Happy Friday, dear Gkonkrua members!
This Tamkarnwela will take you to taste Japanese food at Sushi Oku restaurant in K Village Sukhumvit 26. This restaurant just opened at the beginning of this year. It's considered a new restaurant. But as far as I know, both the owner and the chef team have had experience in making sushi restaurants for a long time. It's considered a new restaurant, but the skills are not new.
Lately, there has been a surge of premium sushi restaurants in Bangkok, with new ones opening almost daily. The competition is fierce, and if the ingredients aren't top-notch and the food isn't delicious, it can be difficult to survive.
Sushi Oku boasts a prime location in K Village, offering convenient parking and a central city setting. This makes it an ideal spot for gatherings and meet-ups with family and friends.
Let's see what we ate that day.
Sushi Oku translates to "Hundred Million Sushi".
We saw this shop since it started construction and we were wondering if it would open in time for the New Year. It turned out that it didn't finish in time and opened in mid-January.
We went to eat there at the end of April. There were a lot of promotions. Let's choose and see.
The atmosphere in the shop is relaxed.
Not luxurious to the point of not daring to enter
Or if you'd like to sit at the counter bar and chat with the chef, you're welcome to do so.
After you order your food, the staff will serve you edamame. Everyone gets some.
The most tempting thing is this promotion. It's a discount until May 31st. Lately, the competition among sushi restaurants has been fierce, and it's hard without a promotion.
Just a moment, we went to the store but there was a promotion.
The first thing I chose to order was Salmon Tataki, which was reduced from 250 to 150 baht.
The salmon comes in thick pieces, not scraps. It's so satisfying!
Hotate Mentai, originally priced at 190 baht, is now available for 114 baht. I tried two bites before. The scallop is topped with mentaiko sauce, which has a rich flavor. The top is lightly torched.
Order from the promotion menu for another 4 items: Cyu-Toro 300 baht reduced to 180 baht / Hamachi 150 baht reduced to 90 baht / Hotate Mentai 190 baht reduced to 114 baht (repeated) and Foie Gras 280 baht reduced to 168 baht.
Let's take a closer look at the fish patterns. I really like the Foie Gras. The sauce is delicious. The Foie Gras is a good size. I should probably order another piece...
"Why don't you try something else on the menu? I hear the chef here is really good at making rolls, and there are a lot of different options to choose from."
Rainbow Roll 350 Baht
It has many colors and many things. When eaten together, it tastes good.
Sushi Set
I ordered the Sushi Oku Set B for 310 baht, but the set actually contains white squid. Could the chef please change it?
The food is beautifully presented with artistic flair. It includes Akami, Aji, Salmon, Ika Tako, Tamago, and Kappa Maki.
Try ordering a set of Sashimi.
Oku Sashimi Set A 450 baht. It's a perfect way to end the meal.
There are 3 types of fish: Aji / Salmon / Akami
Aji and mackerel belong to the same family, but they are not exactly the same. Aji has a firmer texture and is not as fishy.
The Akami part is the red meat of the tuna, which is the middle part of the fish's body.
Sushi Oku is another interesting premium sushi restaurant in Bangkok that has entered the market, which is quite competitive. The food I had that day was fresh. What sets this place apart from others is that the prices on the menu are net prices. No need to worry about ++. If you're passing by K Village, stop by and see what promotions they have. I'm also planning to check out their promotions next month.
