A Return to Thai Elegance: Visiting the Palace in Traditional Attire

Greetings! Today, we invite you to join us in experiencing the charm of Thai elegance at the "Palace Visit in Chic Thai Attire" event. Since arriving in Phetchaburi several years ago, we have eagerly anticipated this annual celebration, the Phra Nakhon Khiri - Phetchaburi Festival. In 2017, we had the pleasure of participating in the event, adorning ourselves in stylish Thai attire for a visit to the palace. This year, we are thrilled to once again immerse ourselves in this unique atmosphere.

The Annual Phetchaburi Provincial Festival at Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park

This year marks the 32nd annual Phetchaburi Provincial Festival, taking place from February 9th to 18th, 2018, at the Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park (Khao Wang) in Mueang District, Phetchaburi Province.

The event features demonstrations of local craftsmanship and wisdom, traditional games and lifestyles, nightly illuminations and fireworks displays, parades and exhibitions in honor of His Majesty, and a beauty pageant for young women of Phetchaburi.

- Witness the grand procession from 8 districts (opening ceremony) on the evening of February 9th.
- Be dazzled by the magnificent light decorations throughout Phra Nakhon Khiri.
- Every night at 9:00 PM, enjoy the spectacular and beautiful fireworks display, the highlight of the event.
- Experience traditional folk performances, savor Phetchaburi cuisine, and witness demonstrations of Phetchaburi craftsmanship.
- Participate in the #DressThaiChicToVisitThePalace activity, etc.

The highlight of this event is the walk to the top of Khao Wang, a sacred landmark of the city. On the summit of Khao Wang, there is a royal palace built by King Rama IV for his summer residence. There are also several other buildings, including temples and pavilions, most of which are a blend of Neoclassical Western and Chinese architecture. These structures are situated on top of three large hills, offering stunning views and making them a popular landmark for photography in Phetchaburi.

On the first day of the event, we dressed in a playful Thai style. We then hiked up Khao Wang to admire the architecture and participate in various activities.

On the second day, the Thai style of dress is different. It's very sweet, right? >< Today we come with a Vespa and Thai food in a banana leaf cup. 555

On the third day, we regained our confidence and went for a walk at the market below. Oh! For those who don't have a Thai outfit, you can wear regular clothes to the Phra Nakhon Khiri Fair. It's not limited to Thai attire only. But if you want to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere, we highly recommend it. Dress up as much as you can! If you can't find a rental, there are rental services available at the event. Very convenient.
