The childhood memory of my grandfather sitting on the sofa watching television is vivid. He often watched documentaries, and I remember him saying he would take me to see one that was an important historical event, a place of great beauty and significance. Today, my grandfather is gone, but that memory has brought me here. The memory is now even clearer.

The journey to Siem Reap (Cambodia) took four days, a pilgrimage to witness the wonders my grandfather described. The majestic silhouette of Angkor Wat, bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun, reflected on the still water, creating a breathtaking spectacle. We arrived before dawn to capture this magical moment. Angkor Wat, a magnet for millions of visitors each month, faces west, the direction of death. This enigmatic orientation begs the question: why? The answer lies in the mysteries of its construction.
