Following the previous review,
When in Rome, Italy trip part 1 https://th.readme.me/p/17612
where Jade took her friends on a flight from Thailand to connect in Helsinki, and then took them on a 2-day trip to Rome, the capital of Italy.
Therefore, without further ado, let's continue with another unique city that fans of Dan Brown's books must be familiar with, "Florence". How beautiful is it compared to the author's description in the book? Let's follow Jade's camera lens and storytelling.
Before arriving in Florence, let's buy train tickets first. It's not far from Rome to Florence, only one hour. You can buy tickets at the automatic ticket machine at the train station. It looks like this.
We then took the train to Florence. The train ride was uneventful, so I will skip over it.
After getting off the train in Florence, we were starving.
After eating pizza and spaghetti for two days, we decided to try a Chinese restaurant on the third day.
The restaurant is located just across the train station.
Stir-fried morning glory costs 160 baht per plate. Hehe.
After a satisfying meal, we walked to our accommodation. In Florence, we booked a B&B, as usual. Looking at the location, it was only a few hundred meters away. As I mentioned in my previous review, for those who are planning a trip to Italy, it is important to study the map, plan your itinerary, and do your research thoroughly. Most importantly, you should book accommodation that is within walking distance, which will be convenient and save you a lot of money.
The bedroom was lovely and had a shared bathroom. It was located in the city center, making it convenient to walk anywhere.
Florence is a small city, so you can easily walk around and explore the entire city. It's very comfortable.
After checking in, we decided to go for a walk. We will only be in Florence for one night on this trip, as we will be renting a car and driving to Tuscany for three days. It's going to be stunning, so stay tuned for the next review.
Before heading to Tuscany, let's take a look around Florence. I want to emphasize again that this Italian trip is not about knowledge. I just want to share my perspective and I'm not going to pay to enter any museums. Just walking around the city and taking pictures is worth it.
When we left the hotel, we came across a market that had a similar vibe to Khao San Road.
The souvenir shops are dazzling, but be careful before you buy, as some items may be Made in China.
This mask looks like the ones in Venice. No need to rush, since you're already in Italy, Jade wouldn't miss Venice. But please wait a little longer.
And we continue our walk through the city.
Ice cream everywhere
We have arrived at the landmark of Florence, the Basilica of San Lorenzo.
Street performers entertain tourists at popular locations, similar to Rome.
In Italy, it is common to see soldiers standing guard at tourist attractions in every city. This is a normal security measure and there is no need to be alarmed.
The carousel is beautiful.
As a journalist translator, I can translate the sentence from Thai to English:
Personally, I really like the architecture of the arched gate. It looks very classic.
Coffee shops and cafes are typically charming and offer a similar price range.
Upon arriving at the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, you will be greeted by numerous sculptures.
This is not a statue, but an artist performing as a statue. The resemblance is uncanny!
Among the museum's highlights is the renowned sculpture David by Leonardo da Vinci.
Seeing David on this trip was a real treat. Let's move on.
Ponte Alle Grazie
As evidence, I took a picture to show that I was actually there and not just making things up.
On the other side is the Ponte Vecchio, Florence's famous old bridge.
In pleasant weather, people will come out to sit and relax.
Italians are known for their love of dogs. They often take their dogs for walks on the streets, which is a charming sight.
Stunning graffiti art.
The City of Da Vinci
After a day of exploring Florence, we were exhausted but satisfied. We had seen all the major landmarks and were ready to rest. The next day, we picked up our rental car and embarked on a three-day tour of Tuscany. The scenery was breathtaking, and we had a wonderful time. Be sure to follow along as we share our adventures!
