I have traveled through Pakse twice...
The first time, many years ago, I attended the press conference for the release of the film "Sabai Dee Pakse" by Sakchai Deenan. It was my first time staying at the Champasak Grand Hotel.
Years later, I finally visited Pakse, Sekong, and Attapeu, two weeks before the severe floods. I stayed at the Eravan Riverside Hotel in Pakse, as recommended by Mr. Kiew, the owner of Tung Whai Homestay. Initially, I wanted to stay at the former palace of Chao Boun Oum, which I had booked through Agoda. However, I decided against it because I am terrified of ghosts, to be honest.
The Erawan Riverside Hotel, established several years ago, is situated on the city's main road, close to the Durian Market. It is within walking distance if the weather is not too hot. A tuk-tuk ride costs between 20 and 40 baht, depending on your bargaining skills. The hotel is also conveniently located near Friendship Department Store.
The accommodation price is between 1000-1290 baht, not exceeding that. The room is beautiful. The room I got is a room with a river view. The price per night is 1290 baht. Three people stayed, including me, my adopted son in Laos, and his friend.
A room with a river view offers a stunning vista of the Mekong River as it flows through the city of Pakse.
On the other side of the river, a large Buddha statue, the city's landmark, sits majestically atop a mountain. In the morning, the air is filled with beautiful mist, making it resemble Mount Fuji in Japan from afar.
I particularly enjoy the room on this side. I can lie in bed and watch the moonlight and starlight through the window, which is made entirely of glass walls. It's truly beautiful.
This month, I will be traveling to Pakse again to register the adoption of an orphan at Muang Pak Song.
The next stop is Attapeu and Don Khong to film a documentary. I plan to stay in Pakse for another two nights and stay at the same hotel. I like the service of the staff here. The service is excellent, and the breakfast buffet has a wide variety of options.
The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service for guests, eliminating the need for fuel costs. This service impressed me greatly, as the hotel transported me to various locations, including the shopping mall and the airport for my return flight to Thailand. This exceptional customer service is a testament to the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction. If you are visiting Pakse, I highly recommend staying at this hotel for a memorable and enjoyable experience.
Thank you.
