Who would have known that a small row house in an alleyway in the heart of the city would hide a shop with a variety of plum wines?

The establishment offers a diverse selection of Umeshu, including varieties fermented with soju (Korean distilled spirit), sake (Japanese rice wine), and unique house-made recipes.

This establishment also offers a wide selection of Japanese alcoholic beverages, including single malt whiskies, highballs, and Asahi beer, to satisfy the discerning palates of Japanese liquor enthusiasts.

I had the opportunity to try the Tantan Tantan Umeshu, a plum wine fermented with shiso leaf soju and mountain spring water. The wine has a ruby color, which they claim is achieved without any artificial coloring. The taste is sweet with a hint of sourness and a strong aroma of shiso leaves.

The second glass, 秘蔵梅酒 (Hizō Umeshu), is a thick, syrupy liqueur with a burnt sugar aroma. One sip is enough to warm you up, but it's also fragrant and delicious.

The restaurant is small but cozy, with a constant flow of both Thai and Japanese customers.

There is a wide variety of plum wines available.

And the plum wine that impressed me the most

Tantakatan's plum wine is a soju-based liqueur fermented with shiso leaves and mountain spring water. The liqueur boasts a beautiful ruby color, achieved without any artificial coloring. Its flavor profile is a delightful balance of sweet and tart, with a pronounced shiso aroma.

The "Secret Stash Plum Wine" (Hisowoumeshu) is a thick, syrupy liquor with a burnt sugar aroma. One sip is enough to feel the heat spreading through your body.

Grilled monocle bream fins, crispy and fragrant, perfect as a snack or side dish.
