Travel log for September 3, 2017

Does anyone else feel like me? Whenever there's a holiday, I always have to find a reason to leave the house. Haha. This time was no different. Since my friend was going back home to Suphan Buri, I decided to tag along to keep her company. Hehe.

Let's head to Suphan Buri!

Buffalo Village Opening Hours

  • Open: Daily, no holidays
  • Hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Getting to Buffalo Village

Private car: Depart from Bangkok via Kanchanaphisek Road, then exit to Suphan Buri on Highway 340. Continue driving until you reach Si Prachan. The buffalo village is located on Highway 340 (Suphan Buri-Si Prachan), kilometers 115-116. At the three-way intersection, turn right and follow the signs. If you are unsure, use Google Maps. Technology makes things easier, doesn't it? 555

Public transportation: Take a van or bus to Suphan Buri Bus Terminal and then take the Suphan Buri - Sam Chuk bus line. Tell the driver to drop you off at Kwai Village.

There are two entrances. If you open Google Maps, it will lead you here, and you will see a large buffalo standing in the sun and rain to welcome you.

The parking lot is quite spacious. Just follow the entrance road and you'll arrive here. You're definitely in the right place with the buffalo-drawn carts.

Hey! There's a new cafe called "Smiling Buffalo" right at the entrance. If you're looking for a refreshing drink or some ice cream, you can stop by before heading in.

Tickets must be purchased before entering. Details are as follows: There are both individual and group tickets available. Choose according to your preference. Pan bought individual tickets and will pay for the show separately later.

Interior atmosphere

Pan will provide you with some interior photos shortly. Please note that the venue was undergoing renovations during Pan's visit, which may have resulted in missing some beautiful angles. However, Pan believes that the available photos are still quite good. Please scroll down to view them.

The sky is clear, revealing beautiful clouds. Although it's a bit hot, I think Thai people are probably used to it, right? 555 The atmosphere inside is like this. There is an exhibition of ancient Thai houses, replicating the way of life in the past. There is also a beautiful garden around the pond, which is currently being renovated. I saw that they have just planted new trees. I think it will be very beautiful when it's finished.

Look, look, look at the buffalo, buffalo

Despite being told that this is a village of buffaloes, how could there not be any buffaloes? Let's go see for ourselves! Hahahahahahahaha.

This is considered a conservation area for Thai buffaloes, as it brings together various rare breeds of Thai buffaloes, such as the white buffalo.

The dwarf buffalo wallows and rolls around.

Pan is very fond of this buffalo's horns, they look like a bull's horns. Hehe, his face is fierce and handsome, but he is very clumsy. He ate grass and got it stuck on his head. When Pan went to remove it, he even got a headbutt. Haha.

In addition to the water buffalo on display, the village is also home to other animals, such as peacocks and young deer.

The Farmers' Museum

As a buffalo village, buffaloes are naturally associated with farmers. Therefore, there is a Farmers' Museum that houses tools and equipment used by farmers for buffalo-powered rice cultivation.

Water buffalo show

After exploring the village, we rushed to secure front-row center seats for the buffalo show. The location was fantastic! Every weekend and holiday, the show features traditional Isaan singing alongside the buffalo's skills, making it more special than on weekdays.

Showtimes

  • Weekdays (Monday - Friday) 2 shows: 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM.
  • Weekends and Public Holidays 3 shows: Morning 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Afternoon 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM, and Evening 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM.

The show will explain the history of buffalo taming, how it is done, and its purpose. It will also feature a demonstration of traditional buffalo plowing using a video. There will be many other interesting things to see. If you have the opportunity, you should definitely come and watch.

This performance explains the origin of the term "Saphan Kwai" (Buffalo Bridge). In the past, when a river blocked the way, people would have buffaloes stand in the water in a line, and then people would step on the buffaloes' backs to cross.

Moving on to the performance, here it is! Pan is very proud to present this. He says that this buffalo is the most perfectly beautiful buffalo according to the buffalo manual. Since it's the most handsome, many people want to befriend it. Haha.

The highlight, however, lies in the "Smiling Buffalo," which officials have been raving about since ticket sales began, emphasizing its must-see status.

After the show, we, the audience, were also allowed to try sitting on the back of a buffalo. Pan, being the energetic country child that he is, jumped up quickly.

After enjoying the show, it's time to say goodbye. As you walk towards the exit, you'll find a souvenir shop. Pan brought her son to take photos and browse the cute items. If you're interested, you can pick up a souvenir or two before leaving.

There is also a photo corner before leaving. It's funny. 555

Let's have fun and then head back, shall we?
