venue anymore. So let's wait and see if there will be another great and fun event like this.
Southern Laos Solo Adventure: Pakse
June 11-13, 2016
Solo Adventure in Southern Laos: Pakse and the 5 Tad Waterfalls
This was my first solo trip abroad, and I chose Laos because of the ease of communication (thanks to the shared language with Thailand). It was an exhilarating experience exploring Pakse and the 5 Tad Waterfalls on my own.
The trip was sparked by a friend in Pakse who needed some items from Bangkok. I volunteered to deliver them, but let's be honest, I was also eager for an adventure!
Traveling solo, I took the train to Ubon Ratchathani, then a bus to Chong Mek, and finally crossed the border into Pakse. After delivering the package, I rented a motorbike and set off to explore the city and the stunning 5 Tad Waterfalls.
This exciting adventure is documented in my review, "Solo Adventure in Pakse: June 11-13, 2016. You'll Fall in Love with Pakse, the City of Waterfalls, Mountains, Rivers, and Unforgettable Experiences."

# 28 Laos, Vang Vieng Round 2
July 16-19, 2016
Vang Vieng, Laos: A Second Visit
Yes, I returned to Vang Vieng, Laos, for a second time.
Why go back? Simply put, I loved it!
Vang Vieng is an incredibly chill town with a ton of activities to offer. You could easily spend two days there and still not see everything.
This time, I went back with a group of friends who had never been there before, and I also dragged along an old college buddy.
I have to say, no matter how many times I visit, I never get bored. Maybe it's because the first time I went, I was with people I didn't know, so I didn't get to do everything I wanted to.
This time, I finally got to try ziplining and the Tad Kaeng Yui waterfall. I also finally made it to Sakura Bar, which I missed the first time around.
Let's just say, this trip was well worth it. We had a blast and got pretty drunk, haha!
However, we did go during the rainy season, so the wooden bridge was broken, and the Blue Lagoon had turned into the Brown Lagoon.
But hey, at least the surrounding scenery was lush and green, and we got a good dose of humidity.
I didn't write a review this time, but I did make a three-episode video series.
Check it out! You're sure to fall in love with Vang Vieng. Come see the amazing atmosphere for yourself.

Ep. 3
Solo Adventure: Pai, Mae Kampong, Chiang Mai
August 12-14, 2016
Solo Adventure: Pai and Mae Kampong, Chiang Mai
This was the ultimate adventure, ever since I started traveling. It was a solo trip, with no plans whatsoever. I decided to go just one night before and set off the next day. And if that wasn't adventurous enough, I took a free train to Chiang Mai and rented a motorbike to ride to Pai, all by myself. Then, I crazily rode from Pai to Mae Kampong. This was the ultimate trip!
The story of this trip began during the Mother's Day long weekend in August, a three-day holiday. I hadn't planned to go anywhere, as I was still recovering from my trip to Vang Vieng, Laos. But just one day before the long weekend, I started feeling restless and didn't want to waste the holiday. I thought to myself, "There's no way I'm staying home during a three-day weekend!"
With a limited budget of only 2,000 baht, I decided to take the free train again. But where should I go? I had already been to Kanchanaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan several times. After some thought, I decided on Chiang Mai, a three-day journey. I figured I could take the free train and find a place to camp, which would be the most economical option.
There was one place I had been wanting to visit for a long time: Huai Nam Dang. So, I decided to go there and find a place to rent a tent, which I assumed would cost around 200 baht per night. Then, I would take a bus back, and my expenses wouldn't exceed 2,000 baht.
However, things didn't go as planned. This was a "The Plan Is No Plan" kind of trip. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We planned to camp at Huai Nam Dang, but the weather was bad, and there were no tents available for rent during the rainy season.
So, we hopped on a motorbike and headed to Pai to find accommodation. We encountered flash floods in Pai, and then rode back to visit Mae Kampong village. It was quite an adventure!
But I have to say, it was incredibly fun and exciting. I had never taken such a long journey on a free train, which took almost 14-15 hours. And then, I rode a motorbike solo to Pai, navigating the infamous 1,000+ curves.
If you're interested in following my crazy and fun adventures on this trip, check out my review:

#30 Phu Soi Dao
September 3-4, 2016
30. Phu Soi Dao
I finally made it here! To be honest, I was scared for a while, afraid that I wouldn't be able to make it up.
But I proved myself wrong! With determination, there's nothing we can't do! 55+
This trip had a lot of members, 55+! I can't believe that we ended up with 20 people after inviting a few friends! 55+
Are we going hiking or camping? 55+
This trip came about because I talked to some friends who wanted to go to Phu Soi Dao.
To see the blooming fields of Na-Khon flowers, which are said to be incredibly beautiful.
So I organized a trip and found members, ending up with 24 people (including 4 who drove themselves).
It was almost too crowded! 55+ But it was a lot of fun, and not as tiring as I thought. Phew... 55+
If you have the chance, I recommend trying it. The hike isn't too difficult, and the atmosphere at the top is like being in heaven! 55+
When I went up, there was mist floating everywhere, interspersed with fields of Na-Khon flowers. It was breathtaking!
And don't worry about not being able to make it up, because I hired porters! 55+ I'm not strong enough to carry my own backpack.
But even with that, I was still panting like a dog! 55+ But in the end, we all made it.
As usual, I didn't write a review for this trip because many people have already done so. Instead, I have a video of the atmosphere for you to enjoy.
Khao Koob Cliffs, Chanthaburi: Round 2
September 17-18, 2016
31. Khao Hin Khop, Chanthaburi (Round 2)
Yes, I'm back again for round 2! Haha, you said it was tough, so why did you go again?
Actually, this trip was supposed to be a reunion with the gang that went on the first round.
But as the date approached, everyone bailed on me, leaving me with only three new members.
One of them was a close friend from high school who really wanted to go (55+). I don't know why.
The others were a former colleague of my close friend and another friend I met while hiking at Khao Lom Muak.
So, the trip was down to four people. At first, I thought about canceling, but my friend was really eager to go.
He had already bought a hammock, clothes, and hiking gear. I couldn't just tell him to cancel, so I decided to go along (55+).
For this trip, I met my friends in Rayong because they both work there.
My other friend and I took a van to meet them in Rayong and stayed at their place for one night. The next morning, we drove to the starting point in their car.
To be honest, this trip was really tiring. We were feeling adventurous, so we brought almost 10 cans of beer (55+).
On top of that, we were carrying all our own gear, which weighed over 10 kg in total.
It's a good thing the female friend who's into hiking helped us share the load. Otherwise, we wouldn't have made it to the top (55+).
But it was all worth it. This time, we were treated to a spectacular sea of mist.
In all my travels, I've never seen a sea of mist as magnificent and close as this one. It was simply breathtaking.
It was as if we were sitting on top of a cloud.
Anyway, let's watch the video of our trip. There are two episodes.

33 Pha Daeng Luang, Unssen, Thailand, Lamphun
November 26-27, 2016
Pha Daeng Luang: A Hidden Gem in Lampang, Thailand
This article details a unique and unforgettable trip to Pha Daeng Luang, a previously unseen tourist destination in Lampang, Thailand. The author expresses their amazement at the stunning beauty of the location, describing it as one of the most breathtaking sunrise viewpoints they have ever encountered.
The journey to Pha Daeng Luang involves a 4WD ride from the Tung Kik National Park headquarters to the campsite. The following morning, another 4WD ride takes visitors to the viewpoint, followed by a short 1km walk. Currently, accommodation options are limited to camping, with the park authorities providing tents, sleeping mats, pillows, and sleeping bags for rent.
Despite the lack of electricity and phone signal, the author highlights the positive aspects of this immersion in nature. Food preparation is required, but the convenience of vehicle access allows for enjoyable experiences like outdoor barbeques. Additionally, clean restrooms with running water are available.
Reaching Pha Daeng Luang is straightforward. Visitors can travel to Mae Ping National Park, where park officials will assist with transportation. A 4WD vehicle can be hired for the trip to the campsite, followed by an overnight stay and an early morning ascent to the viewpoint.
The surrounding Mae Ping National Park offers additional attractions, including the impressive Kio Luang Waterfall and the real-life "School on the River Kwai" from the movie "The Bridge on the River Kwai," albeit in a more developed state than its cinematic portrayal.
For a detailed account of the journey, including stunning visuals and practical information, the author recommends referring to their review titled "A Heartwarming Trip: Unveiling Pha Daeng Luang, Unseen Thailand - The Most Beautiful Sunrise with 15 Crazy People - A Relaxing Trip that Hides Fatigue." # 34 Doi Luang Chiang Dao, Mae Kampong Round 2
December 3-5, 2016
Doi Luang Chiang Dao and Mae Kampong, Round 2
This is my second time visiting Doi Luang Chiang Dao and Mae Kampong. Some of you might think I'm crazy for going to the same place twice, but the more I travel, the more friends I make. Sometimes I go with one group, but another group hasn't been there yet, so I end up organizing another trip. That's why I often end up going to the same places twice.
But it's always fun, and sometimes on the second visit, I get to fix things I didn't get to do or see the first time. For example, this time I got to climb to the highest peak again in the morning. The first time I went, I went to watch the sunset in the evening, and it was so crowded that the entire sign was full of people. Plus, all the photos I took were just full of heads. So this time I went up again in the morning.
And that's how I got the beautiful view you see in the picture. Hehe.
On this trip, besides revisiting Doi Luang Chiang Dao, I also finally got to stay overnight in Mae Kampong. The last time I was there, I only had time to visit for a few hours. Let me tell you, this place is super chill and the air is amazing.
Since I've already been to these places before, I didn't do a full review or video this time.
And that concludes all my trips in 2016.
In total, I only went on 14 trips, which is pretty light because I traveled abroad a lot this year. Hehe.
I went to Laos twice, to Vang Vieng and Pakse. I went to Malaysia, and I went to Vietnam.
I'm starting to explore our neighboring countries before venturing further afield. Gotta gain some experience first. Hehe.
This year has been a blast travel-wise. I've done solo trips, group trips, and couple trips. It's been so much fun.
Now let's move on to the next 8 trips I have planned for the rest of 2017. I'll tell you where I'm going and I guarantee there will be some more amazing trips to come. Hehe.
In the first half of 2017, I've already done 8 trips.
Pha Hom Pok, Mon Thawan, Chiang Mai
January 14-16, 2017
The First Trip of 2017: Doi Pha Hom Pok, Chiang Mai
The first trip of 2017 was a blast for the entire tourism industry. This trip, "Fan Day Fan Gun: Just One Trip," was a new phenomenon in the tourism world.
As the writer of this review, I can say that it was a surreal experience. Who would have thought that after watching the movie "Fan Day" alone, I would find myself in a similar situation?
This trip was crazy. We planned it the night before and went with people we didn't know. We even asked someone to be our girlfriend for a day. It was that crazy!
Two weeks later, I found myself back at Doi Pha Hom Pok, this time with friends and colleagues. We had planned the trip together, and I was the organizer. If I didn't show up again, I would have been in big trouble!
This time, the weather was perfect, and we were able to see the stunning views of Doi Pha Hom Pok in all their glory. It was even more amazing with my "Fan Day" girlfriend. We were on cloud nine!
The second time I went with friends, the weather wasn't as good. It was a shame because the views are incredible when the sky is clear.
If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, I highly recommend checking out the "Fan Day Fan Gun: Just One Trip" trip to Doi Pha Hom Pok. You can read more about it here:
Second Trip to Doi Pha Hom Pok (Within the Same Month)
January 28-29, 2017
**36. Blanket Wrap, Round 2 (in the same month)**
Yes, I'm back again 55+ You crazy guy, going to the same place in just 2 weeks, you're crazy 55+
But I did it anyway 55+ It was so much fun
Round 2 was even crazier because I went with 30 friends and younger siblings 55+
You heard that right, 30 people, 3 vans! Are we going to make merit to Kathin or something? 55+
Actually, I was only going with 20 people, but there was another group of younger siblings who wanted to come along.
This group also had 10 friends, so I decided to let them join us so we could travel together.
Actually, the sky was overcast this time, so I'm showing you pictures from when I went with my girlfriend instead.
This time, I didn't do a review or make a video clip. I was too busy reminiscing about the past with my girlfriend 55+
**# 37 Ubon, Khong Chiam, Sam Phan Bok, Wat Phu Phrao, Pha Taem**
**February 12-13, 2017**
37. Ubon Ratchathani, Khong Chiam, Sam Phan Bok, Wat Phu Phrao, Pha Taem
This trip was a continuation of a high school reunion party held in Khong Chiam District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.
I decided to extend my stay and explore the area.
Since I was flying in and out, I rented a car for convenience.
I booked my flight in advance in December, knowing the reunion date.
The trip was a relaxing driving tour around Khong Chiam, visiting Sam Phan Bok, Pha Taem, and Namtok Lung Ru (which surprisingly had no water).
I visited Wat Phu Phrao twice. The first time was in the evening, but it was too dark to see anything, so I returned the next morning before leaving.
I didn't create a review or video for this trip.
# 38 Erawan Waterfall, Kanchanaburi
February 25-26, 2017
Erawan Waterfall, Kanchanaburi
This was another trip that was planned and executed quickly. I posted a message asking if anyone wanted to join me less than a week before the trip, and we were on our way! We decided to keep it budget-friendly, taking the free train and then a local bus to the waterfall.
I was feeling a bit stressed and needed a break, so I didn't want to plan too much. I invited one friend, and the two of us set off.
We took the free train to Kanchanaburi and then caught a local bus that took us directly to the waterfall. It was very easy to get there, and I recommend it to anyone who has some free time.
The entire trip cost less than 1,000 baht, including the 100 baht round-trip bus fare, 300 baht for tent rental (including sleeping pad and pillow), and food.
Since it was a relaxing getaway, I didn't write a full review of this trip.
Koh Larn, Chonburi
March 11-12, 2017
40. Visiting "Hia Kon Sanit" Homestay in Chanthaburi
This trip was nothing special, just a long-awaited visit with a friend who was building a homestay in his hometown of Chanthaburi. We had agreed at the beginning of the year that I would visit once the homestay was finished, and so here we were.
We traveled by car, splitting the cost of fuel and food amongst ourselves. Accommodation was free, thanks to our friend's hospitality. In total, the trip cost less than 1,000 baht, keeping with our usual budget-friendly approach.
As a bonus, I made a video of the trip to share with you all. Enjoy!

Solo Adventure in Palawan, Philippines
April 11-17, 2017
Palawan Philippines Solo Adventure
This was the best, coolest, and most amazing trip I've ever taken since I started traveling.
It was my first time traveling solo to a foreign country (where I had to use English seriously).
(Please don't count my solo trip to Laos, because we could understand each other. It felt more like a trip to Isan, haha.)
Most importantly, I chose to go to a city that not many Thai people visit. I wanted to have some new footprints of my own.
I wanted to try to explore and pioneer new tourist destinations on my own. And how do I know which city no Thai people have ever been to or very few have been to?
Well, I looked at the reviews. I tried searching for the city of Coron, and there was almost no information about this city.
There was only one person who had written a review, but they didn't go to the places I really wanted to go. Maybe some people have been to this city, but they just didn't write a review.
And this trip was all about finding information myself, planning everything myself, from the flights to the connections, finding tourist attractions, and transportation to different points. I did everything myself.
I was super excited. I wanted to know if I could do it. I used all my experience from the past two years on this trip.
And let me tell you, my English is at an elementary level. But I decided to go to the Philippines alone because I wanted to know if I could do it if I had to do everything myself in a country, in a city where there were no Thai people.
Actually, at first, during the Songkran holiday, I was planning to go trekking to ABC in Nepal. But I couldn't get the time off work because I had to be gone for 12 days. My work only allowed me to take a total of 7 days off. So I had to change my plans and find somewhere else to go.
And during the hot season like this, I had to go to the sea. And I wanted to go to the sea in a country where not many Thai people go.
So I decided to go to the Philippines.
So I did some research and found a picture of an island in Coron. Oh my god, it was so beautiful!
So I decided to go there, haha.
And I wasn't disappointed at all. It was a trip that made me know the world so much better. I learned how to solve problems, how to observe.
Besides getting to see the beautiful views that we had planned for, this trip made me realize that friendship truly has no borders.
If you want to read the details of this trip seriously, follow me on this review. I guarantee you it will be a lot of fun.
And the pictures are so beautiful. The sea in the Philippines is just as beautiful as the sea in Thailand. It's really beautiful.

This review is specifically about the city of Coron in detail. Please follow me.

# 42 River Kwai Jungle View กาญจนบุรี
May 20-21, 2017
River Kwai Jungle View, Kanchanaburi
This is the 42nd trip in my 2.5-year journey, and it's been quite a ride! This time, I decided to relax and unwind in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. I took the free train and rented a motorbike to get around. I stayed at a floating raft house for 1,000 baht per night, which included breakfast and dinner.
I invited a friend I met on Facebook to join me, and luckily, they were available. They even had a car, so we skipped the train and drove together. My expenses for this trip were 1,000 baht for accommodation and 300 baht for gas. Of course, there were also some beers involved!
Since this was a relaxing trip, I didn't film any videos or write a review like I usually do.
Reflecting on 42 Trips
With this trip, I've completed 42 journeys in 2.5 years. If you've read this far, I commend you! It's been a lot of writing, and I realize just how much I've accomplished.
This series of posts is like a collection of all my work, both written reviews and video clips. I hope you, my fellow salarymen and friends, have enjoyed it.
Finding Your Purpose and Following Your Dreams
Ultimately, I want to encourage everyone to find their purpose, discover what they love and are passionate about, and then pursue it wholeheartedly. You never know how much time you have, and you don't want to be caught off guard by illness or other unforeseen circumstances.
I found my purpose in travel, and I've changed my lifestyle to accommodate my passion for exploring the world.
The Joy of Travel
Has it been worth it? Absolutely! These past 2.5 years have been filled with immense joy. I don't need luxury travel or expensive meals. I'm happy with simple adventures, sometimes even embracing challenges and hardships.
Every time I step out the door, I feel a surge of happiness. Just being on a bus or train brings me joy.
And when I reach a destination I've set my mind to, especially after a grueling climb, the feeling of accomplishment is incredible. It's a constant reminder that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.
42 Trips and Counting
Some might think 42 trips are a lot, but for me, it's not enough. However, as an ordinary salaryman, I'm happy with what I've achieved.
Five countries might seem like a small number to some, but for a simple boy from the countryside who never dreamed of traveling abroad, it's a huge accomplishment.
You Can Do It Too
But I believe anyone can achieve their dreams if they truly set their minds to it. Don't wait, don't make excuses. Take control, plan well, and you can make it happen.
The Journey Continues
My journey doesn't end here. I will continue to travel, even if it means making sacrifices and enduring hardships. For me, the joy of travel is worth it.
This year, I expect to embark on around 10 more trips. The number isn't important; it's the journey itself that brings me happiness.
Because life is a journey.
Life is Journey.
