This one-day round trip is perfect for those with limited time and budget, but still want to explore destinations near Bangkok. With a budget of just a few hundred baht, you can enjoy a comfortable and stylish trip!

😄 This trip follows the usual style of a tram girl, round trip by the State Railway of Thailand.

The journey began at 10:30 AM and arrived in Lopburi around 12:39 PM. Traveling by third-class train from Don Mueang Railway Station, the ticket cost 24 baht. While free travel was possible with an early wake-up, this trip prioritized arriving on time rather than catching the sunrise.

😂

What are the must-see attractions in Lopburi?

Stroll through the temples and pagodas

For a leisurely and stylish exploration, wander through the numerous temples and pagodas. These sacred sites offer stunning architecture and a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the region. Don't miss the opportunity to pay respects at the Phra Kan Shrine, a revered landmark in the city. It is said that a visit to Lopburi is incomplete without offering prayers at this holy site.

The entrance fee for Thai people to visit the Phra Prang Sam Yot is only 10 baht.

The entrance fee for Thai citizens at Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat is 10 baht.

Wat Nakorn Kosa

The Monkey Temple is teeming with monkeys, just like the Three-Peaked Pagoda. They are adorable!

Stone Staircase Temple

If you're looking for a short trip outside the city, I highly recommend visiting a sunflower field. This area is famous for its abundance of sunflower fields, with the most popular being the one at Khao Chin Lae. However, when we visited, the sunflowers at Khao Chin Lae were wilting, so we stopped by another field nearby that was just as beautiful. This field, located further away than Khao Chin Lae, is cultivated by local villagers and situated near the Wat Sap Seua Maeb temple. If you're visiting the temple, don't forget to stop by and capture some stunning photos of the sunflowers. Not only is this a private field, but it's also free to visit.

🌻

The sunflower field at Wat Sap Seua Maeb might be another new tourist attraction that I would recommend visiting. It's just as beautiful as Khao Chin Lae.

Another popular spot worth mentioning is the cosmos field, also known as the field of scattered stars.

This is a passageway before going to Wat Sap Seua Maeb, which is located before the entrance to Khao Chin Lae. Just driving past, you can see the yellow fields. This place is new and the entrance is free. Hipsters, don't miss out on taking some cool pictures!

Cosmos Field: Free Admission for a Limited Time!

Don't miss out! The Cosmos Field is offering free admission for a limited time. Come and enjoy the vibrant blooms while they last!

Additional recommendations

To travel to Lopburi by train, passengers can board the Phitsanulok line or any northbound train, as all northbound lines pass through Lopburi.

😄
🙊 Which train stations can I board the train from? For the Northern Line, you can board at Don Mueang, Lak Si, or any other station along the line. If you're unsure, you can start your journey at Hua Lamphong Station for convenience.
🙊 For trips outside the city, you can hire a motorbike taxi, although it might be slightly expensive. Alternatively, you can rent a car for a group trip to share the cost. Renting a motorbike is another option, but finding a motorbike taxi might be challenging if you're not near a train station. In that case, it's recommended to head to the Bus Terminal (Bor Kor Sor), where you'll find more motorbike taxis available.

Expenses Summary (excluding food costs, as individual food expenses may vary)

  1. Round-trip train ticket to Lopburi: 24 baht x 2 = 48 baht
  2. Entrance fee to Phra Prang Sam Yot: 10 baht
  3. Entrance fee to Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat: 10 baht (Note: other temples may offer free entry)
  4. Motorcycle taxi fare:

Rented a motorbike taxi to see the sunflower field at Khao Chin Lae, but the mission failed, the sunflowers didn't bloom.

😂 I decided to visit Wat Sap Seua Maeb instead, which was a bit further away, but it was worth it. I also stopped by the cosmos field. The total cost for the round trip, distance, and sunshine was 568 baht. The win driver charged 500 baht!
