Hello, today we are visiting Vang Vieng.
Our journey continues from Vientiane.
However, if you do not wish to visit Vientiane, you can take a direct bus from Udon Thani to Vang Vieng.
We boarded a bus from Vientiane at 10:30 AM. The ticket cost 80,000 kip per person. We arrived in Vang Vieng at 4:00 PM.
We found our accommodation without booking in advance. It's called Champala Lao, which has many positive reviews and is popular among Thai tourists. The accommodation cost 540,000 kip, which we split three ways.
We crossed the small Song River bridge to reach our accommodation.
Our room has 3 beds and can comfortably accommodate 3 people.
This is a coffee shop in Champasak, Laos. Here is a view of the coffee tasting.
After settling into our accommodation, we debated whether to walk around and find a tour or rent a car to explore on our own. However, after walking around, we decided to purchase a tour for 120,000 kip per person, which included a free bicycle. We rode the bicycles to the entrance of Tham Jang Cave, passing the Orange Bridge along the way.
This view is amazing. The mountains, mist, and river are all beautiful. Next, we will continue walking to Tham Chang Cave.
Upon arriving at the cave entrance, we discovered it was closed at 5:00 PM. We had neglected to check the opening hours, so we were unable to enter. We decided to relax at the Orange Bridge and then find somewhere to eat.
We relaxed on a bamboo platform by the Song River, enjoying the scenery and the cool breeze. We crossed a small bridge, which was free to use. We ordered a variety of dishes, which we shared among three people, and the cost was very reasonable. After we finished eating, we took a stroll along the walking street and ended our day with a delicious barbecue.
This barbecue restaurant features a wide variety of vegetables and a delicious peanut dipping sauce.
The next morning, it was drizzling. We walked to the tour company to go on a trip today.
The tourist attractions here are not far apart. If you want to spend more time at a particular location, you can rent a motorbike and ride around yourself.
The scenery along the way is relaxing and very beautiful.
Our first stop was the Elephant Cave. Do you see the elephants over there?
We then walked into the village, continuing on to the rice fields.
We arrived at the cave and floated on rubber rings into the darkness. For us, it wasn't scary. We had life jackets, sat on rubber rings, and had a rope to hold onto. There were many people and a guide with us throughout the journey into and out of the cave. Although the inside was dark, each person had a flashlight on their head.
After exiting the cave, we enjoyed a meal prepared for us by the tour operator.
Our bellies full, we set off to paddle our kayaks on the Song River.

Kayaking here is a lot of fun. It's a long, flowing journey with some shallow and deep sections. Sometimes the current is strong, and some kayaks capsize. It's an activity that takes a long time, but it's worth it.
After finishing our kayaking, we boarded a vehicle to head towards the Blue Lagoon.
This place is very crowded. We only played in the water for a short time before coming up. The water here is really beautiful, with a light blue color. However, the tour guide told us that there are 5 Blue Lagoons. If you want fewer people, you have to go further away.
But today our time is up, tonight we must say goodnight.
The next morning, we woke up early to rent a car and drive to Pha Ngern. The car rental cost 100,000 kip, and the entrance fee was 10,000 kip. We planned to arrive early to avoid the heat, and the light rain made the hike even more enjoyable. I hiked alone, as my friends were still asleep after a night of enjoying the cheap beer (555).
We embarked on our ascent, navigating a slippery and steep path. The distance was sufficient to break a sweat, but the panoramic vista at the summit was an unparalleled reward.
Walking alone on the Silver Cliff made every step cautious, but it also gave me the confidence that I could do it alone. Just a little walk, and I can do it alone! Haha!
We arrived early in the morning and returned in the late morning to shower, change clothes, check out, and continue our journey to Luang Prabang. Stay tuned for our review of Luang Prabang!
