"Pa La-u Waterfall"
Nestled in the southern region of Kaeng Krachan National Park, 60 kilometers from Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, lies the majestic "Pa La-u Waterfall." Adjacent to the Pa La-u Ranger Station, this cascading wonder boasts 15 tiers, each offering a unique experience.
While the first three tiers are ideal for swimming and enjoying the cool waters, visitors are permitted to explore up to the fifth tier only. Access to higher levels requires accompaniment by park rangers. The true gem, however, lies at the seventh tier, where a large pool amidst lush greenery awaits.
"Pa La-u Waterfall": A Safe Haven for Recreation and a Vital Source of Life
"Pa La-u Waterfall" stands as a haven for safe water recreation amidst a lush, verdant forest. This abundance of vegetation ensures consistent rainfall, making it an ideal destination for swimming and enjoying nature's beauty. However, the optimal time for such activities falls between September and March, as the rainy season begins to wane.
Beyond its recreational appeal, "Pa La-u Waterfall" serves as the headwaters of the Pran Buri River, a vital source of life for the people of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. During the winter months, the area experiences a pleasant chill, further enhancing its allure as a tourist destination.
Due to its rich natural resources, Pa La-u Waterfall is home to a diverse range of rare wildlife, including wild elephants, banteng, gaur, and clouded leopards. In the vicinity of the waterfall, one can encounter the red-headed trogon and the great slaty woodpecker.
From April to July, a wide variety of butterflies can be found in the Pa La-u Forest, particularly near streams, mud puddles, and waterfalls. This is due to the abundance of nutrients that butterflies require. Key locations include the waterfall bridge and the concrete bridge leading to the second level. Notably, the Pa La-u Waterfall also offers camping facilities.
