Did you know? You no longer need to take a boat to reach Koh Lanta Yai. A bridge has been built across the sea, making travel more convenient. It has been about two years since the bridge was completed, and I have never had the chance to drive across it. With a free weekend, I decided to take my family on a drive to see the new bridge. Come along with me!
...Koh Lanta is located in Krabi Province...between Trang and Krabi....I drove from Phatthalung to Trang, via Sikao District, and then turned left at the junction to the island. It took about three hours...not too far.
Upon arrival at the pier, during the initial phase, passengers will still need to board a ferry to travel between the mainland and Koh Lanta Noi.
After purchasing tickets, passengers queued to board the ferry for a five-minute journey to Koh Lanta Noi.
After boarding the ferry, we followed the road to Koh Lanta Yai. Soon, we arrived at the Siri Lanta Bridge, which connects to Koh Lanta Yai. We stopped to take some photos, as the view was beautiful.
After crossing the bridge, turn right and follow the main road to check in at your accommodation, as I arrived in the late afternoon. Along the way, I stopped to capture beautiful pictures at the beaches I passed by as I pleased.
Driving along the road, we eventually arrived at the SRILANTA RESORT on Klong Nin Beach. This four-star resort offered us a three-star price during the low season. Our spacious room, complete with a jacuzzi, cost only three thousand baht and included breakfast for three people, making it an exceptional value.
As the sun sets and the wind dies down, head to the beach to capture the evening glow. If you're driving, you have the flexibility to choose your ideal spot. The southern part of the island boasts beautiful, secluded beaches where you can find your perfect haven.
After taking photos until dusk, we started to feel hungry. There are many restaurants near Klong Nin Beach with great locations, facing the road in front. But at the back, if you don't know, you wouldn't realize that you're actually dining by the sea.
The food here is reasonably priced.
After a satisfying meal, a light drizzle began to fall, forcing us to abandon our plan to drive to the Sirindhorn Bridge to capture the city lights. If you have the chance, be sure to visit the bridge at night to witness the stunning illuminated spectacle.
… A new day dawns… Stepping out to capture the surroundings of the accommodation… Taking a dip in the pool… And then venturing out for further exploration.
Our destination this morning is the lighthouse at the southernmost tip of the island, which is also the location of Koh Lanta National Park. The drive will take approximately fifteen minutes, covering a distance of just ten kilometers.
In my opinion, this is the most picturesque spot on Koh Lanta.
I had the opportunity to fly a drone to capture images of the lighthouse amidst strong winds.
At noon, the sun was scorching hot. I drove to the last tourist spot on this trip, the Old Town Market of Lanta, which is the original community of Lanta Island. There are beautiful old houses, restaurants, cool cafes, and sea views... There are many shops with a good atmosphere to sit in. I chose to have coffee at THE OLD HOUSE, which also has a gallery of realistic paintings on the upper floor. The owner is lovely and fun to talk to.
The trip concluded with a delightful lunch at Sala Dan Pier, the most developed area on the island. Afterwards, we safely crossed the bridge back to Trang. If you have the chance, be sure to visit this charming destination.
