Following the previous episode, I drove out of EDAM and headed for the island of MARKEN, which is only 15km away. A small island that I had never heard of before, but I could see from the map that it was an island with a road connection, so I decided to drive there to see it.

Another excellent decision... a small, beautiful, and peaceful island with a fantastic atmosphere. After parking the car, we walked through a charming little village to reach the beach lined with houses and shops. The water was crystal clear, the sky was a vibrant blue... Oh, I would love to go back again!

After a short walk, I decided to head back… and stopped by a local snack stall to try some… what seemed like French toast… It was delicious! They were selling it on the side of the road, just like back home.

On the way back from the island, there are scenic viewpoints on the bridge at intervals for taking pictures.

10 kilometers from the island, on the way back to my accommodation, I passed through a town whose name I didn't know… but… the small canals and the beautiful boats parked there were so captivating that I decided to turn left and enter… MONNICKENDAM… that's the name of this town… The charm of driving around… it's right here. You always find beautiful places you didn't expect… you can always detour and explore.

The small town of Monnickendam is another place that impressed me. It boasts beautiful canals, charming houses, and ancient churches. The old town, with its original houses and cobblestone streets, is particularly captivating. I spent hours exploring the beauty of this historic village.

After that, we returned to our accommodation, which was only 20 km away. This made for a short drive. In summary, we visited four cities in the same area today. The short driving distances allowed for ample time to explore and capture numerous photos. Stay tuned for Day 3 in the next episode.
