Weekend Guide Ep. 2: Mini-Trips for the Time-Crunched Traveler

Many of us face the dilemma of limited vacation days and tight budgets. Taking a long trip can feel risky, potentially jeopardizing our jobs. This is where "Weekend Guide" comes in, offering mini-trip ideas for those short weekends that can still pack a punch.

These mini-adventures are designed to maximize enjoyment within the constraints of limited time and resources. They provide an opportunity to escape the daily grind and recharge, even if it's just for a couple of days.

So, let's embark on these mini-journeys and discover the joy of weekend escapes!

This trip was inspired by a longing for the sea. Time was short, but the desire to travel was strong. Moreover, as it was monsoon season, I didn't want to risk crossing to any islands. I decided to set my sights on Jomtien Beach, as I hadn't been there in a very long time.

Jomtien Beach offers a more peaceful atmosphere compared to the bustling Pattaya area. Located slightly further away, it still provides convenient access to various tourist attractions. Visitors can easily travel to different points of interest or even take a ferry to Koh Larn island. A potential itinerary could involve spending one day exploring the mainland and another enjoying the island's beauty.

Before we embark on our journey, let's introduce you to the coolest accommodation of this trip, the SEACREST BY JOMTIEN hotel. With its stunning concept, we just had to share it with you. The decor is sure to impress both young and old alike. Here's a sneak peek to whet your appetite.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover stylish accommodations near Jomtien Beach.

This trip was a self-drive journey, with Google Maps guiding us to our destination. We searched for "Sea Crest by Jomtien" and found it easily. The distance from our home was approximately 160 kilometers. We drove and stopped for food along the way, making the trip very relaxing. (We will provide instructions on how to get there by bus later.)

At the Sea Crest by Jomtien hotel, check-in is at 2:00 PM. Therefore, we recommend that you visit a café before checking in. We opened the map and set our first destination as Sketch Book Art Cafe.

After a satisfying meal, it's time to check into our accommodation. The hotel is located approximately 4 kilometers from the cafe, a short drive away. Drive along Jomtien Beach Road and look for a blue sign indicating the soi number. Sea Crest by Jomtien Hotel is located in Soi 12, which is easy to find.

Turn into the alley for about 200 meters and you will find the prominent accommodation. For those who bring their car, look a little beyond the accommodation on the right-hand side. There will be a parking lot specifically for the hotel.

Check in here.

We got room 503, Chiang Mai theme. The accommodation has a theme too!!? As I mentioned earlier, Sea Crest by Jomtien has a good concept. Each floor is decorated differently, according to the style of different provinces. There are a total of 5 floors with an elevator, so don't worry.^^ Starting from the floor we stayed on, Chiang Mai, followed by Kanchanaburi, Udon Thani, and the bottom floor is Krabi. It's like dividing the region from north to south or something. Let's take a look at our room today.

The large bed is very comfortable to sleep in.

A large mirror and a map of Chiang Mai

The bathroom also captures the essence of Chiang Mai. I like the idea of minimalism, not too much, just the right amount.

Amenities are fully provided, including soap, shampoo, toothbrush, and various towels.

We then descended to the second floor, where a small fitness corner and a charming swimming pool awaited our arrival.

The image I had in mind was a beautiful water splash, but the photo I took captured the mood of a rain shower.

Move aside, little one, I'm going to sleep.

It's time to hit the hay!

I can confirm that you'll sleep soundly and wake up feeling refreshed, just in time for dinner. From the accommodation, you can easily reach several popular restaurants, such as Poo Pen Restaurant and Lung Sai Seafood. Just drive along the beach, but be sure to go early as it gets crowded quickly.

Next, let's head to... Jomtien Nice Plaza Market.
It's only about 1 kilometer from the hotel. Turn right out of the hotel alley and drive straight ahead, and you'll find it.

There is a good variety of food available at reasonable prices.

The majority of tourists were foreigners.

The market offers both clothing and food zones, with tables and chairs provided for dining.
Across the street is the beach.

This is a performance space (self-named haha) where children come to dance. There is a DJ playing music, but in the picture, all the children have left.

Today's tour of the market concludes here. I'll head back to my accommodation now, and we'll continue our exploration tomorrow!

Good morning!

Note: I have translated the sentence into English and removed the HTML tags as instructed.

Good morning and enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. On days with fewer guests, like today, breakfast is served à la carte, meaning you can order individual dishes. However, it's just as satisfying as a buffet, as you can always order more if you're not full. Just let the staff know. On Saturdays, Sundays, or days with more guests, breakfast is a buffet with a wide variety of options to choose from.

Delicious Breakfast

The breakfast was excellent, with a delightful flavor.

Good breakfast, good mood :D I want to order more, but my pants are going to burst

After finishing breakfast, we went for a walk on the beach, borrowing bicycles from the accommodation. There are bicycles to borrow, you know! The service is very complete, and they pay attention to almost every detail here. We rode along the beach, stopping to walk on the beach and take pictures.

The sea is visible from the front of the hotel. It is not far at all.

Wake up early and take a walk on the beach while the weather is still cool.

Before checking out, we had a chance to chat with the staff about the different room themes on each floor. They were happy to show us around and we were able to capture some photos of the different rooms.

Floor 4: Kanchanaburi:

Floor 3, Udon Thani:

This floor offers unique connecting rooms, perfect for groups or families seeking both shared space and privacy. These double-door rooms allow access between rooms only when both doors are unlocked, ensuring individual privacy while enabling convenient connection.

Ayutthaya 2nd Floor:

Floor 1: Sword

This room features a climbing staircase, making it ideal for families and friends. The design is, as always, stunning.

It must be fun if you come with friends.

Overall, we were very impressed with this place. The decoration, service, and amenities were all excellent. It is located just a short distance from Pattaya, allowing you to escape the hustle and bustle while still being conveniently located for exploring other attractions. Popular restaurants such as Poo Pen and Lung I Seafood are only about 2 kilometers away, making it easy to satisfy your cravings. After all, good food is essential, right? ^^

After checking out, we will visit two more places before returning to Bangkok. First, we will go to the Khao Phra Tamnak viewpoint and enjoy dessert while admiring the view of Pattaya City at the popular Coffee Break shop. It is the best viewpoint in Pattaya. Anyone who passes by this area cannot resist going up to enjoy the view. Let's go! Open Google Maps and let's go!

The menu here offers a variety of toasts and smoothies at affordable prices.

Offering stunning views of both the sea and the city. <3
For those who prefer not to sit in the cafe, there is a scenic viewpoint next door.

After enjoying the food and the scenic views, we will make another stop at the Grand Canyon Chonburi, also known as "Grand Canyon Kiree" on Google Maps. There is no entrance fee, but there is a parking fee of 20 baht per car.

Go this way.

This is an old mine that has been abandoned for a long time.

The term "Grand Canyon" is often used to describe abandoned mines that resemble the iconic landmark in the United States. This phenomenon has led to the emergence of new tourist destinations in various provinces.

You can actually walk further in, but we only stayed at the viewpoint here. It's a good spot for taking photos, but overall there's not much to see. Tourists come and go quickly. The place is dangerous and steep, so be careful. Try taking photos from different angles. If you come during the hot midday sun, bring an umbrella. Best wishes <3
