LAKE SUWA, JAPAN

I had the opportunity to drive around Japan at the end of July. I planned to visit Kamikochi and Matsumoto. I flew with Scoot Airlines and landed at Narita Airport, where I rented a car. However, the distance to Kamikochi is approximately 400 kilometers.

This car rental trip led me to plan a stay in Suwa City, which boasts the scenic Lake Suwa as its main attraction.

Arriving at the airport around ten in the morning, it was almost noon after going through immigration and picking up the rental car. The three-hundred-kilometer journey took quite a while.

Following Google Maps, we sped towards Tokyo. At a rest stop along the way, we stopped for lunch.

Drive and eat at the same time, making good time until you reach the entrance to Suwa City. Don't turn into the city just yet. Instead, continue on the expressway to enjoy the view of the lake. From the rest stop on the Suwa expressway, I would say it is one of the most beautiful rest stops in Japan.

Quench your thirst with iced coffee and then head into the city... Suwa is not very big, so I stopped by the lake first.

From Lake, set your GPS to the high-angle lakeside viewpoint on the hill. Drive to Tateishi Park for about 15 minutes, and you will find the viewpoint, where many people are waiting to take pictures.

Standing and taking pictures until the light fades, then checking in to the accommodation near the lake... At first, I knew that there would be a firework show at the lake every year in August. But when I checked in, the hotel staff asked if I wasn't going to see the fireworks, I was a little confused... They said that this year, the firework festival started earlier than every year.... Very lucky to have pictures of the fireworks to share with you.

The fireworks display lasted approximately fifteen minutes. After taking numerous photos, we went to a nearby restaurant for dinner before returning to our accommodation to sleep. We were exhausted, having not slept the entire night due to our journey. Our flight from Thailand departed at two in the morning, followed by a four-hour drive and immediate sightseeing. Consequently, we slept soundly that night.
