...There are probably many places that many people, when they travel, hope that it won't be just once. Some people go to the same beach over and over again, but they still want to go back. Some people climb mountains and hills, even though it takes half a day to walk, but they go and tell stories. I always believe that there are many people who don't need a lot of reasons from the places we go to why we can go back again and again. I myself am one of those people who have many places that I travel to repeatedly, but I like them, I love them, and I hope to travel back again...

... "Phayao" I have traveled here twice before... The destination is the same, but the difference is the route and the places along the way, and the time has changed... Until I came back again today, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Chiang Rai and TAT Phayao... Joined hands to give me the opportunity to travel to promote tourist attractions and the charming charm of Phayao...

...This trip was supported by TAT Chiang Rai-Phayao, Bangkok Airways, and car rental services from AVIS... The trip took place from November 18-21.

...This trip will mainly focus on Phayao, including popular tourist attractions such as Phu Langka, Wat Phra That Jom Thong, Wat Nantha Ram, the scenery along the way, and the classic Kwan Phayao. There will only be a glimpse of Chiang Rai on the way back. So, without further ado, let's embark on our journey together!

...P.S. There are quite a lot of pictures in this album, 138 pictures... If you have time, you can open the thread and leave it for a while, then come back and continue watching the pictures...

...Starting the journey at Suvarnabhumi Airport, checking in with Bangkok Airways and sending luggage to be loaded onto the plane. It's a 7:35 flight, leaving early in the morning and flying directly to Mae Fah Luang Airport in Chiang Rai Province...

...It took about an hour to get to Chiang Rai Airport safely. Looking at the sky right now, it's okay, but I don't know what will happen next. But what is certain is that the sun at around 9 am is hot enough to make you sweat a little.

...Once you have entered the building and collected your luggage, the next step is to pick up your car. The rental car service that will take you there is AVIS THAILAND ...

...The car we received was a Toyota Yaris Eco Car, a fuel-efficient vehicle that would be with us for another 3 days. After signing the car receipt documents, the driving duty naturally fell to my friend who came with me. As for me, I would be the main navigator, looking at the route and taking pictures. At 9:30 am, the wheels started to turn, marking the true beginning of our journey.

...From the airport, we drove towards Thoeng District, Chiang Rai Province, and then followed the main road to Phu Sang District, Phayao Province. The distance from the airport to Thoeng District is less than 100 kilometers. We drove along, listening to music and stopping for lunch.

...Around 11 am, we arrived at Thoeng District and then headed towards Phu Sang to reach our first destination, "Phu Sang Hot Waterfall". ..

...As you approach the Aun Phu Sang Waterfall, the road begins to narrow, and you can feel the embrace of nature on both sides...

...The golden rice fields in the late morning, nearing midday... The colors are so inviting and tempting to touch... I couldn't wait to park the car and take a few pictures before being called by the villagers who were harvesting to come down and take pictures at my leisure... The only downside is that if I didn't have to go to so many other places on this first day, I would definitely have joined the villagers for lunch.

...As if locked in time, we arrived at "Phu Sang Waterfall" at exactly noon... As soon as we drove across the small bridge, we were greeted by a medium-sized waterfall, not too small, not too big, right by the side of the road.

...parked the car neatly, stopped to buy water and snacks from the many local shops, and then started walking to find a secluded corner to take pictures, each with their own companions...

... "Phu Sang Waterfall," the journey of warm water... The reason for this name is because the water of Phu Sang Waterfall travels along the Huai Nam Huak stream, which flows through a hot spring called "Sap Nam Huak" before cascading down a limestone cliff about 15 meters high. This makes it a warm waterfall with an average temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius. It then flows into the Peuy River below, becoming a source of water for plants and communities.

...At Phu Sang Waterfall, there is also an area for tourists to walk around and relax. There is lush nature surrounded by waterfalls and large trees. The overall area on a day without tourists like this, I can say that it is very open and clean. ...

...He spent all his time taking pictures and standing still, watching the water flow from the cliff above and fall to the water below. The sound of the waterfall was constant, mixed with the occasional sound of birds flying by. ... Sometimes happiness can be found just by standing still and taking it all in...

...We didn't stay at the waterfall for long, about an hour, before we set off again... Our final destination for the day was to sleep at Phu Langka... Along the way, there were still important and famous temples for us to stop by and take pictures... as well as the beautiful scenery on both sides of the road...

... "Nanta Ram Temple" is located in Chiang Kham District, Phayao Province... The previous name was "Jongkha Temple or Jong Nuea Temple". It was originally just a monastery, a hermitage, before around 1924-1925, Mr. Nanta (U) Wong-anan, a wealthy man from Chiang Kham District, renovated the Vihara by hiring Burmese craftsmen to design and build it in the Tai Yai style.

...Inside the temple, although the area around the main hall is not covered by large trees or surrounded by many trees, we still said, "It's so beautiful." The artistry and colors of the design that we saw from the outside impressed us from the first sight.

...As the designer was a Burmese craftsman, the temple looks unusual compared to other Thai temples. However, this has become a unique feature for travelers to remember and experience the beauty of art...

...Apart from being a place of respect and worship for villagers and passers-by, the temple also houses a conservation area for many valuable ancient artifacts. ..

...Many of the ancient objects are kept in glass cabinets, but there are also many pieces that are on display for us to see clearly. .. During the days of our trip, there were many villagers and tourists who came to pay their respects... It is a temple that is quite famous and popular...

...From Wat Nantharam, we continued our journey to another temple, "Wat Phra Nang Din"... Just hearing the name gives you a rough idea of what to expect...

...After a short distance of about 5 km, we arrived at Wat Phra Nang Din. The temple is conveniently located right next to the main road and is easily visible. ...

...Wat Phra Nang Din is a temple where the main Buddha statue does not have a base like other Buddha statues or in other temples... There have been attempts to build a base to raise the Buddha statue to be placed on the base, but without success because no matter how hard they tried, they could not lift it. There is also a story that villagers once joined hands to build a base and invite the Lord of the Earth to sit on it, but lightning struck the ordination hall three times... The villagers then had to invite the statue to be placed on the lower floor as before... This is the origin of the name "Phra Nang Din"...

...Then it's time to hit the road again... The images of the many sights that await us along the way are waiting for us...

...About 40 kilometers away from our destination... With time still spinning at the same pace, walking at the same rhythm, but on a day with good weather, free from pollution, smoke, and the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it feels like time is taking its time, allowing us to savor and appreciate everything to the fullest...

...the day when electric poles turned into trees, tall buildings turned into big mountains, the hustle and bustle turned into rice fields, and the crowded city people turned into small groups of villagers...

...There's always something memorable along the way...

... Smiles, greetings, questions about where we came from and where we were going, even offers of water, even though the villagers themselves probably needed the water more than we did in our comfortable air-conditioned car ...

...Kindness and friendship, if anything, time is not essential. With the greetings, conversations, and smiles that the villagers gave us, we were able to see a more complete picture than just looking from afar.

...approximately 4 pm, the total route from Chiang Rai Airport to Phu Langka Resort is approximately 180 km. The route is easy to drive, the road conditions are excellent all the way, and there are almost no bumps. There are not many turns and no steep curves to worry about...

...For those who plan to travel by car, either renting or driving your own, I can tell you that it's a comfortable route. (Just be careful, that's all.)

...The trip took place between November 18th and 21st, in the middle of November. The weather wasn't very cold yet, but the sky was starting to get dark earlier. ...

...We spent our time taking in the scenery on both sides of the road. We drove along, and whenever we saw something beautiful, we stopped. If I thought it was beautiful but the driver didn't, we still stopped. Or if the driver thought a certain angle was beautiful but I didn't see it, we stopped anyway. It was fun because sometimes we found things, experienced things, and liked things from angles that we hadn't noticed at first.

...We arrived at the accommodation in the evening around 5 pm and had dinner with fish. We also planned to take some pictures of the stars, or if we were lucky, we would try to take pictures of the Milky Way as well, because we had never done it before... While we were having dinner, we had a good view of the southwest direction, we just had to wait until early evening...

...The angle may be forced by the location and environment. This is the only angle that can capture the Milky Way from this point... I have never taken pictures of the Milky Way or constellations before, but this time I have done some research and memorized some information... So the first shutter of the Milky Way photography started around 1 pm.

...Due to the high altitude, the Milky Way can be faintly seen with the naked eye, along with many twinkling stars... It didn't take long to capture each image, but the torment and endurance came from the mosquitoes that kept us company the whole time.

...As soon as I took the picture and looked at the back of the camera, I can only say that I was very happy. Although it may be normal for many people who have taken pictures in this style before, but for me who has never done it, it feels different... I end the day with a good night's sleep and a dream of the Milky Way tonight....

...Early in the morning of another day, around 7 am ... This morning there was no thick fog flowing below, unlike the 2 times I had been here before, and unlike yesterday when the people here said that there was still fog yesterday morning .... It made me realize once again that it must be up to fate...

...But since we were already there, we decided to take some pictures. There was still some sunlight shining through, which was good enough. Then we went back to have breakfast, strolled around, enjoyed the atmosphere, and sipped coffee, letting time pass slowly and comfortably before leaving the accommodation to take pictures downstairs instead...

...When you're at the top, looking down is beautiful. But when you're down here, looking up is beautiful in a different way. ..

...It would be nice if we could have a can of fresh air to keep, but since we can't, we can just stand still, breathe in slowly and deeply, and then exhale slowly... Besides being happy with the good air, it also makes me feel relieved.

...Yesterday, on my way here, I saw the villagers' way of life as they worked together to harvest rice, threshing and winnowing it by hand. .. But this morning, we also saw another way of threshing rice using machines and engines. .. The speed is, of course, much faster than manual labor.

...and then we walked around taking pictures of that corner here and there... Yesterday, when we came, there were only two of us, but today our destination is the city center of Kwan Phayao to take pictures. By chance, we met two fellow travelers along the way who were also hitchhiking and had plans to return to Kwan Phayao like us. We invited them to join us in the car because it seemed that they both enjoyed taking pictures as much as we did.

...Up to this point, all four of us, whether it's my friend couple or the couple I met last night... everyone has gone their separate ways. Each to their own corner, in a spacious and beautiful place, with plenty of time to spare.

...is another period of time that is truly a good retreat ...

...Then, a little later, around 10:00 am, we started to leave here...

...Along the way, we stopped for lunch and came across a house where the residents were musicians. We were invited in and spent time listening to local music and talking with new friends we never expected to meet...

...Until about one o'clock in the afternoon, the first place we visited was "Ban Tai Lue Ban Yai Saeng Da Community", which is located in Chiang Kham District. It is a route that we have to drive through to reach Phayao city... This community is like a small village. At Yai Saeng Da's house, where we stopped by, they are engaged in the handicraft weaving industry. They also send fabrics and various products to the Tai Lue Cultural Center, which is located in a nearby temple, to display their work.

...At Grandma Saeng Dan's house, the lower floor under the house is where the grandmother sits and weaves, sits and works. The upper floor is where the gold work, weaving, and fabric samples are stored, both for sale and for display at the center. There is also a corner where the history and origin of the work is displayed.

...The three grandmothers we met were very kind. They said we could walk around and take pictures wherever we wanted, and they even invited us to eat and drink with them. We spent about 30 minutes at Grandma Saeng Da's house, watching her work. As we watched, we couldn't help but think about how long it takes and how much effort it takes to make each thread and each piece of fabric...

...After that, I said goodbye to my grandmother and set off for my next destination, "Wiang Lo Archaeological Site"...

... "The Wiang Lo archaeological site" is located about 17 km from Jun district. It is a vast area with a long history. It is the remains of the old city walls, including the ancient Wat Sri Ping Muang. Our visit will only be to the part where the Wiang Lo artifacts are kept.

...As soon as we arrived and parked the car, a monk from the temple advised us to see the ancient artifacts that were well-preserved... The room where they were kept was locked by the temple because they were afraid of theft, so they opened it for viewing on a case-by-case basis. ..

...Inside is a spacious hall with details telling the history of Wiang Lo in the past era... It also serves as a collection of various ancient objects, both those unearthed and old objects donated by villagers or others... The temple also keeps them for future generations to see and study.

...With the time running out, coupled with the goal of getting a picture of Kwan Phayao in the evening, we didn't stay here for long before we had to move on...

...The beautiful fields along the way are still interesting and beautiful. Especially now that the afternoon sunlight is starting to fade... It's not as hot as it was during the day, so we keep stopping to take pictures along the way...

...Finally, we arrived at the city center of Phayao. But before we capture the atmosphere of Kwan Phayao at the edge of the lake, let's go up to see the scenery from a high angle at the Kwan Phayao viewpoint, which is located on the road that will be cut off to Chiang Mai.

...I've tried to sketch a rough map in case anyone is interested in following along (apologies for my handwriting). .. Starting from the Mae Tam intersection, follow the arrows I've drawn, sticking to the Wang Nua district road. Then drive past Mae Na Ruea Agricultural College on your right. From that point, the road starts to climb with some slight curves. .. Drive for about 10 km and you'll find a viewpoint on the right-hand side...

...No matter which way you drive, you'll find it because it's prominently displayed. Once you've parked your car, walk to the viewpoint that the province has built so well. There are shops from local people, restrooms, and an area for walking around. ..

…But unfortunately for today's visit, the weather conditions made it difficult to see the Kwan Phayao Lake clearly when looking down. .. On the other hand, if it were a day with a beautiful sky and clear weather… this spot would be a very beautiful view indeed.

…After seeing that things were not looking good, the four of us agreed that it would be better to hurry to the edge of the swamp… to capture the evening light…

...As soon as I arrived, the sky had already changed color, so there wasn't much time to find a good angle. .. I couldn't drive around and enjoy the scenery along the lake, but at least I managed to take some pictures. .. And from this set of pictures, there is one that I like the most from this trip...

...We ended the night of the 2nd with budget accommodation by the Kwan Phayao Lake... Dinner with old friends who came along with us and new friendships we made along the way... It gave us a lot to talk about before we went our separate ways to rest... But for me and my friend, there were other plans waiting for us the next day.

...Another bright morning with a clear sky, not a single cloud in sight. But the color of the sky gives a sense of being in the north, unlike my home in Sathorn, the heart of the capital city.

...Upon arriving at Kwan Phayao, another must-do is to pay respects at "Wat Tiloakararam", a floating temple in the middle of Kwan Phayao.

...When I arrived, it was around 9 am. It seemed that the local boats were not quite ready yet, as they were still arranging the boat schedule. However, by chance, my arrival coincided with the filming of two travel shows.

...and one of those items belongs to Mam Surivipa... So the team invited the two of us to go on the same boat with the team...

...It takes about 10 minutes by rowing boat from the villagers to reach the temple in the middle of the water. Every year, the area around the central ordination hall will be the place for the candle procession by sitting on a rowing boat around. As for the date of the candle procession, it will be on Makha Bucha Day, Visakha Bucha Day and Asanha Bucha Day.

...Wat Tilokaram is an ancient site submerged in Kwan Phayao. It was built by King Tilokaraj of the Lanna Kingdom, who ordered Phraya Yutthitthira, the ruler of Phayao, to construct it around 1476-1486 AD. According to legend, after the construction of the dam on the Ing River, many fields, gardens, temples, and monasteries were submerged under the waters of Kwan Phayao. The inscription on the stone tablet reveals that the temple is over 530 years old.

...We spent about half an hour at the temple before returning to the shore, as we had to wait for the film crew to finish filming.

...Then, slowly drive along the riverside... In the late morning, the sun might be a bit strong, but judging from the smiles and luggage of the foreign tourists, I can tell that they must love it... Like this group, from what I have greeted and chatted with a little, I know that they are from Finland and they really enjoy cycling around the reservoir...

...The Kwan Phayao that we are driving around is the largest body of water in the Ing River Basin. It can accommodate water flowing from all 12 streams, which originate from the San Pan Nam mountain range or Doi Luang... Kwan Phayao has an area of approximately 12,830 rai... The area around the Kwan can be driven all the way around, with some sections not directly adjacent to the water, alternating according to the area...

...The ideal time, I think, would be in the early morning or in the late afternoon when the weather is lighter than it is before noon like today. .. But with the time we have now, we don't want to waste any time, so we decided to drive along the way... to soak up the atmosphere on a relaxing day.

...The road we are driving on is well-maintained...

...The sunlight before noon might be a bit strong, but the breeze and the blades of grass still create a beautiful picture for us. It's a pleasing sight that makes you think that if it were dusk, it would be even more beautiful...

...As there is a meeting, there must be a departure... Finally, it's time to leave Kwan Phayao, keeping the impression and beauty, the abundance in many places that we have passed through, including Phu Sang Waterfall, Phu Langka, the atmosphere on both sides of the road... and the beauty of the stories of famous temples such as Wat Nantaram, Wat Phra Nang Din... or the impression of handicraft weaving at Baan Yai Saeng Da, the Tai Lue community...

...We drove out of Phayao into Chiang Rai Province. Today, we will be staying at a hotel near the airport to get some rest and avoid overexertion... before we travel back the next day to return the car and finally catch our flight home...

...We arrived at the accommodation around two o'clock in the afternoon. The hotel, The Mantri, Chiang Rai, is located next to Central Department Store, which is very easy to find... and is also convenient for traveling to many different places, including the Four-way Intersection of King Mengrai, Mae Fah Luang Airport, the bustling nightlife area, or even Wat Rong Khun, which is also not far from this hotel.

...As we arrived on a weekday, the atmosphere at the accommodation was truly peaceful. There was a large swimming pool right next to our room, so we could just run out and jump in. ... And after we had put our things away and washed our faces to refresh ourselves, we set out to find some beautiful spots, this time with no specific destination in mind. So we just drove around...

... and then we arrived at the Boon Rawd Farm, where a large golden lion stood prominently inside... We stopped by for a quick look, but didn't take many pictures, focusing more on admiring the place...

...But there were still some beautiful flower corners to bring back with me... with the rhythm of the sunlight shining as a beam down to the ground below... plus the flowers that Boon Rawd Farm planted and took good care of...

...It takes a little time to travel to the final destination to close the trip perfectly at "Wat Huai Plakang"...

...a temple with stunning beauty and a picturesque view from afar, as beautiful as any other temple. In addition to being a place of worship for Buddhists, it is also a shelter for underprivileged children...

...The many things we see on each journey are vast and varied. Some we encounter by chance, others we seek out intentionally. But no matter how we come to them, if we accept and understand them, happiness can easily arise in our hearts....

...concluding the album with a picture of Wat Huai Pla Kang at dusk... before returning to our accommodation and flying back the next day...

...Each journey allows us to learn and experience more. If we are impressed, we hope to come back again. If we haven't been there yet, we hope that one day we will be able to travel there... This trip was the same. It was the 3rd time I had been to Phayao Province... and I was not disappointed in the least... The trees, the grass, the nature, the people, the kindness, everything I encountered during the past 3 days brought me immense joy on this trip...

...Thanks again to TAT Phayao and Chiang Rai provinces for supporting this trip, along with Bangkok Airways and Avis Thailand car rentals. And a huge thank you to all my friends who stopped by to see this album... The next album might be a small collection of winter travel destinations. If nothing goes wrong, I expect to post it on Pantip again before Christmas.

...This album is dedicated to all travel lovers. May you have a happy and safe journey. Goodbye.
