Travelogue

Night One

Before heading out, I picked up a wide-angle lens at the EC Mall branch on the 4th floor of Fortune Town. Having only used telephoto lenses in the past, I was eager to experiment with a wide-angle lens that offered a less extreme field of view. With a focus on capturing buildings and landscapes, this lens proved to be an excellent choice, avoiding excessive distortion while providing a pleasing perspective. My current camera, which I have owned for almost two years, was also purchased from EC Mall. They offer a comprehensive selection of photographic equipment, competitive prices, and multiple branches conveniently located throughout Bangkok, ensuring both store and manufacturer warranties.

This is an empty paragraph.

The flight was booked at 8:30 p.m. for the outbound leg.

Check in online in advance and save the boarding pass file. No need to waste time queuing at the check-in counter. You can show the boarding pass file to the staff both when entering the airport and before boarding. After passing through the baggage check, stop by Burger King, your favorite restaurant, to enjoy your special privileges. In addition to this restaurant, there are many other participating restaurants. Check them out! ^^

This time we have to walk a bit further, Gate 77 is over there. Of course, the gate downstairs will require a bus to connect to the plane.

This was my first time flying with Thai Lion Air, and I found the seats to be surprisingly spacious, contrary to what I had heard from others. Additionally, the airline offers a generous 10 kg free checked baggage allowance, which was convenient for me as I only had a backpack and camera bag to carry on board. This saved me time at the airport.

A whisper in the air: "The flight attendants are so cute! One of them looks just like DJ Woonsen. I really wanted to ask for a photo, but I was too shy. So I managed to take a blurry picture on the sly."

Traveling at night offers a unique perspective, with glittering city lights stretching below and the possibility of spotting stars and the moon. However, capturing these small lights from a moving airplane can be challenging. Waiting until the seatbelt sign is off is crucial, as turbulence can blur the image. Setting a slow shutter speed to capture more light will result in light trails, while a fast shutter speed will produce a dark image. Expert advice on this technique is highly sought after.

The journey took approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes to reach Phuket Airport. During the landing, I was a bit nervous about the impact, as it is a common topic of discussion. However, the landing was much smoother than I expected. Upon entering the terminal, I looked for the Avis counter, as I had already booked a rental car. After a short wait, I walked out to meet another staff member who picked me up in front of the airport. The rental cars are located at the service center office outside, so I had to take a van.

Avis rental cars are not only in excellent condition and look new, but they are also affordable and offer a free 4-hour late return policy. For more information, please contact us at Tel. 02-555-3000-4 or visit our website https://www.avisthailand.com.

The first night's accommodation was booked through an agency app for 2xx baht. It included a TV, air conditioning, drinking water, a water heater, towels, a bed, pillows, and blankets. It was not old and was considered good value for the price. Tuana Blusky Patong Resort is located next to the police station. I don't know the regular price, but if you are interested, you can contact them for more information.

Day 1

Lunch near Patong Beach - Walk on Patong Beach - Check in at Thavorn Palm Beach Resort, Karon Beach - Walk at Lard Yai Walking Street and see street art on Thalang Road - Eat seafood buffet at the resort - Walk at the market near Karon Beach

Waking up late, as we were here to relax, we had plenty of time to spare. Stepping outside, we were greeted by a light drizzle and overcast skies. We drove to Patong Beach for a stroll, arriving just as the sun broke through the clouds. Patong Beach was teeming with tourists, mostly Westerners with a smattering of Chinese visitors. Some were sunbathing, others were swimming, and still others were enjoying the amusement rides. It seemed like a paradise for tourists. There were beachfront restaurants, and upon exiting, we were met with an abundance of public transportation options, including taxis, songthaews (shared taxis), and large songthaews. There were also numerous nearby accommodations and markets selling food and necessities. Patong Beach is therefore the most renowned beach in Phuket.

However, as this is a tourist area, the food and drinks are quite expensive. So we drove around to find a restaurant that was a bit further away from the beach. We found a restaurant called "Yen Ta Fo Sai Nam Yen" on Sai Nam Yen Road. The prices were reasonable and the food looked delicious. The taste was also good. We ordered dry noodles with dumplings, crispy pork rice, Pepsi, and 2 glasses of ice for a total of only 120 baht.

Intending to check in to the resort, I understood that the resort was located towards Kamala Beach. As I was driving slowly in the pouring rain, I realized I had gone to the wrong place. There are two resorts under the same brand in Phuket: Thavorn Beach Village & Spa, located on Kamala Beach, and Thavorn Palm Beach Resort, located on Karon Beach. I turned around and headed back to Karon Beach. There was not a single drop of rain here. The resort's entrance and exit are on the other side, while the back side is closer to the beach.

Parked the car and walked to check in. Received a refreshing roselle juice as a welcome drink.

The front area boasts a spacious lawn with lush greenery, offering a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere for a leisurely stroll.

This hotel offers over 300 rooms, with both double and single beds. The rooms are primarily decorated in white and light yellow, creating a warm, inviting, and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. The rooms are fully equipped with all necessary amenities.

We mainly use wide lenses in our room. I'm still not very familiar with it, so I keep switching back and forth, but I really like it. I'll bring it with me on my next trip and use it a lot. I got it from EC Mall for around ten thousand baht. It comes with a warranty from the service center. I'm very confident in this store because the camera I've been using for almost two years is also under warranty from here, and I've never had any problems with it.

From the room, you can see the view behind the resort, which is full of coconut trees and many other trees. You can also see the swimming pool, of which there are three in total.

Suddenly, it started to rain. A lone magpie flew to the balcony to seek shelter, unafraid of humans. Another magpie followed, making for an adorable sight.

A staff member knocked on the door and said, "I have a Welcome Fruit for you." That's great.

After the rain subsided, we continued to explore the hotel, taking in the sights of the swimming pool, the lush greenery in the garden, the expansive lawn, the winding paths, and the chirping birds. The overall impression was that of a vast and flourishing backyard.

And the various relaxation zones located in the front building

In the evening, take a stroll along Thalang Road, where you can admire street art. This is located in the Lard Yai Walking Street area of the old town. It is only open on Sunday evenings. If you come on another day or at another time, you can still take a walk and take beautiful photos of the old buildings in the Sino-Portuguese style, which harmoniously blends Western and Eastern art. There are also many restaurants and dessert shops in this area.

The Talad Yai market is primarily a food market, offering a wide variety of delicious local dishes and snacks, alongside a limited selection of other goods.

As dusk approached, we returned to the resort and headed to the Old Siam restaurant for a seafood buffet. Located at the back of the resort, it offered stunning sea views and a perfect spot to watch the sunset.

Seafood buffet is only available on Sunday evenings for 790 baht.

In addition to seafood, there is a wide variety of other dishes available for unlimited consumption. The taste is quite delicious.

The show will feature 3-4 additional Thai dance performances around 8:00 PM.

After eating, take a walk down to the swimming pool near the back exit. There is a crocodile statue there.

Stepping outside, I couldn't believe that even at this late hour, tourists were still sitting by the beach enjoying the breeze, despite the darkness. So I tried setting up my camera for a time-lapse shot, cranking up the ISO until it looked like daylight. Actually, I just wanted a soft glow, but I ended up overdoing the settings a bit. ^^”

Continuing on to the market side, there are restaurants, shops selling daily necessities, convenience stores, and, as I noticed, many stores selling stir-fried ice cream like this.

Day 2

Visit the Sweet Talk resort cafe - Learn to make pizza at Ciao Bistro, the resort's Italian restaurant - Learn to make cocktails at the resort - Visit various beaches - Walk around the fresh seafood market at Chalong Bay, Rawai Beach - Have dinner at the resort

Come down to enjoy breakfast at Thavorn Palm. Here, you can have breakfast from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. There are many menus to choose from, it's great.

In the late morning, we had an appointment at the bakery and coffee shop of our accommodation, namely Sweet Talk and Coffee Talk. These establishments are located along the back road of the resort, directly across the street from Karon Beach.

Toasted bread, green tea lava brownie, pineapple smoothie, and mixed berry smoothie

Savoring the dessert, we strolled outside to admire the lush garden and swimming pool in the back. The atmosphere was incredibly serene.

At noon, I continued to learn how to make pizza. I didn't have to go far to learn, as it was right here in the resort at Ciao Bistro and Café, an Italian restaurant with a wood-fired pizza oven in front. You can contact them to request a pizza-making lesson. The chef will teach you everything from how to knead the dough and how much pressure to apply to how to bake it to perfection. It will be delicious with the pride of your own handiwork. For 300 baht, you can learn, make, and then take it out to eat. Let others taste your handiwork, I mean, your skill.

Not only that, but there's also a cocktail-making class at the resort's bar. It's an art that requires understanding and practice.

In the evening, we drove to the beach below for a walk. Kata Beach and Kata Noi Beach each offer a similar atmosphere, with a moderate number of tourists.

The viewpoint offers stunning views of three bays and beaches: Kata Noi, Kata, and Karon.

We then visited three more beaches: Nai Harn, Ya Nui, and Rawai. Nai Harn is similar to the three beaches we visited earlier.

Yanuhi Beach is a small beach located near the viewpoint of the wind turbine and Laem Phromthep. It is less crowded than other beaches, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing swim.

In the evening, the water recedes at Rawai Beach, revealing a multitude of anchored boats.

Therefore, find a parking space at the end near the pier bridge.

Entering the market, you'll find rows of stalls selling fresh seafood on the right, catering primarily to tourists with slightly higher prices. However, locals can bargain for better deals. On the left side, you'll encounter seafood restaurants where you can purchase fresh ingredients and have them cooked for a fee. The cooking charge is typically 100 baht per kilogram and 70 baht for half a kilogram, applicable to almost all restaurants. We opted for three skewered oysters to satisfy our cravings. The restaurant kindly opened the shells for us, making them easy to eat. However, be aware that condiments and dipping sauces are not provided.

We returned to the resort for dinner, this time at the Old Siam restaurant. We opted for à la carte this time, and I can confidently say that everything was delicious! Every dish was flavorful, and while the prices were high, they were justified by the quality of the ingredients, the taste, and the presentation of each dish. It was a truly satisfying experience.

Day 3

Lunch at the resort - Visit various beaches until evening - Stop for dinner - Return the rental car and travel back

This morning, I didn't get up to eat breakfast because I was very full from last night. Haha. I got up and sat in the room to relax.

Afterward, I took a walk around the resort to admire the birds and the scenery. I loved the lush greenery, the variety of flowers, the swimming pool, and the beautiful views from different angles. It made me feel like I was truly on vacation, and there were many other nearby places to explore as well.

For lunch, we headed to Ciao Bistro, where we enjoyed a delicious spread of Italian dishes.

Fish soup, tomato bruschetta, mixed fried fish, pork chop, fish steak and fettuccine

Translation:

The coconut water is incredibly delicious! I've never tasted anything like it before. If you have the chance to try it, I highly recommend it.

After checking out, we spent the rest of the day exploring various beaches. We swam, strolled along the shore, admired the scenery, and watched tourists sunbathe until dusk.

Stopping for a quick bite before heading back, I stumbled upon an Isaan restaurant while looking for a gas station. I opted for a light meal of papaya salad, spicy soup, and fried chicken wings.

After that, return the car to the Avis office in Phuket, Soi Nai Yang 13 (search on the map for "Avis Office"). Then, wait for the van to take you to the airport. After a short wait, it will be time to board your flight back home.
