Let's continue. Let me preface this by saying that this was the main reason we wanted to visit this city. I planned this trip for November 2016, when, as many of you know, the Thai people were facing a difficult situation. I had already booked a flight to Europe, but I hadn't finalized my plans. So I added Lausanne to my itinerary to follow in the footsteps of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, Rama IX.

Our journey begins at Geneva Railway Station. I took an intercity train to Lausanne, purchasing a ticket from a machine at the station. After browsing the menu, I discovered a round-trip package that included transportation tickets in Lausanne for approximately 50 euros (I can't recall the exact amount). I opted for this package. However, if you have a set travel time, I recommend booking through the SBB.CH website. By selecting the Super Saver Ticket option, you can enjoy a 50% discount. Please note that this option does not include a one-day pass for Lausanne.

Upon arriving at Lausanne station, I took the Metro (subway) to Sallaz station and walked to the bus stop for line 42. (Each line here has a fixed stop, so you don't have to worry about which bus to take.) The bus arrives on time. We will travel to the primary school where His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, Rama IX, studied during his youth. When you get on bus line 42, get off at the Rozavère stop.

Upon reaching the Rozavère bus stop, walk back a little to find the school entrance sign. Since I visited on a Sunday, there weren't many people around.

Ecole Nouvelle de la Suisse Romande

Walking 50 meters, we will encounter a school bus (which is quite adorable). The weather is fantastic, and I'm taking deep breaths of fresh air.

The school grounds, with its three or four buildings, exuded a sense of tranquility and lush greenery. Standing there, I was transported to a bygone era, a black-and-white tableau of children frolicking in the playground. The feeling of nostalgia was overwhelming, even though the place was deserted except for our group of four.

This is children's artwork displayed in a glass room (cool!).

The only evidence is the sign of the Boromarajonani School, which I saw outside the school. This is proof that King Rama VIII and King Rama IX studied here. My feelings at that time were (tears welling up in my eyes). Even as I write this review, tears are welling up in my eyes again.

Upon exiting the school, we found ourselves on a one-way street with no one around to ask for directions. With Google Maps as our guide, we decided to walk back to Sallaz station. Despite the perceived distance, the pleasant weather made the walk enjoyable, and we arrived within 20 minutes.

I walked back down the mountain path to the right of the castle to find something to eat. Let me tell you, it was very difficult to find anything affordable. The easiest option was also the most expensive. It just so happened that there was a cycling competition that day, so there were only three food carts selling hot dogs, ice cream, and crepes. I bought a hot dog for about 200 Thai baht, which is about the same price as a hot dog at 7-Eleven back home.

I walked back the way I came and climbed the stairs at the Palais de Rumine to reach La Cathédrale de Lausanne.

I continued my journey to Ouchy station, which is located by the lake. You can take a long, romantic stroll along the shore and enjoy the cool, refreshing atmosphere. It's truly a wonderful experience.

The flowers are in full bloom, truly beautiful. You must come and see them.

Not satisfied? Here's another one.

Walking along the shore, you will come across the Olympic Museum (Le Musée Olympique). However, I am not interested in going inside. Museums are not my thing, haha! Continuing on, you will find the Thai Pavilion, which is our final destination in Lausanne. This pavilion was built to commemorate the friendly relations between Thailand and Switzerland, and to pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen Mother, and Their Majesties King Rama VIII and King Rama IX.

The atmosphere was indescribable, as captured in these photos. Haha!
