Hello everyone! ^O^

For this blog post, I'm taking you on a trip to Suphan Buri province.

When you think of Suphan Buri, what comes to mind?

"Sam Chuk Market" is probably the first thing that comes to mind, based on my informal survey. 5555555

But this time, I'm not taking you to Sam Chuk Market or the Dragon's Paradise Park.

I'm taking you to an unseen destination...

"Ban Laem Community"

This trip is officially called the... Thailand Village Academy FAM Trip.

Sponsored by the generous support of...

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand and the Ministry of Culture

I'm so excited to be invited to join Amazing Thailand in this FAM Trip. I'm so excited! ^O^

Let's go! We're excited, but we don't want to miss the train. For this trip, Kanom woke up very early in the morning to join the FAM Trip with her brothers and sisters. This trip has lovely and kind staff from Friday Trip who will take care of our group's comfort for two full days. They're not only lovely and take good care of us, but they're also hilarious! 555555

We set off from Bangkok and arrived at Ban Laem Subdistrict, Suphan Buri Province.

Pin location right here: "Baan Suan Phaen Din Mae"

Love at first sight!

When Khana met a wide smile and a sweet hello,

accompanied by a welcoming song and cute gestures,

it was a signature moment for the Ban Laem community. /\

This trip was also joined by a generous benefactor, Dr. Arunsi Ausrivongse, a distinguished figure from the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture. Kan Na jokingly referred to the professor as the "gang leader" due to her boundless energy.

Check in at Ban Laem Community, an ASEAN Standard Homestay in Bang Pla Ma District.

This community is a special tourist community under the Tourism and Guide Business Act B.E. 2556, one of the 26 communities from all over the country.

It is also the only community in Thailand that is registered as a tourism business.

It is also one of the 10 tourist communities of TAT in the Village Tourism 4.0 project.

And one of the 215 communities from all over the country, Creative Industry Village from the Department of Industrial Promotion.

It is also one of the 22 communities in the Thailand Village Academy project, organized by the Department of Cultural Promotion and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

And that's not all...

This community is also a community that follows the footsteps of His Majesty the King Rama IX from the Public Relations Department.

It is an OTOP community with a new way of life from the Ministry of Interior.

And it is a warm family community from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.

Wow! This community has won awards in every category. Let's give them a big round of applause! 👏👏👏

Now that you know about the Laem community, let's dive into the fun activities available here.

As part of the FAM Trip, we must live up to the name of the Thailand Village Academy project.

The name itself says 'Academy'.

So, let's fully immerse ourselves in learning the cool Thai way of life, Do It Like A Local style!

First, Kale wants to team up with her fellow travelers.

Because if clumsy Kale is left to do things on her own, there's a good chance she'll mess everything up. 55555555

Let's Begin!

Join us for our first workshop, "Learn to Make Aromatic Brahma Millionaire Incense: Incense for Your Birthday Color."

This workshop will be led by the kind and knowledgeable Ms. Prapassara Sridee.

Materials for Making Incense

This section showcases the materials prepared by Ms. Prapassara for making incense. The primary materials include:

  • Red gum powder (red sticky powder)
  • White sandalwood
  • Sawdust
  • Incense sticks
  • Alpha starch

Additionally, seven colors are used based on the day of birth. For example, Sunday is represented by the color red.

Before making incense, my sister taught me how to dry it first.

Drying incense is done after the incense has been molded, bundled together, and rolled by hand.

The bundle of incense will automatically curl and, when released, will form a flower-like shape.

Top, a member of the Kale group, was the first to try it out.

The results were impressive.

Followed by the beautiful works of the younger siblings in the group.

Kanna has arrived. Kanna was born on a Sunday, so she must be paired with a powerful red incense stick like this.

Kanna has watched her older sister do it, and Kanna is sure she can do it too!

Bang!!

Crashhhhhhhhhhhhh~

..........

..........

..........

"Kanna, go learn how to make incense sticks, I'll help you clean up later," said Dao sweetly, as if offering a lifeline.

This came amidst the disappointed gazes of the other group members.

Kanna, my dear! They asked you to dry the incense sticks, not throw them! 55555555

We should not judge the future based on the past.

Just because someone looks like they can't do something, doesn't mean they can't do it well. You never know!

And this is…um…well…

This is incense by Kanya Noi. It might look a bit like red sausage, but it's really incense. T_T

Anyway, even if it's not pretty, it's fun to make.

Let's give other friends a chance to make incense. Khana thinks Khana will take you to a workshop.

"Learn how to make ancient chili paste"

with Grandma Nangsopa Phantu. Let's try changing lanes. It might work out. 55555

The grandmother has beautifully arranged the ingredients for us to see.

There are Thai garlic, fish sauce, dried chilies, shallots, shrimp paste, and tamarind juice.

Classic ingredients, inexpensive, easy to find, but how to cook them deliciously? That's the point!

Let's learn with grandma.

Grandma's cooking is so skillful, the kale doesn't even have time to wilt.

All I know is that she added a lot of chili peppers! Then she pounded it with a triple rhythm, the sound echoing through the house.

Grandma pounded with such enthusiasm that the ancient chili paste soon appeared in the mortar.

Grandma scooped it into the prepared cups before letting us taste it.

Oh my goodness!! It's so delicious~ The chili paste flavor is so good, it's well-balanced, spicy and tangy, with a hint of sweetness.

It has a faint aroma of shallots and garlic, and it's not as spicy as I thought. It's really good, I love it.

Then, Grandma let us try to help her cook.

But Kale was quick on her feet and asked to be the one to pound the ingredients instead of mixing them.

The resulting flavor was... not sure if it was chili paste or dipping sauce. Too sour!! 55555

Learning from grandma, I asked for a photo with her. Grandma is so lovely.

She was smiling all the time. Grandma is very strong, as you can see from the way she pounds the mortar in a triple rhythm. ^^

How can you resist savory food without sweet treats?~

The fragrant aroma of kale wafts from afar, right here.

"Learning to make Thong Phop"

From the hands of the beautiful Ratana herself.

The ingredients for Thong Phop are similar to those for the familiar Thong Muan.

They include tapioca flour, chicken eggs, coconut cream, black sesame seeds, palm sugar, and salt.

Ratana has already mixed the batter for us, but we have to pour it ourselves.

Fold the batter yourself. Come on! Kanom must fight! 55555555

12...123...12...12...1 I'm cheering myself on in my heart. Let's get started!!

Pour the batter into the mold about 3/4 of the ladle.

Then close it tightly, wait for about 1 minute, and then flip it over to the other side.

Wait until the edges of the dough turn golden brown, then gently pry it out of the pan.

Fresh from the oven, the aroma fills the air, the warmth radiates. Don't just admire it,

you must fold it quickly, or the dough will harden and become brittle, you won't be able to fold it in time!

Done! I have carefully completed all the steps like a pro.

Kan Na finally got her first piece of Thong Phop in her life. Tears are about to fall. Let's give her a round of applause~

Let's try it... Of course, it must be the most delicious in the world.

Because Kale didn't cook the flour herself 55555555

Kale loves the fragrant smell of black sesame seeds, the rich, sweet, and crunchy taste.

The morning flew by with joy, wide smiles, and laughter.

At noon, Boy, or Sopon, the talented son of Grandma Sopa, will take us on a boat trip on the Tha Chin River.

To have lunch on the boat while enjoying the atmosphere of ancient houses and temples on both sides.

Shortly after boarding the ship, the recommended dishes were placed on the table.

The colors were very appetizing. Let's start with the first dish, lotus stem in coconut milk soup.

The soup was sweet and rich, and the lotus stem was very juicy. It was so delicious!

Stir-fried eggplant with shrimp This dish is amazing. The eggplant is sweet and delicious, and the kale is my favorite.

Spicy stir-fried catfish with vibrant colors, but the taste is well-balanced and not too spicy.

And this spicy crab dip is delicious, Kale loves it. It's best enjoyed with fresh vegetables.

Especially with fresh fingerroot, it's incredibly fragrant.

Crispy Omelette: A Simple Yet Delicious Dish

This basic omelette recipe is quick and easy to make, and it's sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Ready in under five minutes, this dish is perfect for a quick breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

This is a recommended menu: Tom Yum Pla Ma Hot Pot.

The fish is so tender and melts in your mouth, it's so delicious that it makes your heart skip a beat~

After a delicious meal, let's enjoy the scenery along the riverbanks.

This is a boat trip following the royal journey of King Rama V.

And retracing the footsteps of Sunthorn Phu's Nirat Suphan.

Throughout the journey, Boy would point out interesting landmarks, such as ancient Thai houses and temples along the way. He would also sing fun songs to entertain the passengers. Boy is a truly talented entertainer.

Here, Boy said it's a sparrow's nest.

Kan barely grabbed the camera in time. It's the first time I've ever seen one.

And this is a traditional Thai house, Laem style house.

Because the gable has a pointed shape like this /\ /\

As the afternoon sun sets in...

The boat takes us to the home of Grandma Sompong Srisangngam.

Here, we will learn how to make "Khanom Khao Law".

Just the name alone is enough to make you curious, right? I was curious too, haha!

When we arrived, Grandma was already waiting for us with a table full of ingredients for making desserts.

Before teaching us how to make the dessert, Grandma gave us a brief history of the dish.

Khao Kan Law is one of the five desserts served to the host and hostess.

These five desserts are: Khao Tom Daeng, Khao Tom Khao, Khao Niao Nam Kati, Khao Kan Law, and Kluai Nam Wa.

This set of ancient desserts is used in the "calling the spirit" ceremony at auspicious events such as weddings, ordinations, and housewarming ceremonies.

Today, we will learn how to make Khanom Khlan.

Ingredients:

  • แป้งท้าวยายม่อม: This is a type of Thai rice flour.
  • แป้งมันสำปะหลัง: This is tapioca flour.
  • มะพร้าวขูด: This is grated coconut.
  • น้ำอัญชัน: This is butterfly pea flower water, used for color.
  • น้ำต้มใบเตยหอม: This is pandan leaf water, used for fragrance.

Let's get started! Kale is in place. This time, Grandma teaches me, and I can do it.

Start by mixing both flours in a basin. Add the pandan leaf boiled water little by little and a little cold water.

Grandma said that using only hot water to mix the flour will make the flour overcooked.

Then, mix it until the dough forms a ball as shown in the picture.

It looks like dough, lol. Then, mix in the desired color.

Done! Kanom Khao Niao (sweet sticky rice) dough

Available in white, pandan green, and butterfly pea purple.

Next, we're going to knead the dough. First, you need to apply cornstarch to your hands.

So that the dough doesn't stick to your hands. Grandma didn't say in time to apply cornstarch only to the palms of your hands.

Kanna smoothed it all over. All ten fingers! 555555

Then I started to mold it…

I molded it into a long shape like a snake, holding the head and tail, lifting it slightly.

I used my fingers to squeeze the middle of the body, called "milk", twice, as shown in the picture.

My grandmother praised me for making beautiful kale. I'm so happy!

Gently drop the dumplings into the pot of boiling pandan water.

Wait until the dumplings float to the surface, then remove them and soak them in cold water.

Serve with grated coconut.

It's time to taste it ^_^

The taste is like boiled sweets. The first thing I got was the very fragrant smell of the sweets.

The dough is soft and the grated coconut gives it a creamy taste. It's very delicious. I can't stop dipping the kale. >///<

And here's what grandma made for us to try.

Looks delicious, doesn't it?

Nearby, we see a large number of duck eggs laid out.

We will be "learning how to make salted eggs" here.

Salted eggs are also known as "Kai Tapud". This session will be taught by Ms. Wanida.

Wanida showed us the finished products first.

The packaging for the salted eggs is unique and beautiful.

Each pack contains two salted eggs. They are so pretty, I really like them.

Let's learn how to make it together. Wanida will demonstrate the process first.

The method involves mixing fuller's earth with sea salt and then molding it around a duck egg.

Next, pair the egg and mold the clay together in the shape of a figure 8.

Finally, sprinkle dried pandan leaf powder to add color.

This also gives the salted egg a subtle pandan aroma, a unique characteristic of Kai Ta Phut.

Kan Na did a great job on this project. It's so beautiful, it's like a AAA-grade copy. 555555555

Done! Ms. Wanida helped me wrap it and put it in a bag.

Isn't it beautiful? I made it myself ^^

After spending the whole day making food, let's move on to creating beautiful and useful crafts.

We walk to the grassy area by the river in front of the house, where Grandma is already waiting for us.

Here, we will learn the art of weaving water hyacinth.

Our teacher is Grandma Luan Klong-in, who greets us with a warm and sweet smile.

She has a wonderful smile! She's been smiling since morning, and it's so endearing.

Judging from Kan Na's appearance, it's not hard to guess that she wouldn't be very good at handicrafts.

Based on her skills, her grandmother taught her how to make rose corsages.

As a party favor, it seems like a safer bet that Kan Na will succeed. Let's get started!

It didn't take long for Kanom Noi's water hyacinth rose to be completed.

No need to knit or weave anything complicated.

Just use your fingers to twist and roll, and it's done. Isn't it cute? 55555

This is the small silver barb that Kana fell in love with at first sight.

Kana bought one from the grandmother.

It's a unique and stylish bag (unless someone else buys the same one, haha).

This section features bags and baskets woven entirely from water hyacinth.

Aren't they beautiful? I mean, the model, of course. Hehe~

Our work is complete, and it's time to share it with the world! 1...2...3, smile!!

The workshop at your grandmother's house is over. Let's get back on the boat.

Brother Boy will take us to pay respects and make merit at the "Suk Kasem Temple" for good luck.

On the boat, the villagers from Laem generously gave us incense sticks for our birthdays.

Kan, who was born on a Sunday, received a bundle of 6 bright red incense sticks.

But Nong Tai, who was born on a Friday, received as many as 21 incense sticks.

Before Kan felt cheated, P'Boy explained that the number of incense sticks given depends on the strength of the day.

If the birthday falls on a strong day, the person will receive fewer incense sticks, like Kan.

But if the birthday falls on a weak day, the person will use more incense sticks to strengthen the day, according to the belief.

We have arrived at the temple. Inside the ordination hall, there is a large Buddha statue, the biggest one along the Tha Chin River.

Upon entering the temple, one will notice a gap in the ceiling above the head of the main Buddha statue. This is because the statue is taller than the ceiling.

After paying respects to the Buddha inside, come out and you will find the Buddha for your birthday.

Here, Kana takes out the powerful red incense.

May you find focus in your life,

And wisdom to solve your problems,

Oh, Lord!

With the sun high in the sky, we returned to Baan Suan Phaen Din Mae, feeling as blessed as if we had received a divine blessing.

Brother Boy had a surprise in store for us: a caravan of tuk-tuks! O[]O!

We were completely stunned! 55555 We were going to ride the tuk-tuks to the rice fields. Eeeeek! ~

"I've never ridden in one of these before, so I wanted to take a picture to remember it and show off to my friends. I feel like I'm auditioning to be the village headman's daughter, haha!"

After about 15 minutes, the tuk-tuk brought us to our destination.

"Manda Thipt's Self-Sufficient Farm"

The owner is Manda Thipt Chuenjit, who you see here.

This is a mixed-use farm with rice fields, lotus ponds, duck egg coops, and sweet bamboo shoots. We will be harvesting fresh ingredients from here to prepare a delicious dinner tonight. We are so excited!

Starting with...collecting duck eggs in the coop.

The ducks are not there at the moment...they are taking a bath in the canal.

(This is not a joke, the ducks are really taking a bath in the canal outside 5555)

Let's chop the sweet bamboo shoots together.

By now, everyone is wondering whether Kan Na will chop the bamboo shoots or her own leg first. 55555

But in the end, Kan Na got the bamboo shoots! Yay! Yay!

Meanwhile, the older students are on a boat collecting water lilies.

Let's get cooking!

Today's menu features stir-fried bamboo shoots, omelet, sour curry with water spinach stems and lotus stems, fried egg salad, and fried chicken. Every dish is delicious, especially the stir-fried bamboo shoots, which are a favorite of Khana's.

The next day…

For this trip, Khana spent a total of 2 days and 1 night.

And for the second day, we will visit the first place…

"Sampasiew Temple" or "Doraemon Temple".

This temple is called "Doraemon Temple" because there are images of the cartoon Doraemon hidden in various parts of the temple.

This is a clever trick because normally when people come to the temple to worship and pray, they will go back. Few people will take the time to admire the murals or understand the images. Therefore, this temple uses Doraemon to attract attention.

For example, this entrance gate is decorated with Doraemon stucco.

If we just walk by, the exquisite patterns of this gate may not be noticed much.

But if we say that Doraemon is hidden, while we are looking for it, we will also appreciate the stucco patterns.

This is the Maha Udom Sala, a pavilion used for ceremonies.

Therefore, there is only one entrance and exit.

On the sides are stupas containing the ashes of brave soldiers who died in battle.

during the reign of King Naresuan.

The Stunning Murals of the Church

Upon entering the church, Kale was awestruck by the breathtaking murals adorning the walls. The vibrant colors and intricate designs captivated her attention. The guide informed her that these magnificent works were created by a single artist over an astonishing eight-year period. The sheer dedication and artistry involved in their creation left Kale deeply impressed.

Doraemon is also in this picture, Kana took it for me to see. Can you see it?

And as I said, the artist took 8 years to paint it.

It would be a pity not to stop and admire such a good work.

Therefore, in order to attract tourists to spend some time looking at the picture,

they had to resort to the trick of finding the almost hidden cartoon characters.

By the time we find each point, we also understand the story of the Buddha's life.

It's really a well-thought-out content, don't you think? ^^

Look! Angry Birds are here. Can you spot them? They're so cute! 5555

There is a large pavilion outside where you can go up and enjoy the view.

There is a statue of Luang Pho on the top, where you can also offer alms or food to the monks.

The interior also houses a chamber showcasing ancient Buddha statues

as well as sacred relics for devotees to pay respects.

And here we are at the last stop of our trip, how time flies!

"Uncle Use's Farm" is a learning center for rice cultivation.

There are rice paddies and various vegetable plots to walk around and explore.

The place is beautifully arranged and very pleasant to walk around.

I can tell you that once you get here, you won't be able to stop taking pictures!

Upon entering, there is a corner where you can feed the tame buffaloes.

They are very friendly and will lick your hands. You can also pet their heads without worrying about them being aggressive. They just stand there calmly, making them adorable.

There are also exhibits of old items from around the 1980s. I haven't seen any of them before.

But some things show how long they've been around, like Lux soap. It's been around for a long time!!

After browsing the antiques, let's hop on the tram and tour the farm.

The tram will take us through the building, similar to a rice mill.

There are tractors, equipment, and machinery everywhere.

Upon exiting, you will pass by a greenhouse where vegetables are grown.

They are growing very well. This greenhouse covers a vast area.

There is also a mushroom farm. In fact, at Kan Na's house, they also grow king oyster mushrooms.

But they don't have a greenhouse like this. Kan Na grows them for fun to eat herself.

The Tram Journey

After a short ride, the tram brought our group to a stop here.

Just the name of the entrance is intriguing. Let's go inside and see what's there.

Oh my! My heart is pounding! This is the first time I've seen a quail up close.

It's full of eggs! It makes me crave quail eggs. Do you like them too? 5555555

This is a very clean egg-laying chicken coop.

This playground features a super tall swing where you can enjoy panoramic views.

I guess this is where the phrase "fun to the extreme" comes from, haha!

You can take a boat ride or take beautiful photos like this.

There are so many great photo spots here, even Professor Mom couldn't resist taking a few snaps.

Anyone who comes here is sure to be impressed, as there are truly a ton of toys to play with.

After taking photos in every pose imaginable, we continued our journey by taking the tram.

We have arrived at the rice field. What's unique is that the rice is planted in trays.

The tour guide explained that this is a rice seedling nursery. The seedlings are grown in trays and sold by the tray.

When farmers buy the trays, they can take the seedlings and plant them directly in their fields. How cool is that!

Translation:

Wow, look at the watering method! It's super cool, like a high-society farm. 55555

Here, they use machines to save labor, but the results are excellent. It takes less time to work.

The produce is of high quality, as befits a model farm. Kale really likes this place.

Although it was visually appealing, my brother brought the seedlings closer for a closer look and feel.

The rice seedlings were neatly arranged, and the kale felt very soft in my hands.

Translation:

The back is stamped and has a phone number.

It is a very high-quality rice seedling, and the price is not expensive.

Farmers will definitely smile.

How was your community-based tourism experience? Kale really enjoyed it, didn't you all?

This Do It Like A Local style of tourism is so much fun and cool, isn't it?

Who would have thought that one day we would be traveling to mold incense and pound chili paste?

But once we did it, not only did we learn and open up our world from the normal world we live in,

we also got cool pictures to show off to our friends. True vintage style ❤

And this cool Thai-style tourism is not just for teenagers.

Parents with children of a cute age, the age of learning and remembering,

Kanna thinks that children must love it very much. With the use of small hand muscles to do good activities like this.

Try bringing your children and grandchildren to visit for a while! Like it or not, we'll find out! ^^

Oh! Where is it near? Let's travel there. So that the children don't have to travel too tired.

Because the project Thailand Village Academy has 22 villages in 22 provinces to visit.

You might be surprised that the mothers will have more fun than the children. As for the fathers, they will be a little tired.

Because they have to take pictures from different angles, post them to the fullest, for the mothers, right? 5555555
