Quick Start: What to Do Before Visiting Pua, Nan Province
Accommodation
The primary goal and highlight of our trip to Pua was to enjoy the stunning views and experience local hospitality. We opted for two accommodations:
- Phuka Mountain View Resort: This affordable cliffside resort, owned by the same people behind the popular "Underground Coffee" shop, boasts breathtaking views.
- Hin Pha Homestay: Nestled amidst rice paddies and mountains, this homestay offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the local culture. Guests can even request a traditional "khantoke" dinner for a truly authentic experience.
Both accommodations can be booked directly through their respective websites.
2) AirAsia is a good option for short trips with a focus on round-trip flights. Prices may not be the cheapest due to booking only a month in advance.
DAY 1: Bangkok — Nan — Pua
Transportation: We rented a motorbike for 250 baht per day from Tonocarrent Nan to get to the airport. This was a very convenient and affordable option (with a 1000 baht deposit). We encountered a minor issue upon arrival, but the shop staff were very helpful. It's recommended to call them directly instead of messaging through Facebook.
From Don Mueang, it only takes about an hour to reach Nan Nakhon Airport. Upon arrival, the atmosphere was lively despite the rain. We were determined to head to Pua as soon as we arrived, so we rented a motorbike and set off from the city center. The journey took another hour or so, and we enjoyed a leisurely ride on the motorbike. (It's advisable to bring a raincoat and sunglasses.) The first thing we noticed along the way was the fantastic air quality. As someone with allergies, I was able to breathe deeply and appreciate the fresh air. The scenery was breathtaking, with rice fields, forests, and mountains lining the road. If you have the chance, I highly recommend riding a motorbike; it's an exhilarating experience.
Ride safely, wear a helmet!
After driving for about 5 minutes, we arrived at our destination, Andres Bar, an underground coffee shop in Pua. Unfortunately, it started raining heavily just as we arrived, leaving us soaked. However, the rain stopped shortly after we reached the shop. After taking a shower and changing clothes, we decided to have dinner at Andres Bar.
The top of the shop is all you can see, so be sure to look closely at the sign.

Sipping a light beer in the rain
This establishment functions as a café, restaurant, and late-night bar. While situated near a major road, the entrance is hidden from view. Descending a staircase reveals the subterranean location, boasting breathtaking views unparalleled elsewhere.
The night view is so chill. :)
The open-air shop is long and narrow, with a variety of seating options, allowing customers to share the panoramic view. In addition to various coffees, the shop also offers a wide selection of beverages, including craft beers, soju, and plum wine. (Sweet smile 555)
Stir-fried water spinach with fresh shrimp, lemongrass salad with fresh shrimp, sizzling beef on a hot plate, spicy fish maw soup, and spicy chicken leg soup. Enjoy with a cold beer for a truly satisfying experience.

DAY 2
- Andres Bar: A local establishment offering refreshments and socializing opportunities.
- กาแฟบ้านไทลื้อ: A traditional Thai coffee shop, likely specializing in unique regional blends and brewing methods.
- ฟาร์มเห็ดบ้านหัวน้ำ: A mushroom farm, potentially offering tours, educational experiences, or fresh produce.
- หินผา: A rock formation, possibly a scenic viewpoint or natural landmark.
Woke up to dim light, but there was enough fog to take pictures. ~
Due to the recent storms, we had to wake up early to check on the sunrise periodically. We saw pictures on the resort's page showing stunning morning fog. Although the fog was lighter than usual today, we still managed to capture some images. As the sun didn't appear until almost nine in the morning, we took the opportunity to walk around and take pictures at Andres bar and the resort while waiting for breakfast.
Come have breakfast here. :)
Magnificent view! T^T
The rooftop offers a spacious area, an observation tower, and a bar for customers who wish to work while enjoying the stunning morning view, which is exceptional for the price.
This place is beautiful. If you're looking for a recommendation, come here.
The sun is starting to come out.
The morning light here shines directly on the bar area in the shop, making it a perfect spot for taking photos. In addition to the beanbags, swings, hammocks, and various chairs, there is also a bar area for those who want to relax, use the wifi, or work.
Both drip and pod options are available.
In the afternoon, we bid farewell to Andres bar and headed to Baan Tai Lue Coffee to enjoy a cup of coffee and stroll through the rice fields. We then took a nap in a hut. The place was quite crowded.
Just a short drive from Ban Tai Lue, you'll find Baan Hu Na Mushroom Farm nestled on a small hill. The drive might be a bit challenging (and less crowded than Ban Tai Lue, though still busy), but there's no need to wait for a table as they have plenty. From here, you can capture stunning views of the rice fields below and enjoy a meal surrounded by nature. Despite visiting during the day, the atmosphere was pleasant and surprisingly cool.
This place has a swing that looks just like the ones in Bali.
In the late afternoon, we drove to our accommodation for the day, Hin Pha Homestay. It's a lovely place surrounded by nature, and it even has a rooftop for stargazing at night. We ordered dinner there, a set for only 500 baht that could feed 2-3 people. Great value!
The food is easy to eat and very delicious.
A view of the room's surroundings.
The atmosphere was fantastic. :)
DAY 3 Hin Pha - Nan City - Don Mueang
After waking up and having breakfast, I arranged to ride a motorbike back to Nan city. The weather was sunny and pleasant, making for a comfortable ride. I took the opportunity to drive around the city before returning the motorbike at the airport. I arrived back in Don Mueang in the afternoon, feeling that it was a trip with minimal travel fatigue.
This is the first time I've walked to board a plane from the terminal building myself. 555
