"If you want to try the dim sum that Hong Kong locals eat, this is the place to be."

For an authentic Hong Kong dim sum experience, look no further than this bustling eatery. Expect a lively atmosphere with shared seating and dim sum selections delivered on carts. Be prepared for a wait, as the restaurant is popular with locals and tourists alike.

Established for approximately 100 years, this restaurant guarantees an authentic taste experience. It is conveniently located in the Central district on the Hong Kong side.

The second-floor entrance, with its small door, exudes a certain atmosphere. However, there is a larger entrance on the first floor.

Open 6:00 AM - 11:00 PM (I heard that if you come after 3:00 PM, they won't serve dim sum, but I've never tried it myself).

Recommended Dishes:

  • Char Siu Bao (叉烧包): Steamed buns filled with sweet and savory barbecued pork.
  • Ma Lai Go (馬拉糕): A fluffy and spongy steamed cake with a slightly sweet flavor.
  • Various Steamed Dishes: The restaurant offers a variety of steamed dishes, including dumplings, buns, and vegetables.

Overall, the food here has a simple, home-style flavor that is typical of what locals eat. If you are looking for a luxurious dining experience with high-quality ingredients, this may not be the right place for you.

Travel directions: Take Exit E1 at Sheung Wan Station.

The restaurant is bustling with activity, primarily with Chinese patrons. Due to its numerous accolades, it attracts a significant number of tourists, making it difficult to find a peaceful atmosphere.

A table for eight people. No matter how many people come, they are forced to share with others.

Once the table is ready, you will be given a card. You can use this card to order food from the carts that pass by.

Let's continue.

After sitting for a while, an auntie emerged from the kitchen pushing a cart of dim sum. Without hesitation, we rushed forward to grab some.

The early bird catches the worm. I managed to snag some delicious har gow, but I had to concede defeat on the siu mai.

The stolen shrimp here are not the large, jumbo variety. They are rather ordinary.

However, the real highlight that we truly enjoyed is this:

Steamed bun with red pork filling

This dish is made for those who love dough. If you're not a fan of heavy dough, this might not be for you. However, I personally love dough, so this is a winner for me.

The crispy exterior and flavorful filling make this dish a must-try. Highly recommended!

And then we come to the star of the show, a dish not found on our cart. We might need to use our skills to order it from the server.

Find an available employee and tell them "Cha Sao Fan" is ready, then hand them the note.

And then it came, the red pork with rice, the pork was so juicy and flavorful, with the aroma of honey, and almost half of it was fat, which was a bit scary for those who are on a diet.

Those who are afraid of gaining weight can skip this, but we definitely won't miss it.

Look at its richness.

That's enough, the more I write, the more hungry I get. I finished the last dish with "guay tiew lod" (stuffed rice noodle rolls).

If you're visiting Hong Kong, consider stopping by this restaurant. However, be prepared for the challenge of finding a table and ordering food.

Next time, I will review my favorite dim sum restaurant, which I prefer to Tim Ho Wan. Plus, there's no need to queue for hours, saving you precious time and avoiding unnecessary hassle.
