For those seeking thrilling activities to add excitement to their leisure days, I recommend the exhilarating surfing experience at Flow House Bangkok.

Many people have heard of or are familiar with this place. Some have even used its services, and some come regularly, at least once a week.

Flow House Bangkok: Urban beach club

Flow House Bangkok is a place where you can enjoy FlowRider surfing without having to travel far to the sea with high waves.

When I sat at Flow House Bangkok, I felt like I was at a cool beach club by the sea. It's open for everyone to come and relax, even if you don't want to play FlowRider. Besides the simulated wave surfing machine, there are also seats with a view like a beach bar and restaurant where you can enjoy food and drinks.

Upon arriving at Flow House Bangkok around 3 PM, I booked a one-hour surfing session for 5 PM. I decided to arrive early to enjoy a refreshing drink and some snacks. Fresh coconut water served in its shell and a mango smoothie were perfect for the sunny afternoon.

EAT & DRINK

The second floor offers a relaxed atmosphere where you can watch surfers catch waves while enjoying snacks and drinks. The menu features a variety of tempting dishes and beverages.

It is recommended to arrive at least 30 minutes before your surf session to warm up. Bring your friends and relax with a selection of A La Carte dishes, including snacks like pizza, french fries, and burgers, as well as main courses like spaghetti carbonara and fried rice. Enjoy lively conversations while sipping on refreshing smoothies or fruit juices.

Upon arrival, I ordered a mix of dishes: carbonara, grilled chicken with papaya salad, and refreshing coconut water and mango smoothie. I also indulged in some crispy onion rings, french fries, and delicious nuggets.

Tips: It is recommended to book in advance for those who want to try the flow rider to ensure a spot during your desired time slot. However, walk-ins are also welcome for those who just want to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

For those who plan to try surfing or flow riding, it is advisable to wear appropriate surfing attire for safety and flexibility. As for my outfit, I thought I had prepared well with my swimming trunks, even tying the strings tightly. However, while I was lying down, the water hit my trunks, almost causing them to fall off. This led me to a crossroads: should I let the water knock my trunks off and continue with "The Show Must Go On," or should I sacrifice my performance and let the water carry me away? Fortunately, I wasn't there to put on a show, so I decided to let myself go with the force of the water, along with my half-fallen trunks. The instructor shouted several times, "Your trunks are falling off, sir!" It was a testament to their excellent care, as they provided instruction, ensured my safety, and kept a close eye on me throughout the session.

If you haven't prepared your own clothes or a swimsuit, you can purchase them at the RIPCURL shop located within Flow House Bangkok. This co-branded partnership provides convenience for customers. You can bring your own towel, or rent one on-site if needed.

Don't worry if you've never surfed before or don't know how to do it. Remember, every expert was once a beginner!

Flow House Bangkok provides free one-on-one instruction from experienced staff or instructors. This is a great benefit for beginners or those who want to improve their skills. The instructors will guide and observe your movements to ensure proper body alignment and technique.

“Proper technique will help you perform better and progress faster.”

This statement has been proven by me through practicing the postures as instructed by the trainer. The results show that we can sit on the board much faster than I had anticipated.

XTREME SPORT

In the evening, the front area is a popular spot for skateboarding. Feel free to join in the fun! This is a great activity for those who enjoy exercise or extreme sports at Flow House Bangkok.

The street performers, known as the "Street Kids Team," put on an impressive show, showcasing their impressive skills and entertaining the crowd with their playful antics.

Those who are near this zone or want to join in, the gang is waiting for everyone to come and play and share together.

This is my instructor. His playing style and skills are truly deserving of applause. He is also a very dedicated and attentive teacher.

The friendly trainers put us at ease, allowing us to play more confidently.

My Turn

Flow House Bangkok offers free boards for all customers who come to play, including both bodyboards and surfboards. Regardless of your choice, you can try both options, especially if you're a beginner. During my one-hour session, I found that it was just enough time to get the hang of bodyboarding and stand-up surfing, with the guidance of the instructors. Some people who grasped the direction quickly and had good balance were able to start gliding smoothly with the waves.

It was my turn after chilling for a while. The instructor gave me some tips and techniques on how to play, corrected my posture, and cheered me on when I fell, saying, "Try again!"

For first-time players, the instructor will require you to perform three mandatory BodyBoard maneuvers to familiarize yourself with sitting and balancing on the board.

Once you've gotten comfortable with the water and learned how to control the direction of the board, your instructor will start teaching you how to surf on a surfboard. The technique involves balancing your weight on your back foot while using your front foot to adjust your direction by shifting your weight left or right. Sounds easy, right? You'll have to try it yourself! The difficulty depends on your ability to balance your weight. It's recommended that you practice with a bodyboard first to get used to adjusting the direction of the board. However, your instructor will be there to observe your progress and help you along the way.

Trust in your skills and the guidance of your instructor, and you'll be able to surf on a surfboard in a standing position, taking pride in your efforts. Once you can stand, the fun of trying different tricks and maneuvers will begin.

COOL DOWN

After playing, I sat down to cool down for a bit. I finished playing around 5 pm, took a shower, changed my clothes, and sat down. I ordered a cocktail to refresh myself.

If you're coming with a group, consider ordering a pizza for a great value. We recommend trying the Mixed Sausage Pizza.

Personal Note:

This is a great sport for improving balance. In one hour, I fell over a hundred times, easily. I almost gave up, thinking I wouldn't be able to stand anymore. But the encouragement from the people around me and the coach kept me going. They told me to keep trying, that I was close.

"Don't tense up."

~ My mind wasn't tense, but my body was shaking on its own.

"Keep your back straight." … Okay, that's too much arching.

"Put your weight on the back foot."

With 15 minutes left before the hour was up, I finally started to get it.

The instructor would help point out incorrect techniques and postures, and we would learn how to find the right balance for ourselves. It's like a child learning to ride a bike without training wheels. Why do children fall? And then get up and keep riding? Because they practice with passion. They have to make it. It's a goal that comes from the child's own heart. The reason I thought about giving up was because I didn't have enough passion to believe I could do it. And I was nervous from the start, thinking I wouldn't be able to. I have to thank the encouragement from the people around me, from the instructor, and from Jieb, the female flowrider, who all helped cheer me on until I finally succeeded.
